Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
First question at Chase Field: is the roof open?
Your seat choice at Chase Field depends on the roof. Closed, the park is air-conditioned and comfortable everywhere, so choose on view and budget alone: field-level seats near section 122, behind the plate, have the best look, and the upper-deck infield is the bargain. When the roof is open on a spring or fall afternoon, sit on the third-base side, the shade side, and favor upper sections 314 to 318 or 328 to 332.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have played here since the park's first game on March 31, 1998. It holds 48,330 and sits on Jefferson Street in the middle of downtown Phoenix. Moving the roof takes roughly four and a half minutes, and because the field has been synthetic turf since 2019, the team can keep it shut through much of the summer heat. The season starts in late March or the first days of April and wraps up in late September, with postseason games for a qualifying team.
Shade-side strategy for open-roof games
According to the shade guide Shaded Seats, here is how the sun falls with the roof open:
- Third-base side: the shade side of the park.
- Sections 314–318 and 328–332 upstairs: the most dependable shade for a day game.
- The last rows of 319–327: covered by the roof structure overhead.
- From first base out to right: the sunniest part of the park, and the ones to avoid on a warm open-roof afternoon.
Arizona posts the roof plan online and staffs a phone line with roof updates on game days. If you are buying for an April or September day game, check the roof status close to the date, and if it is likely to be open, pay the small extra for a shaded section.
Four tiers and the outfield extras
Four decks of seating wrap the field from pole to pole, and bleachers sit beyond the outfield walls in left and right. Read the first digit of a section to know your deck.
- Field level (100s): 122 is straight behind the plate; 115 sits along the first-base line. RateYourSeats shows infield rows beginning at 21 and running to 39, then continuing with lettered rows at the back.
- 200 level (mezzanine): the club and suite deck; across the park there are roughly 4,400 club seats and 57 suites.
- Upper deck (300s): the lowest-priced grandstand tickets, plus the Sandlot area.
- Beyond the walls: two bleacher sections and, in right-center some 415 feet out, the famous pool, rented to groups of up to 35 as a suite.
Seating guides note that seat numbers start low on the right-hand side of a section when you look toward the diamond.
Seats for views, value and groups
- Best view: the first ten rows (21 through 30) of the field-level sections near 122. Netting screens about sections 115 through 129, so move just outside that stretch if you dislike looking through it.
- Best value: upper-deck infield seats, from first base to third, where the whole diamond spreads out below you.
- Best for groups: the outfield bleachers or the pool, which are about atmosphere more than keeping score.
- Dugout seats, with a caveat: published guides conflict about which side Arizona's dugout is on. When the home bench is the reason you are buying, look for the dugout marking on the seat map of the listing.
Expect stronger demand for weekend games and series against marquee opponents, and for any game when the roof and the weather make an outdoor night especially appealing. Every Reserved Seat order includes free shipping.
Clear bags, outside food and gate times
For 2026, the limit is one see-through bag per person, either plastic, vinyl or PVC no bigger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches or a clear gallon freezer bag, plus an optional clutch no bigger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
Food rules are unusually generous. You can bring outside food in a clear plastic bag, and you may also carry juice boxes that are still sealed, plain water in sealed plastic bottles, or an empty plastic bottle to refill. For a family, that alone can make a big difference.
- Gates: open an hour and a half ahead of first pitch, except Saturdays, when they open two hours ahead.
- Re-entry: scan out and back in at Gate A, F, J or K.
- Payment: cashless; reverse ATMs that load cash onto a card are by sections 106, 128 and 322.
- Help and family needs: Guest Relations at sections 128 and 322; family restrooms near sections 109 and 135.

Light rail, garages and rideshare downtown
Valley Metro Rail's A Line is the easy answer. Get off at either 3rd Street/Jefferson or 3rd Street/Washington, and you are minutes from the gates. Trains link Phoenix with Tempe and Mesa and come every 15 to 20 minutes, 365 days a year.
Drivers can use the Chase Field garage, the Jefferson Street Garage and other downtown garages and lots. Prices and payment methods vary by operator and season, so book a space in advance on weekends and on nights when an arena event downtown competes for the same garages. The Diamondbacks' parking page has current details.
Rideshare drop-off is simple before the game. After the game, get a few blocks clear of the crowd before you open the app.
From Bank One Ballpark to today
Ground was broken in November 1995, and the roughly 354 million dollar building debuted as Bank One Ballpark for the new Diamondbacks franchise in 1998. No American stadium before it had paired a retractable roof with a natural grass field. When Bank One became part of JPMorgan Chase, the name changed to Chase Field in 2005. The Maricopa County Stadium District owns the building.
Arizona went 4–0 at home in the 2001 World Series on the way to a seven-game win over the New York Yankees. Later came the 2011 All-Star Game, the WWE Royal Rumble in 2019 and Games 3 through 5 of the 2023 World Series. Grass gave way to turf in 2019, a center-field video board of about 9,600 square feet went up before the 2026 season, and a state law signed in September 2025, House Bill 2704, opened the door to using sales tax revenue for renovations.
