Upcoming events in Atlanta
Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
Start with the part of town, then the seat
The best Atlanta seat for most events is a lower-level side seat close to the stage or field, and the venues that host those events cluster in three zones. Downtown, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena stand side by side on MARTA rail. Midtown has the Fox Theatre and a small comedy room on Peachtree Street. Cobb County, about 10 miles northwest, has Truist Park, where the Braves play inside The Battery Atlanta district. Choose the zone first, because crossing the metro on a game night costs more time than any seat upgrade is worth.
Five pro franchises call the metro home: the NFL's Falcons, MLB's Braves, the NBA's Hawks, MLS club Atlanta United FC and the WNBA's Dream. Its downtown stadium hosts the Peach Bowl and the SEC Championship Game, staged Super Bowl LIII in 2019 and is scheduled for Super Bowl LXII in 2028.
- Downtown zone: the stadium, the arena and the Tabernacle music hall.
- Midtown zone: the Fox Theatre plus the Laughing Skull Lounge.
- Cobb zone: the Braves' ballpark and its neighbor, the Coca-Cola Roxy.
- Everything else: Lakewood Amphitheatre (south side), College Park's Gateway Center Arena, Gas South Arena (Gwinnett) and, up in Alpharetta, Helium.
Where to sit in Atlanta's concert venues
State Farm Arena
The arena opened as Philips Arena in September 1999 and was gutted and rebuilt inside during 2017–18. Depending on how the stage is set, a concert here holds somewhere between 18,000 and 21,000 people. For an end-stage show, pick a lower-level seat on the side near the stage over a rear floor ticket, where sightlines depend on the crowd. The rebuild created courtside cabanas and club areas, so certain lower seats are sold only in bundles with hospitality. The 2026 bag limit is 14 x 14 x 6 inches, and backpacks stay outside.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Stadium tours play the Falcons' home, which seats 71,000 under an eight-panel retractable roof. Sideline seats in the 100 level near the stage balance sightline and sound best. From the far end of the upper level, the performers are small, so you will rely on the ring-shaped Halo video board.
Fox Theatre
The Fox (660 Peachtree Street) began as a movie palace in 1929 and now fits 4,665 people for Broadway tours, concerts and the Atlanta Ballet's season. Orchestra seats are closest; the front rows of the upper levels frequently see the stage more cleanly than the last orchestra rows.
The Tabernacle and the Coca-Cola Roxy
Built as a church in 1911 and converted to a concert room in 1996, the Tabernacle fits around 2,600 for rock, hip-hop and comedy bills; Dave Chappelle recorded his Sticks and Stones special there. At The Battery, the Coca-Cola Roxy (2017) pairs a level standing floor for roughly 4,000 with 800 permanent balcony seats. Because the floor does not slope, a balcony seat is the safer pick if you are shorter than the crowd.
Lakewood Amphitheatre
Lakewood dates to 1989 and sits roughly four miles below downtown. Of its 18,920 capacity, around 7,000 are reserved seats and 12,000 fit on the lawn. The lawn suits a relaxed, lower-cost night; a reserved seat is the move if you came to see the performers, not the video screens.
Atlanta comedy rooms and where to sit in them
- The Punchline, Roswell Road NE in north Atlanta: headliners have played this club since 1982. Bring ID showing you are 21 or older, and book ahead, since walk-ins are not the norm.
- Laughing Skull Lounge, tucked behind the Vortex on Peachtree in Midtown: 74 seats, open since 2009, adults 21 and up only. Early-week nights are given to showcases and open-mic sets.
- Helium Comedy Club, Windward Plaza in Alpharetta: touring names in a room built so that every seat is within 60 feet of the comic. Admission starts at 18, each guest orders at least two food or drink items, and the three-act lineup (opener, feature, headliner) fills roughly an hour and 40 minutes.
- Dad's Garage: Atlanta's leading improv company, which also teaches classes.
- Uptown Comedy Corner: a brand that books shows at various sites, so check which building your ticket names.
Seat choice in a club is about participation. In a 74-seat room, the front row becomes part of the act; sit a few tables back if you would rather watch. When an arena-size comic plays the Tabernacle, take the balcony over the back of the standing floor.
