Billy Idol Tickets

Shed or arena · front reserved or lower-bowl side is the safe pick

A Billy Idol night is loud, guitar-driven and built on 1980s hits. Shed or arena, the seat you pick decides how much of Steve Stevens you see.

Upcoming Billy Idol dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Billy Idol seats: the quick answer by building

For a Billy Idol show, the safest seat is a front reserved section in an amphitheater (an outdoor venue with covered seats and a lawn behind them) or a lower-bowl side section near the stage in an arena. Both put you close enough to see Idol and guitarist Steve Stevens play off each other, and both sit above the standing crowd. His recent tours have moved between those two kinds of building, sometimes in the same week, so confirm which one your date is in before you choose.

The value seats are the amphitheater lawn and the arena upper level. They work if you came for the songs and the singalong more than the close-up view.

Amphitheater nights: pit, covered seats or the lawn

  • Pit or front reserved: the closest view. At some sheds the first area is a standing pit (an open area with no seats) rather than chairs; the listing tells you which you are buying.
  • Rear reserved, under the roof: centered, covered from rain and usually well placed for sound. For many fans this is the best balance of view and comfort.
  • Lawn: general admission on a grass slope behind the seats. It is the least expensive way in, but the video screens become your main view. Get there when gates open to claim ground close to the middle, and bring a blanket where the venue allows one.

Arena nights: floor, sides and the soundboard

  • Floor: as close as it gets, but flat. From the back half, the screens do most of the work.
  • 100-level sections just off the stage: the top reserved choice. You are raised, close and angled well to watch Stevens play lead.
  • Lower level straight across from the stage: a bit farther away but square to the performers, often near the soundboard (the mixing desk), where the sound is balanced best.
  • Skip: seats tucked next to or behind the stage unless the listing sells them as side view. Speaker stacks hide much of the stage from there.

From Generation X to the Rock Hall

Idol, whose given name is William Michael Albert Broad, was born in Stanmore, Middlesex, on November 30, 1955. He started out in London's late-1970s punk scene, passed briefly through Chelsea in 1976, and co-founded Generation X with bassist Tony James; the group cut three albums for Chrysalis. A move to New York in 1981 and a partnership with Stevens launched the solo years that made him a fixture of early MTV.

The set list still leans on that era:

  • The 1982 debut: the record that broke "White Wedding" on MTV.
  • Rebel Yell (1983): home of "Eyes Without a Face," which climbed to No. 4 in the US.
  • The late 1980s and 1990: "To Be a Lover" from Whiplash Smile peaked at No. 6, and "Cradle of Love" from Charmed Life got to No. 2.
  • The newer albums: a 2014 comeback record and Dream Into It (2025), which featured Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett and Alison Mosshart as guests and peaked at No. 2 in Germany.

Recognition came late and in a cluster: a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in January 2023, a 2025 documentary titled Billy Idol Should Be Dead that debuted at Tribeca that June, and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2026 shared with Stevens.

Tours on record since 2022

  • Roadside Tour, 2022: pushed back by delays, it played British dates in October 2022 supported by Killing Joke and Toyah.
  • North America, spring 2023: Scottsdale on March 30 to the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena on May 20.
  • It's a Nice Day to Tour Again, 2025: starting that April, Idol co-headlined North America with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and New Model Army opened in Europe. His tour page showed the September 2025 American swing alternating between sheds like Berkeley's Greek Theatre and arenas like Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena, the Kia Forum and the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Shows in Latin America ran in October and November 2025.

When new shows are on sale, they appear in the ticket listings below this guide.

When Billy Idol tickets move, and when they wait

  • Close seats go early. Longtime fans buy the front sections first. The lawn and the upper deck tend to stay available into show week and can ease on resale.
  • Double bills pull more people. Pairing with Jett's band in 2025 meant two headline-level names per night, which raised demand across the whole venue.
  • Packages remove premium seats. His tour page has sold VIP bundles with meet-and-greets and merchandise at checkout, which take some front inventory out of the general sale.
  • News cycles help. A new album, a documentary and a Hall of Fame induction in quick succession brought back fans who had not seen him in years.
