Upcoming & Juliet dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

The & Juliet seat call, with a deadline

If you want to see & Juliet on Broadway, you have until January 3, 2027, the final performance the producers announced in September 2026. For the seat itself, aim for the center orchestra in the middle rows. That spot keeps you close to the comedy, level with the dancing and far enough back to take in the full stage when the whole company is singing. Your fallback, and often the smarter buy, is the front of the mezzanine, center.

At the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, those two choices are closer together than the level names suggest, for reasons that come down to the building's odd shape.

Inside the Sondheim: you walk in at the mezzanine

The Sondheim, at 124 West 43rd Street, was rebuilt inside the shell of the old Henry Miller's Theatre and reopened in 2009. It holds 1,055 seats. Street level puts you on the mezzanine, and the orchestra sits one floor down. About two-thirds of the seats are on that lower orchestra level, so the mezzanine is small and comparatively close.

Orchestra, center and middle rows

The best overall seats. You read the actors' faces during the jokes and see the choreography at stage height.

Orchestra, first few rows

Fun for the concert energy, but you look up at the stage and lose the patterns dancers make across the floor.

Orchestra, under the overhang

The last orchestra rows sit beneath the mezzanine. Sound holds up; the top of the set and the lighting can be clipped.

Mezzanine, front and center

The value seat for a dance musical. Jennifer Weber's choreography reads as shapes from above, and the lighting design lands as one picture. Even the back mezzanine rows are near the stage by Broadway standards.

Far sides on either level

Angled views of the scenery, and you can lose action on the near edge of the stage.

Juliet lives: the premise and the playlist

& Juliet starts from a marital argument. Anne Hathaway tells her husband, William Shakespeare, that the ending of Romeo and Juliet is wrong, takes the quill and rewrites it. Her Juliet survives, ditches Verona for Paris with her friends, and Anne writes herself in as a new character, April.

The songs come from Max Martin, the Swedish songwriter-producer behind a long run of pop hits, and his collaborators, reworked to move the plot: "Since U Been Gone," "Roar," "I Want It That Way" and "Confident" among them. David West Read, an Emmy winner from television, wrote the book; Luke Sheppard directed and Jennifer Weber choreographed.

Length, age fit and weekly schedule

Plan on about 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one intermission. The production recommends the show for ages 8 and up, and Broadway theaters do not admit children under 4.

  • Feel: a rom-com staged like a pop concert, with lyrics often used as punch lines.
  • Content: flirting and comic innuendo, nothing graphic; the 8+ guidance is the right yardstick.
  • Prior knowledge: knowing the songs adds laughs, but the story is easy to follow cold.
  • Schedule: Tuesday through Sunday, dark on Mondays, with changes during holiday weeks.

Manchester, the West End, Toronto, then 43rd Street

The show tried out at the Manchester Opera House from September 10 to October 12, 2019, then opened at London's Shaftesbury Theatre on November 20, 2019. That London run won three Olivier Awards in 2020, including Best Actress in a Musical for Miriam-Teak Lee, and closed March 25, 2023. A pre-Broadway stop at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre ran from June 22 to August 14, 2022.

Broadway previews began October 28, 2022, and the show opened November 17. It collected nine Tony nominations in 2023, Best Musical among them, without a win. By the closing date it will have given 1,723 regular performances and 20 previews, placing it among the 50 longest-running musicals on Broadway. The production reports more than 1.5 million New York ticket buyers and 43 Broadway debuts in its cast.

Life after New York continues. The North American tour that opened in Baltimore in September 2024 was booked through November 2026, and productions have played or been announced in Australia, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

Countdown demand: which dates disappear first

Closing notices concentrate demand. When The Phantom of the Opera announced its end in 2022, sales jumped enough that the final date was pushed back two months. & Juliet's final stretch also overlaps the busiest part of the theater year.

  • Hardest: the last week, and above all the January 3 finale, when longtime fans and alumni turn out.
  • Next hardest: Thanksgiving through New Year's, especially weekends and matinees.
  • Easiest: Tuesday to Thursday evenings in October and early November.
  • Watch casting: Joey Fatone has been advertised at select performances, and featured-performer dates can sell faster.

Unsold weeknights often soften near the date, while weekend and final-week resale prices tend to rise as the end approaches. The production sells rush and standing room directly through its official site. Every Reserved Seat order is backed by a 100% guarantee. January 3, 2027, at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, according to the closing announcement made in September 2026.