Atlanta's teams and the seats to target
- Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in use since August 26, 2017, holds 71,000 in its football setup with room to grow to 75,000. December brings the SEC title game and the Celebration Bowl, and the Peach Bowl follows. Doors open an hour and a half before Falcons and United kickoffs.
- Atlanta Hawks: State Farm Arena seats 17,608 for basketball. Sideline seats in the lower level give the best look at both ends of the court.
- Atlanta Braves: Truist Park, known as SunTrust Park through 2020, debuted in 2017 in Cobb County's Cumberland district. Because the ballpark steps down a hillside, the main gates put you mid-stadium, and many seats are a walk downhill from there. Roughly three of every five seats sit under a metal canopy; if afternoon sun matters to you, confirm your section is covered before buying.
- Atlanta Dream: the WNBA club moved to College Park's Gateway Center Arena for 2021.
- Atlanta Gladiators (ECHL): minor league hockey in Duluth at Gas South Arena, roughly 30 miles up I-85.
Atlanta dates that sell out first
- New Year's period: the Peach Bowl stages a playoff quarterfinal on January 1, 2027, and the Hawks are mid-season.
- Late March onward: Braves home games at Truist Park through the summer and into fall.
- Spring through fall: United's MLS season, WNBA games each summer and the amphitheater's outdoor run.
- September to January: Falcons football, plus two December college games downtown.
- Any month: Broadway tours at the Fox, arena concerts and stand-up most nights.
A December weekend that stacks the conference title game, an NFL home date and an arena concert is the hardest time to find a downtown room or a parking space. Buy early and plan on MARTA.
MARTA, rideshare and the drive to Cobb
- Downtown pair: ride MARTA to SEC District, which lets out beside the arena, or to Vine City; both work for the stadium. Rail beats any garage on event nights.
- Cobb County: no MARTA train goes to the Braves' park. Driving and rideshare are the norm, and the team has offered a circulator bus; look up this season's version before you count on it.
- Midtown: Peachtree Street links the Fox and the Laughing Skull, and Midtown's rail stations are close by.
- The outer venues: Lakewood, College Park, Gwinnett and Alpharetta all call for a car or rideshare, and the Connector and the Perimeter (I-285) are slow at rush hour.
For 2026, the downtown stadium's rules are a transparent bag no bigger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches (or a small clutch), no cash sales, and no leaving and coming back in. The venue's policy guide has the current list.
Choosing a base in metro Atlanta
- Centennial Olympic Park area: big convention hotels a short walk from every downtown venue.
- Midtown: best for theater and comedy nights, with Peachtree dining and quick trains downtown.
- The Battery Atlanta: sleep beside the ballpark and skip the Cobb traffic entirely.
- The northern suburbs: closest to the two big stand-up clubs.
Group each night around one zone instead of crossing the region. Every Reserved Seat order includes guaranteed entry. For Braves game times, gate hours and shuttle details, use the Braves ballpark page.
Frequently asked questions
Which Truist Park seats are in the shade?
Roughly 60 percent of Truist Park's seating sits under its canopy. If shade matters for a day game, confirm that your section sits under the canopy before you buy.
Where should you sit for a concert at State Farm Arena?
For end-stage shows, lower side sections close to the stage usually beat a rear floor ticket. Concerts hold between about 18,000 and 21,000.
Is the Punchline open to guests under 21?
No. The Punchline admits only guests 21 and older with ID, and it asks you to reserve ahead. Helium Comedy Club in Alpharetta admits guests 18 and over.
How do you get to Truist Park without driving?
MARTA rail does not serve Truist Park. Rideshare is the usual choice, and the team has offered shuttle service in past seasons, so check its site.
Which stations serve the downtown stadium and arena?
Two MARTA stops work: SEC District, right beside the arena, and Vine City. Both are a short walk to the stadium.
Which events does Mercedes-Benz Stadium host besides the Falcons?
Atlanta United matches, three college football games each season (the Peach Bowl, the SEC title game and the Celebration Bowl) and stadium concerts. It hosted Super Bowl LIII and is scheduled to host Super Bowl LXII in 2028.
