It is home to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Lenovo Center, formerly PNC Arena
Lenovo Center is the arena on Edwards Mill Road in west Raleigh, home of the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL and NC State men's basketball, and the Triangle's largest indoor concert room. It seats 18,547 for hockey and 19,367 for basketball under the figures listed for 2026. The best view for most events is center ice or midcourt: lower sections 103–105 and 118–120, or the club seats on the 200 level at sections 202–206 and 218–222. The 300 level is the budget choice, and its center sections are far better than its corners.
If you knew it as PNC Arena, you have the right building. It opened in 1999 as the Raleigh Entertainment & Sports Arena, became the RBC Center in 2002 and PNC Arena in March 2012. PNC's naming rights expired on August 31, 2024, and the Centennial Authority, the public body that owns the arena, approved the Lenovo name on September 12, 2024. Lenovo is the computer and technology company.
Seating layout: 100 level, the 200 club ring and the 300 level
Section numbers here come from the RateYourSeats section listings and the Hurricanes' 2025 renovation announcement.
100 level
The lower bowl starts at 101 and runs into the 120s; the Hurricanes' renovation release names south-end sections up to 128. The Center Ice Club covers 103–105 on one side and 118–120 on the other. Center sections run about 30 rows: single letters first, then double letters (VV, WW, XX). Wheelchair seating sits behind row XX at the top of many lower sections. Facing the ice or stage, lower seat numbers are on your right.
200 level
Every 200-level section (201–230) is a club seat, and the ring is shallow: no more than six rows, and only four in the side sections. Named clubs include the Victory Club (210–214) and Club Ledge (226–228). Because the ring is so short, row D here is closer to the ice than row D of many arenas' mezzanines.
300 level
The upper bowl runs 301–338. Starting with the 2025–26 season, the View Bar replaced sections 317–319 with a standing bar area open to all fans that looks straight onto the ice, and a grab-and-go stand was added on the concourse.
New at ice level
The Lenovo Legend Club opened below the south stands in 2025. Access comes with the first two ice-level rows, rows C–E in south-end sections 101, 122 and 125–128, and the new bunker suites, which have no ice view of their own but come with seats in the lower rows around the corner.
Hurricanes hockey: where to sit and what to skip
According to RateYourSeats, the Hurricanes' bench sits at row C of section 105 and the visitors' at row C of section 103, so sections 118–120 across the ice look straight at both benches with the full rink in front of them. Those are the classic center-ice seats.
The shoot-twice end
The Canes attack twice toward the end near section 102 downstairs and sections 222–230 and 201 on the club level, which places it at the south end, the same end as the new Legend Club. Corner and end seats there are the value pick for fans who want the home team's scoring chances in front of them.
Rows to think about
Row A against the glass is close enough to hear the hits, but following a play at the far end is difficult. RateYourSeats suggests the top rows of a lower section, near the entry tunnels, for the most balanced view. On the 300 level, center sections near 304 and 324 are the strongest upper seats; the corners and the deep ends are the ones to skip.
When demand peaks
The regular season runs October to April with 41 home dates. Saturday games, rivals such as the Washington Capitals and the New York teams, and every playoff home game draw the biggest crowds. The arena's largest hockey crowd, 19,513, came for a Game 7 against Boston on May 14, 2022.
NC State basketball and concerts
Wolfpack basketball
For NC State, midcourt sections 103 and 116 downstairs and 203–205 and 220 on the club level give the best view. Rows A–D of section 102 are student seating; RateYourSeats notes that row F sits right behind the students, close to the noise without standing all game. Games against Duke and North Carolina are the hardest tickets of the season, and ACC weekend dates generally outsell weeknight nonconference games.
End-stage concerts
The floor straight back from the stage is the closest view; floor sections are numbered. The lower side sections nearest the stage (around 102–104 and 115–118) are the best raised seats, and on the club ring sections 205 and 219 sit closest to the stage. A center seat on the far end of the 100 or 200 level is the best place to see the full lighting and video design. Avoid seats beside or behind the stage unless they are sold for a center-stage show. The arena's concert record is 20,052, set by Metallica in January 2019.
Parking, tailgating and rideshare
Lenovo Center sits beside NC State's Carter-Finley Stadium on a large parking campus, about 8,000 spaces by Wikipedia's count, and tailgating before hockey and basketball is common. As of 2026, the arena's parking guide permits tailgating with limits: no charcoal or wood-burning grills, one space per vehicle, and cars out within an hour after the event. Advance parking passes are sold through ParkWhiz; rates vary by event. General parking enters from Edwards Mill Road or Blue Ridge Road.
Rideshare and taxis
All rideshare drop-off and pickup happens at Gate C on Trinity Road, next to TowneBank Center at Carter-Finley Stadium, a short walk and a staircase from the arena. Taxis wait in the same area.
Transit
Several bus routes, including GoRaleigh and GoTriangle lines, serve the arena area, but most fans drive. Raleigh-Durham International Airport is about 10 to 15 minutes away on I-40.
Bag policy and entry rules
For Hurricanes and NC State games, as of 2026, the arena allows only a small clutch or wristlet smaller than 4.5 by 6.5 inches, which skips the x-ray line. Parenting bags are allowed when a child is with you, and medical bags are allowed; both are x-rayed and tagged. For concerts and other events, the tour or promoter sets the bag rule, so check the event page.
Policies change at management's discretion, so confirm the current rules on the arena's bag policy page before you go.
From the ESA to two Stanley Cups
Ground was broken on July 22, 1997, and the building, designed by Odell Associates, opened on October 29, 1999, at a cost of about 158 million dollars, with the Hurricanes, the state and local hotel and restaurant taxes sharing the bill. NC State moved its men's basketball program in the same year.
The arena's defining night came on June 19, 2006, when the Hurricanes beat Edmonton 3–1 in Game 7 to win the Stanley Cup on home ice. It hosted the 2011 NHL All-Star Game and NCAA tournament first- and second-round games several times, most recently in 2025. A 360-degree center-hung video board arrived in 2019, and a 2023 agreement set a 20-year lease with public renovation funding. The Hurricanes won a second Cup in June 2026, clinching Game 6 in Las Vegas. More history is on the arena's Wikipedia entry.
