BMO Stadium

22,000 for soccer · west sideline 125–135 for shade

LAFC and Angel City FC play in a steep 22,000-seat soccer stadium in Exposition Park, where the side you sit on decides sun, shade and noise.

LAFC's home, formerly Banc of California Stadium

BMO Stadium is the soccer-specific stadium at 3939 South Figueroa Street in Exposition Park, just south of the USC campus and next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It is home to Los Angeles FC of Major League Soccer and Angel City FC of the NWSL, and it seats 22,000 for soccer. For most fans the best seats are on the west sideline, sections 125–135 and 225–235, which get afternoon and evening shade and face the stadium's supporters' end from a clean side angle. For noise and flags, the North End is the place, but it is a standing section built for the hard core.

The stadium opened in April 2018 as Banc of California Stadium. The bank ended its naming deal early in 2020, and on January 19, 2023, BMO, part of Bank of Montreal, was announced as the new sponsor. Sections and gates are the same, so an old Banc of California seating chart still works.

The bowl: 100s, 200s and the North End

The bowl is a compact rectangle, and its rake is the headline. The seating rises at a 34-degree incline, among the steepest in MLS, and the closest seats are about 12 feet from the field. That steepness means even upper seats sit almost on top of the touchline.

Lower level (100s)

Section numbers in the 100s ring the field. ShadedSeats places sections 109–117 on the east sideline, 120–124 behind the south goal and 125–135 on the west sideline. The north goal holds the supporters' section.

Upper level (200s)

The 200s mirror the lower sections above them: 208–217 on the east side, 220–224 at the south end and 225–235 on the west.

The North End and the 3252

Behind the north goal is the home of The 3252, LAFC's best-known supporters' group, named for the number of places in the safe-standing section (seat-free terraces with rail barriers, where fans stand throughout). It has angled, rollercoaster-style rails and a removable stage for concerts. Expect to stand, sing and wave flags for 90 minutes.

Premium seating

Suites for 16 to 30 guests, loge boxes and three clubs fill out the premium options, and the open-air Sunset Deck holds up to 350 guests.

Best seats at BMO Stadium for soccer and concerts

  • Best overall for a match: lower west sideline near midfield, about 12 rows up, where you see tactical shape and the bench area without craning.
  • Best angle for the whole pitch: the front rows of the 200s on either sideline. The steep rake makes these feel closer than upper decks elsewhere.
  • Atmosphere: the North End supporters' section, if you plan to stand, chant and stay for the whole match.
  • Behind the south goal: sections 120–124 and 220–224 shade early in afternoon matches and give a good view of attacks coming toward you.

Concerts

For concerts, capacity rises toward 24,000 with fans on the field. The North End's removable stage points to its typical end-stage setup at that end, so sideline sections closest to the stage give the nearest elevated views, while seats at the far south end face the stage head-on from distance. Floor general admission is a standing crowd; arrive early if you want to be near the front.

Seats to think twice about

  • East sideline (109–117, 208–217) at a day match: sunny from early afternoon to sunset.
  • The North End if you want to sit: you will not.
  • Low corner rows: close, but the far end of the pitch flattens out.

Sun and shade under the canopy

Southern California sun is the main comfort factor at a 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. kickoff. ShadedSeats describes the stadium as set roughly north to south, with a split roof: a C-shaped canopy over the south, west and north sides and a separate piece over the east, with gaps that show the downtown skyline.

  • Early afternoon: the south end, 120–124 and 220–224, is shaded.
  • Late afternoon and evening: the west side, 125–135 and 225–235, is shaded.
  • Back rows of 208–217: covered by the roof, though the upper east side holds sun longest in the evening.
  • Sunniest: the North End supporters' section and the lower east sideline, 109–117, in early afternoon.

For a night match, sun stops mattering after the first half hour, and the east side becomes a fine choice.

BMO Stadium parking and the Metro

The simplest way in is Metro. The E Line stops at Expo Park/USC, about a 10-minute walk away, and the J Line stops at 37th St/USC, about 1,000 feet from the stadium along Figueroa Street.

On-site parking is limited to the north and southwest lots, sold as a ticket add-on through Ticketmaster and the LAFC app. As of 2026, the club says it costs less when bought before match day and usually sells out by kickoff. Rideshare drop-off and pickup uses a lot outside the Southeast Entrance, and there are about 100 permanent bike parking spaces around Exposition Park. Big events at the Coliseum next door can share roads and lots, so check the Exposition Park calendar.

Clear-bag policy and entry rules

As of 2026, LAFC's stadium page sets a clear-bag rule for BMO Stadium; check the current bag policy before you go.

  • Allowed: one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear storage bag.
  • Not allowed: non-clear bags, including small clutches. That is stricter than many arenas, so leave the purse at home.
  • Exceptions: medically necessary items, after inspection and stadium approval.
  • Blankets and jackets: may be carried openly, subject to search.

Seven gates open for LAFC and Angel City matches. For concerts, entry and bag rules can be set by the touring production, so read the event page as well.

From the Sports Arena site to Olympic venue

BMO Stadium stands on the site of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, demolished by October 2016. The naming deal with Banc of California was announced at the August 23, 2016 groundbreaking. Gensler designed the stadium, PCL Construction built it, and it cost about 350 million dollars. Its roof is covered with 190,000 square feet of ETFE film, a lightweight translucent plastic.

  • April 29, 2018: the first match, a 1–0 LAFC win over Seattle.
  • 2019: group matches of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
  • 2021: the MLS All-Star Game.
  • 2022: LAFC hosts and wins MLS Cup.
  • 2023: the BMO Stadium name arrives in January.
  • 2028: scheduled to host flag football and lacrosse at the Los Angeles Olympics.

Concerts have included Blackpink, Twice, The Killers and Swedish House Mafia. The Wikipedia article has more detail.
