Goo Goo Dolls Tickets

Mid-pavilion center is the sweet spot · lawn is the value play

Most Goo Goo Dolls nights happen outdoors in summer, so your seat choice is really a choice between being up front, under the roof or on the grass.

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Pit, pavilion or lawn: the Goo Goo Dolls choice

Buy a center seat in the middle of the covered pavilion if you want the best all-around night. Goo Goo Dolls tours are mostly summer amphitheater runs, and an amphitheater gives you three distinct experiences: a pit or front orchestra close to the stage, reserved seats under a roof, and an open lawn at the back.

  • Pit or front orchestra: the closest spot, sometimes sold as standing room. Pick it if you want to be in the loudest part of the "Iris" singalong.
  • Mid-pavilion, center: the sweet spot. Balanced sound, a straight view of both singers and a roof if it rains.
  • Lawn: the low-cost, laid-back choice, with the trade-offs of distance and weather.

Layouts vary by venue, so check the seating map on the listing before you buy.

Amphitheater sections, front to back

Pit and front orchestra

Closest to John Rzeznik and Robby Takac, and the best place to feel part of the crowd. If it is standing room, arrive early for a spot near the stage.

Center reserved, middle rows

The most dependable seats in the building. The band's production is built around the musicians rather than a video wall, so a clean view of the stage is worth more here than at a screen-heavy pop show.

Side reserved

Acceptable for a straightforward rock show, but the outer edges can lose a slice of the stage behind speaker stacks. Lean toward the inner side sections.

Back rows under the roof

Dry, but the roof overhang can box in the view and cut off the lighting rig. Middle rows usually sound better too.

Lawn

Bring a blanket or low chair where the venue allows one, and plan on watching the video screens. There is no shelter from a hot afternoon sun or a passing storm.

For the band's arena or casino dates, a lower-level seat facing the stage is the low-risk choice.

Two singers and a set built on radio hits

Rzeznik and Takac both take lead vocals, which gives a Goo Goo Dolls show two moods. Rzeznik fronts the polished pop-rock songs that ruled radio in the late 1990s; Takac's songs lean back toward the punk-influenced noise the band started with. "Name" and "Iris" are the moments everyone waits for.

The audience covers several generations, from people who bought Dizzy Up the Girl in 1998 to younger fans who found the songs through streaming. Setlists change from night to night, so if one particular song matters to you, look at recent shows on setlist.fm before you buy.

Buffalo noise to Iris

The band formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1985 and spent its early years as a loud, punk-flavored club act. "Name," from A Boy Named Goo, broke it to a wide audience in 1995.

"Iris" changed everything. Written for the 1998 film City of Angels, it held No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay chart for 18 weeks and later topped Billboard's ranking of the biggest pop songs from 1992 to 2012. Dizzy Up the Girl, the album that carried it, went five times platinum. The catalog now runs to 13 studio albums through Chaos in Bloom (2022), and the band has collected four Grammy nominations.

Hometown days, Red Rocks and the 40th-anniversary run

  • July 4, 2004: a free concert in Buffalo, which the city marked as Goo Goo Dolls Day.
  • June 27, 2007: a headline night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.
  • Summer 2017: the Long Way Home tour, shared with Phillip Phillips.
  • 2026: a tour with Neon Trees, announced in December 2025, to mark 40 years since the band's start. The summer leg stuck mostly to amphitheaters and outdoor pavilions, with some fairground and casino stops, and the band played the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas that September.

Dates on sale now appear in the event list on this page.

When to buy and when to wait

Because the band tours most summers, demand is steady rather than frantic. A few patterns hold:

  • Front seats go early. The pit and center pavilion sell first and tend to keep their resale value.
  • Lawn tickets are plentiful. They are usually the last to sell and often soften in the final days, especially on weeknights or under a rainy forecast.
  • Some dates draw extra interest. Weekends, Buffalo shows and anniversary tours pull the biggest crowds.
  • Presales lead the on-sale. They typically open a few days before tickets go to the public.
