The seat answer, then the name change

For a Tampa Bay Lightning game at Benchmark International Arena, the best all-around seat is center ice on the 100 level, around row 10 or higher. Glass rows are for the experience, the end where the Lightning shoot twice is worth targeting, and the upper corners of the 300 level are the seats to avoid. For end-stage concerts, the floor and lower sections angled at the stage lead, and lower sections facing the stage give the fullest look for the money.

If the name is unfamiliar, the building is not. It is the former Amalie Arena, still standing on Channelside Drive (number 401) on the downtown waterfront. Benchmark International, an M&A advisory firm headquartered in Tampa, put its name on the building under a multiyear agreement effective August 13, 2025. Apps, maps and older tickets may still use the Amalie name.

Hillsborough County owns the arena, and day-to-day operations sit with Tampa Bay Entertainment Properties under the Vinik Sports Group umbrella. Hockey capacity is 19,092; basketball setups hold roughly 20,500 and concert setups up to 21,500.

Reading the three seating rings

100 level: sections 101–130

The lower bowl circles the rink. According to RateYourSeats, the teams sit in front of sections 101, 102 and 130 and the penalty boxes face them across the ice, so those sections and their opposites make up the center-ice sideline. The sections are deep: section 112, for example, runs from row A to row X, plus a wheelchair (WC) row. Facing the ice or stage, seat numbers go down as you move right, which helps when you want an aisle.

200 level

Club seats and suites fill this narrower ring. One club with a buffet sits here behind the visitors' double-shooting net, according to TickPick.

300 level

The upper bowl and the lowest prices in the house.

Premium spaces

Rows A and B of the 100 level are on the glass and are sold as a club with food and drinks covered for Lightning games. The current arena guide (2025–26) adds three more premium names: the Benchmark International Club Level, the Ashley VIP Lounge and the Executive Suite. Expect names and perks to shift after the rebrand.

Seats to pick for Lightning hockey

Around row 10 is where the view settles. Below that, the glass and the players standing at the benches get in the way; above it, you see over everything while staying close to the puck. TickPick's rule of thumb: either the front two rows or row 10 and up.

Choosing an end

Tampa Bay attacks one net in both the first and third periods, so that end sees most of the home team's offense. TickPick locates it at sections 108 and 109; RateYourSeats calls it the 112 end. The visitors attack twice toward 123 and 124, and TickPick notes it usually sells for less, which makes it a reasonable compromise if budget matters more than angle.

Upstairs

On the 300 level, stick to the sides. A center-ice seat up top reads the whole rink and costs far less than anything downstairs.

Concert choices and seats to skip

End-stage shows

Floor seats and the lower-bowl seats angled at the stage command the most. RateYourSeats suggests the lower end sections near the stage as an alternative to the floor, since the height lets you see over the crowd. For the complete production, lights and screens included, sit dead center in the lower bowl across from the stage; those seats are the value buy.

Where you lose out

  • Hockey, rows C through roughly 9 on the 100 level: near the ice, but the boards and glass interrupt your look at the opposite end.
  • The top corners of the 300 ring: the longest distance to both the rink and a stage.
  • Concert side sections right beside the stage: you may see the edge of the set and lose the video screens.

When tickets are hardest to find

Each regular season gives Tampa 41 home dates between early October and mid-April. Exhibition games come in late September, and the postseason can stretch from April to June. Demand peaks for the Florida Panthers, for weekend dates and for Original Six clubs whose fans travel in numbers. Weeknight games against Western Conference teams that visit once a season are usually the easiest.

Between hockey dates, touring concerts and family productions fill the calendar. Big one-off events have included two NHL All-Star Games (1999, 2018), three Frozen Fours (2012, 2016, 2023), four NCAA Women's Final Fours (2008, 2015, 2019, 2025), several WWE premium events such as Backlash in 2026, and UFC cards in 2016, 2019 and 2024. Any ticket bought through Reserved Seat comes with a 100% guarantee.

Channelside parking, the streetcar and doors

Parking

The arena's parking page lists over a dozen options inside about half a mile. Closest, at roughly 0.1 mile, are the Teal Lot and Pam Iorio Parking Garage. The Whiting, Channelside and convention center garages are about 0.3 mile out; Fort Brooke Garage and the aquarium lot are about 0.4. The arena suggests reserving ahead through JustPark, its parking partner; rates change by event.

The free streetcar

The TECO Line Streetcar costs nothing and stops at the arena. Leaving the car at Fort Brooke, Channelside or the aquarium and hopping on is the simplest way around the postgame garage crawl. An accessible drop-off circle sits just off Channelside Drive, and the Channelside District has plenty of places to eat within walking distance.

At the doors

For 2025–26, the size cap is 12 x 12 x 12 inches. On hockey nights, any bag above 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches must be X-rayed, so a small clutch is the fastest way in.

  • Tickets are mobile, through Ticketmaster.
  • For Lightning games, doors open 60 minutes before puck drop (90 for premium seats); other events usually open 60 to 90 minutes ahead.
  • Once you leave, you cannot come back in.
  • Bottles, cans, weapons, recording devices and large signs are banned, and there is no smoking or vaping inside.
  • Strollers are allowed, and Ford Thunder Alley hosts a bike valet on Lightning nights.

Policies change, so check the arena's A–Z guide before you go.

Ice Palace to Benchmark, with Cup nights

Ellerbe Becket designed the building, which opened as the Ice Palace on October 20, 1996. Four renamings followed: to the St. Pete Times Forum (2002), the Tampa Bay Times Forum (2012), Amalie Arena (2014) and finally Benchmark International Arena (2025).

Ahead of the 2012 Republican National Convention, a renovation hung a large video board over center ice, added a digital theater organ and reworked the suites. Other tenants have included the Arena Football League's Tampa Bay Storm (1997 to 2017) and, for the 2020–21 season, the Toronto Raptors.

Four Stanley Cup Finals have included games here: 2004, 2015, 2021 and 2022. The Lightning won the Cup on home ice twice: Game 7 against Calgary in June 2004 and the clincher against Montreal in July 2021. More detail is on the arena's Wikipedia entry.

Frequently asked questions

Why did Amalie Arena change its name?

Benchmark International, an M&A firm based in Tampa, bought multiyear naming rights effective August 13, 2025. Nothing else changed: same building, same address, same Lightning.

What row should I sit in for a Lightning game?

Row 10 or higher on the 100 level near center ice is the most reliable view. The first two rows are worth it for the glass experience; rows in between can be blocked by the boards and glass.

Which end do the Lightning attack twice?

According to TickPick, Tampa Bay shoots twice at the net by sections 108 and 109, and opponents shoot twice toward 123 and 124. Ends are chosen before each game, so confirm on game night.

Is the TECO streetcar free to the arena?

Yes. It has a stop at the arena, and parking a few blocks away at Fort Brooke, Channelside or the aquarium lot, then riding over, is what the venue itself recommends.

What size bag can I take into Benchmark International Arena?

For 2025–26 the cap is 12 x 12 x 12 inches, and hockey-night bags above 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches get X-rayed. Confirm the latest rules with the venue before you go.

How many fans does the arena hold?

For hockey, 19,092. Wikipedia puts basketball near 20,500 and concerts as high as 21,500.
