Your seat decision in 30 seconds

For most buyers, the right seat at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is on the 200-level sideline between the 20-yard lines. It sits above the players, so you read the whole field, yet close enough that the action does not shrink. If you want to feel the game rather than study it, pick the 100-level sideline in rows 10 to 25. If the budget comes first, the 300 level still offers clean sightlines and puts you near the Halo board for replays.

  • Closest to the action: 100-level sideline, mid-rows rather than the first few.
  • Best all-around view: 200-level sideline, where much of the club inventory also sits.
  • Lowest cost with a usable view: 300-level sideline, high but unobstructed.
  • Most noise: section 134, the Dirty Birds Nest, a standing section for Falcons fans.

The building is the 71,000-seat, retractable-roof home of the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Atlanta United FC (MLS) in downtown Atlanta, and it can stretch to about 75,000 for the largest football dates.

Level-by-level breakdown

100 level: the lower bowl

The lower bowl wraps the field and runs roughly 35 rows deep on the sidelines, which means even a row-30 ticket sits below every seat on the next tier. Club sections are marked with a "C" after the number. Along one sideline the clubs cover sections 108C through 112C, with the AMG Lounge at 110C; across the field they cover 126C through 130C, with the Truist Club at 128C. Loge boxes, small seating pods sold as all-inclusive packages, sit at 106L, 114L, 124L and 132L, and two terraces sit right at field level.

200 level: the middle tier

This is the premium band. The Harrah's Club occupies 210C to 212C and 236C to 238C between the 30-yard lines, and the AT&T Lofts fill the 221 to 225 range. Non-club 200-level seats share the same height advantage, which is why many regulars send first-time visitors here.

300 level: the upper deck

The upper tier circles the entire bowl beneath the roof structure. It is steep, so you look down on the field rather than across it. In the 300-level end zone, the Sports Illustrated Lounge replaced about 700 standard seats with cushioned premium seating.

One caution: published guides disagree on which sideline the Falcons use, so do not pay extra for a listing that promises the home bench. Confirm on the stadium's chart for your event.

Seats to pick for each event

Falcons and college football

Football rewards a sideline seat with some height. Between the 20s on the 200 level, you see formations set and routes open. In the 100 level, aim for row 10 or higher: the first half-dozen rows put standing players and sideline staff between you and the far side of the field. Lower end-zone seats cost less and frame scoring plays well at your end; for the other end, you will lean on the Halo board.

The same advice holds for the college calendar the stadium carries: the SEC Championship Game (contracted through 2027), the Peach Bowl, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and the Celebration Bowl. It also hosted Super Bowl LIII in 2019 and College Football Playoff National Championship games in 2018 and 2025, and the Super Bowl returns for Super Bowl LXII in 2028.

Atlanta United and soccer

Soccer needs more height than football, because the game is about spacing. A midfield seat on the 200 level, or in the back half of the 100 level, shows both teams' shape. During United matches, continuous standing is allowed only in 100-level sections, so if you plan to sit for 90 minutes, look higher or toward the end away from the supporters. The full bowl opens for the biggest matches; United's 2018 MLS Cup win over Portland drew 73,019, an MLS attendance record that still stands. The stadium also staged eight matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a semifinal among them, and an NWSL expansion team is planned for 2028.

Stadium concerts

Most tours use an end stage. The floor is closest but flat, so your view depends on who stands in front of you. Lower-bowl sideline sections angled toward the stage usually give the better blend of distance and sightline.

Seats to skip, and why

  • Front rows of the 100 level for football. They feel close but sit behind a wall of players and staff. Row 10 and up sees more.
  • Hard-side concert seats. Sections directly beside an end stage can lose the screens and much of the production.
  • The far 300-level end for concerts. You are a long way from the performers and depend entirely on video.
  • Section 134 if you want to sit. The Dirty Birds Nest stands and chants the whole game, which is the point for some fans and a problem for others.

