Reading the Kohl Center seating chart

The Kohl Center seating chart is three stacked rings of 28 sections each: the 100 level (sections 101–128), the 200 level (201–228) and the 300 level (301–328). Every deck uses the same pattern, so 108, 208 and 308 sit one above another at midcourt on one sideline, and 122, 222 and 322 do the same on the other. For Wisconsin basketball, the best seats are middle rows of 107–109 and 121–123; the best value is the front rows of 207–209 and 221–223, which hang out over the lower bowl.

The arena has carried the Kohl Center name since it opened, so there is no former-name chart to reconcile.

  • Closest: courtside and floor seats.
  • Best balance: 108 and 122, rows A–M.
  • Best value: rows A–C of 208 and 222.
  • Loudest: the student end, 113–117 and the decks above it.

Three decks of 28 sections: the layout

The layout below comes from RateYourSeats' Wisconsin basketball and concert charts and its section directory. Stadium Journey's hockey review and UW Athletics' guest-services page cite sections in the same ranges. UW Athletics' venue page does not link a downloadable map, so confirm your seat on the ticket seller's map.

100 level: 101–128

Section 101 sits at the middle of the north end, behind one basket. Numbers rise along the east sideline, with 108 at midcourt, reach 115 at the middle of the south end, return along the west sideline with 122 at midcourt and finish at 128 beside 101. On RateYourSeats' chart, with the benches at the top, the numbers run clockwise. The corners hold four small wedge sections, 104, 112, 118 and 126, with only a handful of rows each.

200 level: 201–228

The first balcony repeats the pattern exactly: 201 above 101, 208 above 108, 215 above 115 and 222 above 122. Because the deck overhangs the lower bowl, its front row sits closer to the floor than its section number suggests.

300 level: 301–328

The top deck follows the same order, with 308 and 322 at midcourt and 315 at the student end. RateYourSeats lists every 300-level section at 12 rows, so there are no deep corners up top.

Compass directions vary by source. RateYourSeats labels the 113–117 end as south, while Stadium Journey's hockey review calls the student end the west end. Use section numbers rather than compass points when you compare charts.

Double-lettered rows and where seat 1 sits

Lower-level rows. The 100 level uses two sets of letters, which is the most common source of confusion on this chart. Per RateYourSeats, the end sections (101, 102, 114, 115, 116 and 128) start with double-lettered rows AA–NN and then continue A–M, so row A is about 15 rows up. The sideline sections (106–110 and 120–124) start with AA–EE or CC–EE in front of a single-letter run from A to T. A fan review of 108 puts row C about seven or eight rows behind the media table. Smaller wedges run fewer rows: 103 and 113 hold A–N, 104 and 112 hold K–T, 126 holds H–T and 118 only Q–T.

200-level rows. Most sections run A–J, entered from the top at row J. The ends, 201 and 215, run A–K, and the midcourt section 208 is shallower at A–G.

300-level rows. Every upper section runs A–L, with the entry at row D, so rows A–C are below the walkway.

Seat numbering. RateYourSeats says seat 1 is on your right as you face the court or stage, in every section, and a fan review of 108 places seat 11 roughly in line with the half-court stripe. No second guide states seat order, so confirm with your ticket listing.

Best seats for Badgers basketball

RateYourSeats places the Wisconsin bench in front of section 123 and the visitors' bench in front of 121, with the scorer's table between them on the 120–124 sideline. Sections 106–110 face the benches from across the floor.

  • Pick: 108 or 122, single-letter rows A–M. Section 108 faces both benches from across the floor.
  • Behind the Badgers: 123 and 124 for seeing Wisconsin up close during timeouts.
  • Courtside Club: RateYourSeats places these floor seats along the sideline across from the benches and behind each basket, with Nicholas Club access.
  • Nicholas Club seats: padded seats at the top of 101, 102 and 128, at the north end, with club access, per RateYourSeats.
  • Value: rows A–C of 207–209 and 221–223.
  • Student section: RateYourSeats puts the student sections at the south end, 113–117, 214–216 and 314–316. Pick another end if you want to stay seated.
  • Think twice: low double-lettered rows behind the baskets, which look down the length of the court rather than across it, and aisle seats low in the 300 level. A fan in 322, row C, seat 1 reported that the aisle guard rail blocked one end of the court.

Hockey and concert setups

Badgers hockey

The rink fits inside the same bowl, so the section numbers carry over. Stadium Journey's reviewer recommends 207 or 209 for hockey, where both benches and the center-ice logo face you. The same review places the student section at the 113–116 end, extending up into the 200 level, with the band at the back of 117.

End-stage concerts

RateYourSeats' concert chart puts the stage at the 114–116 end, against the student-section sections, with the floor sections filling the court. That makes 101, 201 and 301 at the far end the head-on seats.

  • Closest: the floor sections nearest the stage.
  • Raised side view: 106–110 and 120–124, where the long sideline runs down to the stage.
  • Limited view: RateYourSeats flags 112–118, 212, 215, 218, 312, 315 and 319 as behind or beside the stage for most shows.
  • Full production: 101, 102 and 128 and the decks above them.

Kohl Center seat views by level

  • Floor and courtside: at court level; closest, but flat.
  • 100 level, double-lettered rows: low and near the floor, best on the sidelines.
  • 100 level, rows A–T: the classic broadcast angle from the sidelines, especially 107–109 and 121–123.
  • 200 level, rows A–C: one of the best sightlines in the building, because the balcony hangs over the lower bowl.
  • 300 level, rows A–C: high but compact, below the entry walkway.
  • 300 level, rows E–L: the top of the building, a full but distant view, and quieter than the lower decks, per a fan review on RateYourSeats.

Accessible seating at the Kohl Center

UW Athletics does not publish a section-by-section list of wheelchair positions for the Kohl Center. Its guest-services page says wheelchair escorts and assistive listening devices are available at every Kohl Center event, and that seats for guests with service animals must be requested from the ticket seller at purchase.

  • When you buy: use the accessible-seating filter on your ticket listing, or contact the UW Athletics ticket office to match a position to the section you want.
  • Upper decks: the 300 level's entry sits at row D, so rows A–C involve steps down from the walkway.
  • Family restrooms: UW Athletics lists them near sections 105, 111, 119, 125, 201, 215 and 228.

Check the UW Athletics guest services page for current contacts before you go.
