NC State Wolfpack Football Tickets

56,919 seats · west side keeps the afternoon sun behind you

Carter-Finley packs its stands tight to the sidelines, so even middle rows feel close. Pick the west side for shade and the right row for sightlines.

Upcoming NC State Wolfpack Football dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Wolfpack seats: climb past the front rows, and go west

The best NC State Wolfpack football seat is on the west sideline between the 30-yard lines, well clear of the front rows and toward the middle of the lower bowl. No ACC stadium squeezes its seats closer to the field than Carter-Finley does, so front rows put players and staff right in your sightline. A few rows of height fixes that, and the west side keeps an afternoon sun behind you.

The stadium seats 56,919 on Raleigh's west side, a short drive from the heart of campus. Expect seven home dates in a typical year, running from the end of summer into November.

  • Best view: west sideline, between the 30s, mid-bowl rows.
  • Best premium: Vaughn Towers suites and club seats, or Tuffy's Terrace.
  • Best value: upper rows of either end zone.
  • Hardest ticket: North Carolina, in a home year.

A closed bowl with tight sidelines: Carter-Finley explained

Carter-Finley opened on October 8, 1966, and has since been closed in on all sides. The south end got seats and the Murphy Center behind them in 2001. The Vaughn Towers press box and premium block arrived in 2005, and a north end zone grandstand followed in 2006. The result is a compact bowl that holds noise well.

Sidelines

Midfield seats sell out first, and donors and season holders own most of them. The lowest rows put you nearly on the bench, which is fun until a wall of players and staff blocks the play. With the end zones at the north and south, a late-afternoon sun drops behind the west stands and into the eyes of everyone on the east. NC State publishes no shade chart, so treat this as geometry, not a promise, and confirm which side your seats are on.

End zones

Both ends are the value seats. Climb higher to judge plays at the opposite goal line. The 2023 north video board, over double the size of its predecessor, keeps replays readable from any seat.

Premium

Vaughn Towers holds suites and club seats with a high, central vantage point. Tuffy's Terrace is the other premium option.

Students get in through their own university process, and the visiting team receives an allotment. Wherever you land, plan on red-clad neighbors and plenty of noise.

UNC week, Wake Forest and the Wolfpack's other big dates

  • North Carolina: Nothing in Raleigh compares. The schools first met in 1894 and have played every season of the ACC era, starting in 1953. The Tar Heels own the overall edge, yet the conference-era results are nearly split, and the Wolfpack carried a five-game winning streak in the series as of November 2025. When UNC visits, expect the year's scarcest seats.
  • Wake Forest: An unbroken annual series since 1910; no ACC rivalry has run longer without a gap.
  • Duke: Part of the Tobacco Road set of in-state ACC rivalries; the annual series resumed in 2023.
  • Clemson: The Textile Bowl, a nod to both universities' textile schools, is no longer annual under the ACC's current format, which makes each meeting more of an event.
  • East Carolina: Booked now and then outside the conference, this in-state series dates to 1970.

Beyond UNC, prices climb for ranked conference opponents and for November games that decide bowl eligibility or a title. Early nonconference dates are the easiest way into the stadium.

Trinity Road gameday: lots, traffic and the bag rule

The stadium's address is 4600 Trinity Road, near Hillsborough Street, and acres of open parking surround it; and that setting makes tailgating the center of a Wolfpack Saturday. Fans arrive hours early. Because lot hours, RV rules and permit requirements are revised each year, review NC State's Carter-Finley fan guide for the current details.

Almost everyone drives, so traffic around the stadium is heavy before kickoff and again after the final whistle. Plan both directions ahead of time, and budget extra time to leave after a night game.

Under the policy posted as of the 2025 season, each fan may carry a single transparent bag (plastic, vinyl or PVC) within 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a gallon-size clear freezer bag, along with a clutch no larger than 6.5 by 4.5 inches. Leave backpacks, oversized purses, camera bags and coolers in the car; medical items are admitted once inspected. Double-check the current bag policy before you go. The bowl offers little cover, so bring sun protection and water for September games.

Getting Wolfpack seats: Wolfpack Club priority and resale

A season plan includes all home games. Renewing holders keep priority, and seat location depends on contributions to the Wolfpack Club, NC State's booster organization. The school has said season tickets sold out for several years running. Three-game mini-plans and single-game tickets follow once season holders are seated, and students use a separate system. Tickets are mobile.

When the Tar Heels or another headline opponent visits, prime seats rarely make it to a public sale, and resale becomes the usual route. Prices track the opponent, the Wolfpack's record, the kickoff time and the weather, and they tend to climb late in rivalry week. Every Reserved Seat order is backed by a 100% guarantee.

Edwards, Holtz and Rivers: NC State football background

NC State has played since 1892 and helped found the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in 1953. Earle Edwards collected five conference crowns from 1957 through 1968, Lou Holtz added one in 1973 and Bo Rein another in 1979, for seven in all. Chuck Amato's 2002 team won a school-record 11 games and beat Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl.

The alumni list includes quarterbacks Roman Gabriel, Philip Rivers and Russell Wilson, receiver Torry Holt and pass rushers Mario Williams and Bradley Chubb. Look for No. 18 (Gabriel), No. 81 (Holt) and No. 17 (Rivers) among the retired numbers on display. Red and white have been the colors since 1895. The band, known as the Power Sound of the South, handles pregame and halftime; costumed mascots Mr. and Ms. Wuf roam the stands; and Tuffy, a live Tamaskan dog, has been on the sideline since 2010. The stadium's record crowd is 57,583.

Frequently asked questions

Which row should I buy at Carter-Finley Stadium?

Go for the middle of the lower bowl on a sideline. Seats here sit closer to the field than anywhere else in the ACC, so the first few rows end up staring at the bench.

Is the west or east side better at Carter-Finley for a day game?

West. With the end zones at the north and south, the late-day sun settles behind the west stands and glares at the east side.

How far is Carter-Finley Stadium from the NC State campus?

It is on the west side of Raleigh at 4600 Trinity Road, near Hillsborough Street, a short drive from the core of campus. Nearly everyone drives and tailgates nearby.

What is the capacity of Carter-Finley Stadium?

56,919, a figure used since the 2021 season. The record crowd is 57,583.

How often does NC State play Wake Forest?

Annually since 1910. That makes it the ACC's longest-running uninterrupted rivalry.

Can I bring a backpack to an NC State game?

No. Under the policy posted as of the 2025 season, backpacks are out; you may bring one clear bag within 12 by 6 by 12 inches and a small clutch. Confirm the current rules first.
