Your Lambeau seat decision in 30 seconds
For a Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field, the strongest all-around seat is a sideline section near midfield, roughly rows 20 to 40, where you are high enough to see over the players on the bench. Even-numbered sections line the Packers' sideline on the west; odd-numbered sections line the visitors' sideline on the east. Then factor in the weather: the shady west side wins in September, and the sunnier east side is usually the warmer choice for a December afternoon.
Remember three facts as you shop. Most lower-bowl seats are aluminum benches with no backs. The stadium has no roof. And late-season games can be bitterly cold. Every other choice follows from those.
Reading the section numbers
The field runs north to south, and the numbering is easier to learn than at most NFL stadiums.
- 100 level (sections 100 to 138): the lower bowl. Sections 119 and 120 are at midfield. Numbers count down toward the north end zone and up toward the south end zone.
- 300 level: despite the number, it is not an upper deck. These sections sit right behind the 100 level and have about a dozen rows or fewer, so the concourse is a short walk away.
- 400 level: includes club seating, such as sections 411 to 429 on the east side.
- "S" sections in the south end zone (for example, 448S): added in the 2012 to 2015 expansion, with individual chairbacks and cupholders.
- 600 and 700 levels: stacked above the south end zone, the highest seats in the building.
The even and odd rule holds throughout: even means the west, home side; odd means the east, visiting side.
Sun, shade and the cold
Sun exposure at Lambeau changes with the kickoff time, and it matters more here than almost anywhere else in the league.
- Noon kickoffs: the east sideline (odd sections) and the north end zone get the earliest, strongest sun. The south end zone stays shaded.
- 3:25 kickoffs: the whole west sideline falls into shade. Upper odd sections from about 407 to 431 keep the sun the longest.
Translate that into a season plan. Early in the year, a shaded west-side seat keeps you comfortable. After Thanksgiving, sun is a heater, and an east-side seat on the visitors' side can feel several degrees warmer than the shaded side across the field.
Seats to buy for a Packers game
Midfield sideline
Sections 119 and 120 are the benchmark. Sections 118 and 121 give nearly the same angle and often cost less. Aim for the middle rows; the lowest rows sit so close to field level that the bench area hides the far side.
Comfort first
The south end zone chairback sections are the most comfortable seats in the bowl, with real backs and cupholders. You give up a sideline view for them, but on a four-hour cold afternoon many fans think that is worth it.
Club level
Indoor access, upgraded food and private restrooms carry more weight at Lambeau than at a dome. With kids or older relatives in a late-season game, a club seat can be the difference between staying to the end and leaving at halftime.
Leap seats
The low rows of the north end zone, near sections 100 and 138, are where players jump into the crowd after scoring in the Lambeau Leap. They are fun for touchdowns at your end and poor for everything at the other.
Lambeau seats that disappoint
- Front rows on either sideline. They look close on a map, but standing players block much of the field.
- Unshaded seats in early September. Odd sections at noon can be hot and bright for the full game.
- The 600 and 700 levels if you want detail. You see the whole field, but from a long way up.
- Bench seats for anyone who needs back support. Rent a seat back at the main gates or near sections 353 and 354 (card only), or buy a chairback section. Benches have no armrests, and in winter coats you will sit shoulder to shoulder.
Season tickets are almost impossible to get, with a waiting list of at least 150,000 names, so most fans buy single games on the resale market.
Gameday logistics: lots, buses and bags
Gates open two hours before kickoff. The stadium and team lots are cashless, entry is mobile-ticket only, and there is no re-entry at afternoon games. Season parking is sold out, but single-game reserved spots are sold through the team's parking vendor, and many nearby homeowners sell lawn and driveway spaces under their own rules.
Tailgating in team lots (2026 season)
- Keep your setup in a 9-by-6-foot space behind your vehicle.
- Use supervised charcoal or propane grills only; wood fires and turkey fryers are banned.
- Stop at kickoff, and pack up before you walk away.
- Skip the Titletown lot (Lot 15), which bans tailgating.
Buses and rideshare
Green Bay Metro runs four free gameday routes, beginning four hours before kickoff and running every 30 minutes until about an hour after the game. Rideshare pickup is at Mike McCarthy Way and Holmgren Way; leave through the American Family, Oneida Nation or Potawatomi gates. The Packers A to Z guide has current details.
Bags and gear
As of the 2026 season, you may carry one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear freezer bag, plus a clutch no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Stadium seats with backs are allowed if 18 inches wide or less with no pockets or zippers. Blankets carried loose and battery-heated clothing are fine; outside food and drinks are not. Check the carry-in policy before each game. Every Reserved Seat order comes with guaranteed entry.
From City Stadium to Titletown
Lambeau Field stands at 1265 Lombardi Avenue and is owned by the City of Green Bay. It opened on September 29, 1957, as City Stadium and was renamed in 1965, two months after the death of Packers founder Curly Lambeau. The Ice Bowl, the 1967 NFL Championship Game played at 15 degrees below zero, gave the place its "frozen tundra" image. The Lambeau Leap started in 1993.
A renovation costing about 295 million dollars ran from 2001 to 2003, grow lights joined the underground field heating in 2011 to keep the Kentucky bluegrass and SISGrass surface healthy, and the 2012 to 2015 south end zone project added about 7,500 seats. The rebuilt Atrium holds the Pro Shop and the Packers Hall of Fame, open year-round since 2015. Stadium tours are first-come, first-served and do not run on game days.
The Packers play preseason games in August and the regular season from September into January. Beyond football, the stadium has staged concerts, Wisconsin vs. LSU in 2016, an outdoor hockey game in 2006 and Bayern Munich vs. Manchester City in 2022. The 34-acre Titletown district next door, opened in 2017 with a hotel, restaurants and a brewery, helped host the 2025 NFL Draft.