Sun is rarely a factor, since the roof is often closed. For an open-roof day game, low-angle light can come through the opening, and seats tucked under the upper overhangs are the safer choice. The east side is a tall glass wall facing the downtown skyline, which gives upper seats on the west side a view of the city as a bonus.

Arriving, entry and bags

Take MARTA if you can. The stadium points fans to SEC District station (formerly GWCC/CNN Center); Vine City on the Blue and Green lines is the other close stop. Platforms jam after the final whistle, so either linger for 15 minutes or walk to whichever station is less crowded.

Drivers have more than 20,000 spaces within a 20-minute walk, according to the stadium, but popular events sell out, so buy parking ahead. Rideshare uses two zones: one at the Georgia World Congress Center on Northside Drive, roughly ten minutes on foot and the natural pick for Gate 1, and one in South Downtown along Broad Street that suits Gates 2 through 4. Falcons games add a shuttle from Atlantic Station operating from two hours pregame until 90 minutes after the final whistle, and free bike valet sits between Gates 3 and 4. Tailgaters use The Home Depot Backyard, an 11-acre lot next door where gas grills are allowed and charcoal or wood fires are not. Current details are on the stadium's parking and transportation page.

As of the 2026 season, a clear-bag policy applies: clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a non-clear clutch smaller than 4.5 by 6.5 inches. The fastest line is the one for fans with no bag.

  • Tickets: mobile only, delivered in the team apps or Ticketmaster.
  • Doors: open 90 minutes ahead of Falcons and Atlanta United kickoffs; concert times differ.
  • Payment: cards and phones only; kiosks near sections 101 and 122 turn cash into a prepaid card.
  • Re-entry: none.
  • Tobacco: the campus is tobacco-free, vaping included.

Policies get revised, so read the venue's A-to-Z guide before you go. Every Reserved Seat order is backed by a 100% guarantee.

Background worth knowing

Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in August 2017 beside the site of the Georgia Dome, which it replaced, and the college games listed above moved over from the Dome that same year. The price tag came to about 1.6 billion dollars.

Its roof is the signature: eight translucent triangular panels slide on rails in a pinwheel pattern. Mechanical problems kept it from working as designed until July 2018; it now opens or closes in about eight minutes. Inside, the Halo board is a 58-foot-tall LED ring that runs roughly 1,100 linear feet, which is why upper-deck seats feel less remote than their height suggests. No American pro sports venue earned LEED Platinum certification before this one, and more than 180 commissioned artworks hang throughout.

Concessions follow a "Fan First" menu, a short, fixed set of basics (hot dogs, pretzels, soft-drink refills) kept far cheaper than the league norm, with local vendors filling out the concourses. Lines are shorter mid-quarter than at the half. For other Atlanta venues, including State Farm Arena, see the Atlanta city guide, and the Atlanta Falcons page covers the team itself.

Frequently asked questions

Which level gives the best view of a Falcons game?

The 200-level sideline between the 20-yard lines is the strongest all-around choice. It is high enough to see plays develop and close enough that players stay easy to follow.

How many people does Mercedes-Benz Stadium hold?

About 71,000 for football, expandable to roughly 75,000. Soccer starts from a 42,500 setup and opens to the full bowl for big matches, including the 73,019 who attended the 2018 MLS Cup.

Can you stand during Atlanta United matches?

Continuous standing is permitted only in the 100-level sections during United matches. Fans who want to sit throughout should pick the 200 or 300 level.

Is the roof open during games?

It depends on the event and the weather. The eight-panel roof opens or closes in about eight minutes, and on most dates sun is not a concern.

Can I pay with cash inside?

No. The stadium is cashless, taking card and mobile payment, and cash-to-card kiosks are near sections 101 and 122.

What size bag can I bring?

As of 2026, clear bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a non-clear clutch under 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Check the stadium's guide before your event, since rules can change.
