Upcoming Buena Vista Social Club dates
Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
Best seat for Buena Vista Social Club: see the musicians
Buy the center orchestra, middle rows. In this show the musicians are on stage and part of the action, and the Tony-winning partner dancing is best up close and at eye level with the stage. Your second choice is the opening rows of the mezzanine, center, which take in every musician plus the dancers' floor patterns together and, in a house this size, compete well with the back of the orchestra.
One clarification before you buy: this is a Broadway musical with actors and a script, not a gig by the veteran Cuban group that tours under that name.
The Schoenfeld's two levels, row by row
Built in 1917 as the Plymouth, the house took the Gerald Schoenfeld name in 2005. Of its 1,079 seats, the Shubert Organization puts 653 on the orchestra floor, 392 upstairs in the mezzanine and 24 in boxes.
- Orchestra center, middle rows: the strongest seats for faces, footwork and the band.
- Mezzanine front, center: the full picture at once; many regulars prefer it to the rear orchestra here.
- Mezzanine rear: the stage shrinks, and the detail that makes this show work gets hard to see.
- Boxes and far side orchestra: the angle can hide the players nearest you.
Accessibility note: as of 2026, every one of the seven wheelchair spaces sits on the orchestra floor, and getting upstairs means 31 steps with no lift, per the Shubert Organization's theater page.
Havana, the 1950s to the 1990s
This is the backstory of the celebrated record. The action shifts between Havana in the 1950s and in the 1990s, tracing a circle of musicians, with the singer Omara Portuondo at the center, whose careers were reshaped by revolution and decades of hardship long before a late-career record made them international names.
Every number is in Spanish, drawing on Cuban forms including son (the guitar-and-percussion style that salsa grew from), danzón and bolero. The book is by Marco Ramirez, the direction by Saheem Ali, and the dances by Patricia Delgado with Justin Peck.
Do you need Spanish, and is it right for kids
Curtain to curtain is 2 hours 10 minutes with a single intermission. The recommended minimum age is 8, and kids younger than 4 cannot attend.
- Language: the singing is in Spanish, while the plot travels through spoken scenes, so non-Spanish speakers keep up easily.
- Themes: the Cuban Revolution, poverty and what political upheaval cost these artists, treated seriously and without graphic content.
- Music fans: listeners who know the album will recognize much of the score.
Atlantic Theater Company, then four Tonys
Its first home was Off-Broadway: Atlantic Theater Company, from November 17, 2023, through two extensions to a January 28, 2024, closing. Broadway previews began February 21, 2025, with an opening on March 19.
Its 2025 Tony haul began with 10 nominations, Best Musical among them, and ended with wins for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Natalie Venetia Belcon as Omara, plus the choreography, orchestrations and sound design categories. The band itself got a Special Tony Award, and the original cast recording took the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. The original company also included Julio Monge (Compay), Mel Semé (Ibrahim), Jainardo Batista Sterling (Rubén) and Justin Cunningham (Juan de Marcos); casting changes over a run, so confirm before you go.
Booking period, tour stops and London
- Broadway: as of October 2026, the on-sale period runs to January 17, 2027, thanks to a block of seats added in May 2026. A few trackers call that a closing date; read it as the present sales window and watch for another extension.
- National tour: launched at Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo in September 2026; Washington, D.C., Chicago and Los Angeles are among the cities on the route.
- West End: London is next, with a 2027 staging made public in June 2026.
Tour routes shift, so confirm dates with the local presenter before you book travel.
Demand on Broadway and on the road
A Tony-winning show with a Grammy-winning album sells steadily. Saturday nights and holiday stretches (Thanksgiving to New Year's, spring break, summer) go first, and the end of a booking window can bunch demand into its last weeks as people who put it off try to get in.
- Most choice: Tuesday to Thursday evenings outside holidays.
- First to sell: center orchestra and front mezzanine.
- Tour stops: short engagements (Buffalo ran about a week) make local weekends tighter than on Broadway.
