It is home to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Memphis's arena, a block off Beale Street
FedExForum is the city-owned arena at 191 Beale Street in downtown Memphis. It is home to the Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA and the University of Memphis Tigers men's basketball team, both of whom moved over from the Pyramid when it opened in 2004, and it hosts concerts, family shows, wrestling and NCAA tournament games. It seats 16,667 for basketball under its current configuration; it was designed for 18,119, a figure still used for concerts.
For basketball, the best seats are the lower sideline sections 104–106 and 113–115, with 105 and 114 at midcourt. The best value is the front of the 200 level, known as the Terrace Level, along the sidelines. Because the playing floor sits below street level and the building is compact for an NBA arena, the upper deck is closer to the court than in most of the league.
FedExForum seating layout by level
Section numbers here come from the RateYourSeats section directory and the TickPick Grizzlies seating guide, which agree on the lower-level layout.
Plaza Level: sections 101–119
The lower bowl runs from 101 to 119, with small cut-in sections lettered A (103A, 107A through 112A and 116A). Sections 104–106 and 113–115 line the two sidelines, with 105 and 114 at midcourt. TickPick places the Grizzlies' bench by section 104 and the visitors' bench in front of 106. Most sections have 15 to 25 rows.
Courtside, floor and club boxes
About 1,000 premier courtside seats ring the floor, and Wikipedia counts 27 courtside suites, 32 club suites, four party suites and 80 club boxes. Club access includes the Opus restaurant and the Blue Note Lounge.
Pinnacle Club Level
Sections P1 through P14 form the Pinnacle Club Level, and TickPick places club seating in the middle tier of the building; RateYourSeats lists P4 and P11 among the best midcourt views in the building.
Terrace Level: sections 201–232
The upper level runs from 201 to 232. RateYourSeats lists 207 and 208 among the sideline sections. Section 210, for example, runs from row A to row Y. The first ten rows are the ones to target: easier concourse access and a much better view of the floor than the top rows of the large sideline sections.
Best seats for basketball and concerts
Grizzlies and Tigers basketball
Sit in 104–106 or 113–115, about eight to 18 rows up, for the full-court view without the flat angle of the first rows. Section 104, by the Grizzlies' bench, puts you near the huddles. For a Tigers game, the same sideline sections are the pick.
Value
The front rows of the Terrace Level on the sidelines show plays developing at both ends. The corners of the Plaza Level are another good compromise, with a diagonal view of the whole court.
Concerts
For an end-stage show, the Plaza Level sides closest to the stage give the best elevated views, and the sections facing the stage show the full production. Floor seats are closest but flat. Sections behind the stage are usually closed or sold as partial view.
Seats to avoid
- Low rows behind the baskets: the stanchion is in your sightline, although FedExForum introduced the see-through shot clock to help these seats.
- Top rows of the Terrace Level corners: the farthest seats in the building.
- Side-stage sections at concerts: check for obstructed-view notes.
FedExForum parking and getting downtown
The attached Gossett Motors Parking Garage has about 1,500 spaces on five levels, entered from Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue between B.B. King Boulevard and Fourth Street. As of 2026, garage parking for Grizzlies and Tigers basketball is sold by the season, so single-game fans should plan on surface lots and private garages around downtown. For other events, garage parking is first come, first served, with rates set by event type.
FedExForum has a single main entry, with drop-off at the door for guests with disabilities. Beale Street is the obvious pregame stop, but its restaurants and clubs fill early on game nights, especially when the Tigers and Grizzlies play at home on the same weekend.
Clear-bag policy and entry rules
As of 2026, FedExForum allows only clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags no larger than 6 by 8 by 2 inches, or a one-quart clear storage bag, plus a wallet small enough for a pocket. Medical and diaper bags are allowed after inspection, and guests with medical bags use marked doors in the Grand Lobby. Check the current policy before you go.
- Doors: 90 minutes before Grizzlies games and typically one hour before other events.
- Re-entry: not allowed.
- Prohibited: outside food and drink, video and professional cameras, laptops, selfie sticks, signs and banners, and large umbrellas.
- Smoking: only in designated areas outside.
- Accessibility: wheelchairs are available at the Guest Relations centers by sections 102 and 202.
Details are on the arena's Know Before You Go page.
History and the renovation ahead
The Pyramid, opened in 1991, was judged unfit for the NBA within a decade, so when the Vancouver Grizzlies moved to Memphis in 2001, the city built a new arena. FedExForum cost about 250 million dollars, financed with public bonds, and FedEx bought the naming rights for 92 million dollars. Ellerbe Becket designed it with an interior that celebrates Memphis music. It opened in September 2004 and was the first arena to use the see-through shot clocks now standard across the NBA.
It has hosted NCAA South Regional finals in 2009, 2014 and 2017, the first American Athletic Conference tournament in 2014, UFC 107 in 2009 and an NHL preseason game in 2006. A major renovation is coming: city and county officials put its cost at about 550 million dollars, Populous is the architect, and on October 8, 2026, the Memphis and Shelby County Sports Authority voted on construction and funding agreements with contractor Flintco. Officials have said the work could stretch to 2032, and the Grizzlies' lease runs through 2029, so expect construction changes to entrances or concessions and check before you go.
