Upcoming The Smashing Pumpkins dates
Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
Smashing Pumpkins seats: sound and height first
When the Pumpkins play an arena, the reserved seat to buy is in the lower level along the side, near the stage. You sit above the floor crowd, close enough to follow Billy Corgan and James Iha as they move, with a clear look at Jimmy Chamberlin behind the kit. Corgan started this alternative rock band in Chicago back in 1988, and its concerts are long, loud and heavy on guitars, so a clean sightline and balanced sound matter more than raw proximity.
Prefer to stand up close? The general-admission floor is built for that. If you want the best mix, sit facing the stage near the soundboard.
Floor, side, end and upper level at a Pumpkins arena show
These notes assume an end stage (stage at one end, seats behind it either blocked off or sold as limited view). Open the map for your event to see the exact setup and whether the floor is GA, meaning standing with no assigned spots, or reserved chairs.
- GA floor: the closest spot and the right call if you want to watch the guitarists from a few yards away. Since the floor is level, a shorter fan toward the back ends up watching the video walls.
- Lower level, sides near the stage: the top reserved pick, offering height and a close angle.
- Lower level, end facing the stage: farther out, yet dead-on to the stage and frequently right behind the soundboard, the desk where engineers shape the mix.
- Upper level: the budget choice. Stick to low rows at center; the top corners lose on sightline and on sound.
Pumpkins seats that block more than they show
- Sections right beside the stage: lighting and sound rigs can hide much of the stage from a steep angle.
- Rear corners of the 100 level: long distance plus a sharp angle, and the sound is muddier there.
- Seats near the speaker stacks: with three guitars at times, the sides of the room get the harshest volume. Center seats hear a fuller mix.
Buy any of these only if the listing describes the view.
Two sets, three guitars and a late finish
Expect the set to swing between 1990s hits from Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and heavier material from Atum, the band's rock opera. The sound is thick: guitars stacked on guitars, Chamberlin's heavy drumming underneath and Corgan's distinctive voice over the top.
On stage, Corgan, Iha and Chamberlin work with Jack Bates, the touring bassist since 2015, and Kiki Wong, a guitarist chosen in April 2024 from over 10,000 people who answered an open call. The 2026 anniversary shows are billed as two sets, built around Mellon Collie plus other material, so they run longer than a normal arena headline set. Plan the trip home with a late finish in mind.
Pumpkins on the road, 2015 through Rats in a Cage
- Summer 2015, End Times Tour: a co-headline run with Marilyn Manson.
- 2018 onward, the Shiny and Oh So Bright reunion run: starting in July, with Iha and Chamberlin back in the fold, it moved over 350,000 tickets and sold out Madison Square Garden, Chicago's United Center and The Forum in Los Angeles.
- 2023, The World Is a Vampire: a touring festival concept, followed that summer by North American dates shared with Interpol and Stone Temple Pilots.
- 2024, The Saviors Tour: a North American stadium tour headlined by Green Day, with Rancid and The Linda Lindas also on the bill. In June 2024 the band co-headlined a UK and Ireland run with Weezer.
- Fall 2026, Rats in a Cage Tour: a September-to-November arena run across North America, revealed in May 2026, marking 30 years of Mellon Collie.

Anniversary demand and how Pumpkins tickets move
Interest in this band tracks the catalog, and anniversaries pull the 1990s audience hardest. The 2026 Mellon Collie tour fits that pattern.
- Presales lead. Lately the band has sold through promoters such as Live Nation: presales run ahead of the public sale, and VIP upgrades are offered as add-ons to a regular ticket.
- Chicago and the coasts sell first. Chicago, New York and Los Angeles tend to move fastest, and Friday or Saturday shows outpace weeknights.
- The GA floor disappears early. Once it sells out, demand moves to resale.
- Read the billing. The 2024 Saviors stadium shows put the Pumpkins ahead of Green Day, so a pricey seat near the stage on a shared bill may mostly be paying for the headliner.
Resale listings can price over or under face value and often change late. Reserved Seat covers every order with a 100% guarantee. Announcements come from the band's official site.
Metro farewell to the 2018 reunion
Corgan started the band in 1988 with Iha on guitar, D'arcy Wretzky on bass and Chamberlin on drums. Sales peaked with Siamese Dream in 1993 and then Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, a 1995 double album that reached diamond status in the US, meaning 10 million units. Back-to-back Best Hard Rock Performance Grammys went to "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and then "The End Is the Beginning Is the End," and MTV named "Tonight, Tonight" its 1996 Video of the Year. Worldwide album sales topped 30 million as of 2012.
The original run closed at Chicago's Metro, a farewell gig on December 2, 2000. A 2005 announcement from Corgan led to a 2007 comeback that began in Paris that May, minus Iha and Wretzky. Iha and Chamberlin rejoined Corgan in February 2018, and the band has since released Cyr (2020), the three-part Atum (released across 2022 and 2023) and Aghori Mhori Mei in 2024.
Frequently asked questions
Is the floor general admission at Smashing Pumpkins shows?
It depends on the date. Check the map on your listing for standing GA versus assigned chairs; when the floor is GA, it tends to sell out before anything else.
How long is a Smashing Pumpkins concert on the 2026 tour?
The Rats in a Cage shows are billed as two sets built around Mellon Collie and other material, so the night lasts longer than a standard arena headline slot. Expect a late finish.
Is D'arcy Wretzky still in the Smashing Pumpkins?
No. Today's lineup centers on three founders, Corgan, Iha and Chamberlin, plus touring bassist Jack Bates and touring guitarist Kiki Wong.
Did the Smashing Pumpkins headline the Saviors Tour?
No. Green Day headlined the 2024 Saviors stadium tour, and the Smashing Pumpkins played before them, with Rancid and The Linda Lindas also on the bill.
When did the Smashing Pumpkins reunite?
A version of the band came back in 2007 after Corgan's 2005 announcement, but Iha and Chamberlin did not both return until February 2018.
