Lower bowl facing the stage: screens, band and sound in one view

At a Chris Tomlin concert the audience sings along all night, so the right seat is one where you can read the screens and hear the band.

Upcoming Chris Tomlin dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Pick a seat you can sing from

The best seat for a Chris Tomlin concert is in the lower bowl facing the stage. From there you can read the lyric screens without turning your head, see Tomlin and the band, and stay inside the zone the main speakers are aimed at. That matters because this is a worship concert: the audience sings nearly every song, and the night often includes prayer and short reflections between songs, much like a church service led from an arena stage.

Wherever you sit, plan on standing and singing for much of the evening. Layouts vary by venue, so check the seating map on your event.

Arena sections for a sing-along crowd

  • Lower bowl, straight on: the all-around winner for screens, sound and sightline.
  • Floor: where the singing is loudest. Some venues set reserved chairs, others sell standing GA; the listing will say which. Because most people stand, shorter fans in the back floor rows see little.
  • Lower-bowl sides near the stage: near and above the floor, though the sightline to the main screens suffers, which costs more at a worship night than at a typical concert.
  • Upper level, center: good value, since a worship night carries on sound and voices. Center sections beat corners near the stage.

Buying for a church group or family

Church groups, youth groups and families make up a big share of the audience. If your group wants to sit together, buy a block early; contiguous seats thin out faster than overall sales suggest. With young children, lower-bowl aisle seats usually beat the floor: exits are easier, and you can see over a standing crowd.

On co-headline bills, each artist plays a shorter set, but the overall night runs longer, so plan rides and bedtimes with that in mind.

Hymn-like anthems and a church-built audience

Plenty of people in the arena already sing these songs at church each week. The best known include "How Great Is Our God," a modern worship staple; "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)," which adds a new refrain to the classic hymn; "Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)"; and the more recent "Holy Forever." When those start, the room becomes one large choir, which is why sound and screen visibility rank above closeness.

The scale of that reach is documented. Time wrote in 2006 that Tomlin was probably sung more often than any other artist, and by 2013 he was being called the world's most sung songwriter. CCLI, short for Christian Copyright Licensing International (the body that licenses and logs songs churches perform), reported in 2012 that congregations had performed his songs over three million times.

A Texas worship leader with a No. 1 album

Tomlin was born in Grand Saline, Texas, on May 4, 1972. He was on the Sixstepsrecords label from 2000 to 2015 and later recorded for Capitol Christian Music Group. Thirteen studio albums span 2001 to 2025, starting with The Noise We Make and most recently The King Is Still The King.

  • Grammy: And If Our God Is for Us (2010) took Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the 2012 ceremony.
  • Chart high: Burning Lights (2013) reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200; only three contemporary Christian albums had done that before it.
  • Dove Awards: 23 wins out of 50-plus nominations.
  • Streaming: in 2018, Pandora gave him its Billionaire award, a first for a Christian artist.

Passion, shared bills and holiday shows

  • Passion: in 1997 Tomlin and Louie Giglio started the Passion Conferences, a Christian worship movement, and he has appeared across its tours and gatherings in the US and abroad.
  • Tour partners: MercyMe, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman and Delirious? have all shared the road with him, alongside tours he headlined himself.
  • Christmas: a seasonal program, Christmas with Chris Tomlin: Good News of Great Joy, is featured on his website.
  • November 2026: when checked in October 2026, his site showed a co-headline arena run with Third Day and TobyMac, with stops at venues such as Hershey's GIANT Center, Cleveland's Wolstein Center and Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri.

Upcoming dates appear in the listings on this page, and announcements post on Chris Tomlin's official site.

Seats that work against a worship concert

A few seats that are fine at a rock show are poor here. Sections at a sharp angle to the stage often lose the lyric screens, and if you cannot read the words you miss much of the point. Rear floor rows put you behind a standing crowd for most of the night. High corner seats near the stage combine both problems. If a listing says limited view, assume the screens are what you will lose.

Group blocks, December weekends and presales

  • Groups buy early. Church and youth blocks often go soon after the on-sale.
  • December weekends sell first. Holiday shows pull families, and weekend dates go fastest.
  • Shared bills widen the audience. When two or three big Christian acts share a night, their audiences stack.
  • The front sections go in presales. Fan, venue and promoter windows generally come ahead of the public sale.

On resale, a seat may cost more or less than its face value, and prices usually shift close to the show. Reserved Seat stands behind each order with a 100% guarantee.
