The fast answer on Superdome seats
The best value in the Caesars Superdome is the Upper Box: the first six rows of the 500 level, which put you at the front of the upper deck with an unobstructed look at the whole field. If you want to feel the noise, buy a Plaza sideline seat in the teens or higher. If you want the best football angle and do not mind paying for it, the Loge Club sideline seats sit at an ideal height with club lounge access.
The New Orleans Saints play under this downtown New Orleans dome, which seats 73,208 for football and stretches to 76,468 when the largest events come to town. Its calendar adds the Sugar Bowl, the Bayou Classic, the New Orleans Bowl, the evening concerts of the Essence Festival of Culture, stadium tours and, regularly, the Super Bowl. The roof is fixed, so heat and rain never matter. Sound does: the closed dome holds crowd noise in, and the lower bowl is famously loud.
How Plaza, Loge Club, Upper Box and Terrace differ
The Superdome names its levels, and the names map onto section numbers this way, based on seat-level data from RateYourSeats:
- Plaza (100s): the lower bowl, nearest the field and nearest the noise.
- Loge Club (200s and 300s): premium sideline seating split across two short tiers. The 200s are only a handful of rows (section 259 runs rows 1 to 4), roughly 35 rows above field level, and the 300s pick up right behind them starting at row 5.
- Upper Box (500s): rows 1 through 6 of the upper level.
- Terrace (600s): the rest of the upper level, starting at row 7 and climbing toward the roof. Section 641, for example, runs from row 7 to row 36.
The 500s and 600s form one continuous deck, so a 600-level ticket can sit anywhere from just behind the Upper Box to near the roof; check the row. RateYourSeats places 259, 340 and 641 along the home sideline; confirm the sideline on your listing's map before you pay a premium for it.
Saints game seats, ranked
- Loge Club sideline: the best football view in the building, high enough to read formations and routes, with lounge access. Priced accordingly.
- Plaza sideline, rows in the teens and up: close, loud and high enough to see over the players and staff along the bench.
- Upper Box sideline: the value leader. You lose closeness but gain a clean, full-field view with no one in front of you but the rail.
- Terrace near midfield: the budget option. Section 641 can be entered at row 7 or at row 22, so the walk up is shorter than the height suggests.
The Saints' regular season starts in September and ends in early January, and playoff games follow for qualifying teams. Demand peaks for division rivals, prime-time games and any late-season game with playoff stakes.
Bowl games, the Bayou Classic and concerts
College football
Thanksgiving weekend brings the Bayou Classic, Grambling State against Southern; December and January bring the New Orleans Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. At these games, each school's fans tend to gather on one side or end of the stadium. Pick a section next to your school's band or cheering section if you want to be surrounded by your own colors.
Concerts and festivals
Stadium tours and Essence Fest, held in early July, usually use an end-stage setup. The Plaza and Loge sideline sections closest to the stage give you the right mix of closeness and angle. The far-end Terrace looks the length of the dome at a far-off stage, which is fine for atmosphere and weak for seeing performers.
Seats worth skipping
- Upper Terrace rows in the corners and behind the goal posts: the farthest seats from the field, at a steep angle. They are the least expensive way in, and they feel like it.
- The first few Plaza rows on the sidelines: close, but players, coaches and staff standing along the bench block much of the field.
Doors, bags and payment
For the 2025 season, the stadium applied the league's clear-bag rule: you could carry one transparent bag (plastic, vinyl or PVC) up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches or a one-gallon clear freezer bag, plus a clutch no larger than roughly 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Check the venue's current rules in the Saints gameday playbook before you go.
- Gate timing: during 2025, doors opened 120 minutes ahead of kickoff.
- Champions Square: this outdoor plaza next to the dome let ticket holders in an hour earlier than the gates, but entering the stadium from the Square was a one-way trip.
- Tickets: Saints tickets are fully mobile, in the Saints or SeatGeek app.
- Payment: cashless throughout, parking included.
- Which gate: Loge Club guests enter at C or G, and fans headed to the Terrace can ride escalators from B, D or H.
Reserved Seat orders come with guaranteed entry.
Getting downtown: streetcar, rideshare and garages
The address is 1500 Sugar Bowl Drive, in the CBD (Central Business District), so plenty of hotels downtown and in the French Quarter are a walk away.
- Streetcar: catch the Loyola Avenue streetcar from Union Passenger Terminal and get off at Poydras Street, a short walk from the dome; the line also meets the Canal Street streetcar for trips to and from the Quarter.
- Rideshare: pickups happen on Poydras Street, in the stretch from Loyola Avenue to Carondelet Street. It is geofenced, so the app will only let you request a ride once you are inside it.
- Parking: season ticket holders hold most of the spaces in the stadium's numbered garages and the Champions Garage. A smaller pool of single-game spots has been offered in Garage 1A, Lots 3 and 3A, and the Champions Garage, with mobile-only passes. Vehicles go through enhanced screening.

Fifty years under the dome
The stadium opened on August 3, 1975, as the Louisiana Superdome, built for about 134 million dollars under a dome 680 feet in diameter and 253 feet tall. Mercedes-Benz held the naming rights from 2011, and Caesars took over in 2021. It is owned by the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District, a state entity, and operated by Legends Global.
When Hurricane Katrina struck in August 2005, the dome became the city's shelter of last resort and took severe damage. Repairs of about 193 million dollars brought it back for a Saints game on September 25, 2006, a night that came to stand for the city's recovery. The big events kept coming: Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, best known for the blackout; the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship; and Super Bowl LIX in February 2025, the eighth played here. The largest crowd on record, 78,133, packed in for WrestleMania 34 in 2018.
A renovation that started in January 2020 and finished before the 2025 Super Bowl tore out the old exterior ramps, opened atriums, widened concourses and expanded the clubs.
