Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
The 30-second version
For an Indianapolis Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium, buy a sideline seat on the Loge level (the 300s and 400s). It is high enough to see formations and routes develop and close enough to feel like you are part of the game. If you want to be nearer the field, the Street Level sidelines work best from about row 15 up. If price is the main concern, the Terrace corners and end zones are the way in, but those upper sections are deep, so a high row is a long way out.
Size depends on whom you ask. The stadium lists more than 67,000 fixed seats, expandable past 70,000; Wikipedia gives 63,000 for football and up to 70,000 for basketball. Either way, it is a big room with a roof that can open.
Three levels, six number bands
Each level carries two hundreds of section numbers:
- Street Level, 100s and 200s. The lower bowl, entered from the main concourse at street grade. The 100s are nearest the field.
- Loge Level, 300s and 400s. The middle tier, with club seats and the suite rings.
- Terrace Level, 500s and 600s. The upper deck. Seat guides call some 600-level sections, such as 607 to 619, among the biggest in the NFL.
According to seat guides, the visiting bench sits in front of sections 108 to 118, which places the Colts on the far sideline. Field-level suites are in front of 125 to 128.
Accessible seating is spread through the bowl rather than grouped in one place. Look for a W after the row (row 5W, for example); the stadium counts nearly 1,200 such seats, and event-day changes are handled at the interior ticket windows near section 118.
Seats to pick for each kind of event
Colts football
Loge sidelines are the first choice. On the Street Level, rows below about 15 look straight into the bench area and the crowd of players and staff along the sideline, so climb a little. Home fans who want to be behind the Colts should stay off the 108 to 118 side, where the visitors stand.
Final Four and basketball
A basketball court in the middle of a football stadium shrinks fast. Floor seats and the lowest Street Level sections near the court are the only close views; past the first few sections, most of the crowd watches the videoboards. For a Final Four, a low sideline seat is worth far more than a higher end seat at a similar price.
Concerts
For end-stage shows, lower sideline sections close to the stage balance sound and sightline. The far-end Terrace faces a distant stage, so read the listing's configuration notes.
Seats and conditions to watch for
- Front rows of the Street Level sideline. Close on paper, but the bench crowd blocks the near side.
- High rows of the deep 600s. The biggest sections in the building, and the top of them is a long climb and a long look.
- Upper seats for a basketball event. At that distance you are watching screens, not players.
- Sun on a roof-open afternoon. The two roof panels, each about 2.5 million pounds, open or close in about 9 to 11 minutes, and a large retractable window on the north end frames the skyline. When they are open early in the season, some seats get direct sun.
Reserved Seat backs every ticket with a 100% guarantee.
Walking in, parking and rideshare
The stadium sits at 500 S. Capitol Avenue on the south edge of downtown, and an underground walkway links it to the Indiana Convention Center. If you are staying at a downtown hotel, walking is often faster than driving.
- Lots: Denison Parking runs nearly 2,000 spaces around the stadium, bookable through ParkWhiz. Downtown garages within walking distance fill the gap.
- Accessible parking: may be available in the South Lot on a first-come basis with a valid placard or plate, plus a Colts parking pass on game days.
- Buses and RVs: arranged through Denison Parking.
- Rideshare: pickup and drop-off are on Illinois Street.
For a playoff game, the Big Ten title game or a Final Four, reserve parking early or plan to walk. Lot details are in the stadium's A-Z guide.
Gates, bags and payment (policy as of February 2026)
Four gates ring the building: Lucas Oil on the north, Huntington Bank on the west, Caesars on the south and Verizon on the east. Doors open two hours before Colts kickoffs, with other events on their own schedules. Once you leave the gated area at a Colts game, you cannot return; other events may allow pass-outs at the promoter's discretion.
The clear-bag policy page, updated in February 2026, applies the rule at every event:
- Bags: one transparent plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches. The A-Z guide also permits a gallon-size clear freezer bag and a small clutch.
- Diaper bags: held to the same clear-bag standard.
- Medical items: bags carrying medical devices and supplies, breast pumps included, are exempt but still screened. Breast milk and prescription medicine go in a clear bag or container.
- Food and drink: nothing from outside, though an empty plastic water bottle is fine, with refill stations inside.
Read the current clear-bag policy before you go. Inside, the stadium is cashless everywhere, including the Colts Pro Shop; no-fee cash-to-card kiosks are near sections 105 and 129. Sodexo Live operates more than 160 permanent and portable stands. Smoking and e-cigarettes are allowed only outside the gates.
Why Indianapolis built it
The Colts moved from Baltimore in 1984 and played 24 seasons in the RCA Dome, first called the Hoosier Dome. The roughly 720 million dollar replacement, owned by a state authority, opened in August 2008 and was designed to pull in major events. It worked: Super Bowl XLVI came here in February 2012.
The calendar is now one of the fullest of any stadium. Beyond the NFL season of September into January, the Big Ten Football Championship Game has been here every year since 2011, and the NFL Scouting Combine has evaluated draft prospects here every year since 2009. The NCAA Men's Final Four used the building in 2010, 2015, 2021 and 2026. Marching arts are a fixture too, with the Bands of America Grand National Championships every year since 2008 and Drum Corps International's world championships booked through 2028. Taylor Swift played three Eras Tour shows here in November 2024. The field has been Hellas Matrix Turf since 2024.
