Staged arena show · face the stage from the lower bowl to see the set

The 1975 turned arena shows into staged theater inside a full house set, so the seat that faces the stage head-on sees the show the way it was built.

The 1975 seats: the one-line answer

For The 1975, buy a lower-bowl seat that faces the stage straight on. Since 2022 the band has performed inside a built set of a suburban house, with rooms, a staircase and a rooftop, and that design reads properly only from the front. The floor gets you closest, but the staging is the reason this tour is different.

  • See the show as designed: lower bowl, facing the stage.
  • Get close and catch the B-stage: the front of the floor.
  • Raised and near, with trade-offs: lower-bowl sides, a little back from the stage.
  • Value: upper-level center sections.

Recent arena tours put the stage at one end of the room, known as an end stage. Check the map for your event.

Floor, sides and upstairs for a set this deep

Floor

The loudest part of the room, and your best chance to be near the B-stage, a smaller second platform out in the crowd. When the floor is general admission (standing, with spots claimed by arrival time), the rail goes to early arrivals, and toward the rear the house set disappears behind heads and phones.

Lower bowl, sides

Close and raised, but the set is deep. From a sharp side angle, walls and furniture can block parts of the interior and the rooftop scenes. Pick side sections set well back from the stage line instead.

Upper level

Seats in the middle, straight across from the stage, keep the whole set and the big screen in frame. Skip the corner sections that hug the stage.

What the house set looks like

Beginning in November 2022, the band swapped the usual rock rig for a full domestic interior by designer Tobias Rylander, who named Stanley Kubrick among his references. The stage held old furniture, bedside lamps, vintage TV sets with LED panels inside, a spiral stair and a door frame standing on its own, and Healy sang several songs on a rooftop section beneath a streetlamp.

Each show was split in two. Part one turned the 2022 album into staged performance art, scene by scene; part two, under the tour's title, dropped the theater for a straight run through the catalog. Rolling Stone described the show as a defining blueprint for arena concerts. For the next run, Still... At Their Very Best, the house stayed, a big video wall went up behind it, and a small second stage shaped like a square of lawn appeared out in the room.

The band and its chart record

The group came together in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in 2002, with singer and rhythm guitarist Matty Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald and drummer George Daniel. Its label is Dirty Hit.

Five studio albums, five British chart-toppers: the self-titled 2013 debut, the 2016 follow-up (whose long title begins I Like It When You Sleep), A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships in 2018, Notes on a Conditional Form in 2020 and Being Funny in a Foreign Language in 2022. The 2016 record also hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Brit Awards voters have honored the band four times, including the 2019 album prize for A Brief Inquiry, and it has two Mercury Prize nominations.

Recent tours and the Glastonbury headline

  • 2018–2020, Music for Cars Tour: the run that promoted the third and fourth albums.
  • Late 2022 through summer 2023, At Their Very Best: 93 concerts in seven legs across five continents, opening November 3 and closing August 16. The Madison Square Garden show on November 7, 2022, sold out, went out as a livestream and later landed on Amazon Prime Video; London's O2 followed on January 12, 2023. The final weeks were disrupted when Malaysian officials stopped the band's Good Vibes Festival set in July 2023, after which shows in Jakarta and Taipei were dropped.
  • Fall 2023 to spring 2024, Still... At Their Very Best: 60 shows between mid-September and late March, the largest arena tour the band had played in North America. It returned to the Garden, played the Hollywood Bowl, staged four O2 nights billed as carbon-removed, and wrapped in Amsterdam.
  • June 27, 2025, Glastonbury: a Pyramid Stage headline set that the band's manager called its only concert of the year.

Management has said a sixth studio album is in progress and that the band planned a touring break. Any announced dates appear in the event list on this page.

Why The 1975 on-sales run hot

  • Long gaps build pressure. Tours are infrequent, so demand piles up and lands all at once when a run is announced.
  • The rail sells in presale. Fan-list and venue presales run ahead of the public on-sale, and that is where most front-floor spots end up.
  • Marquee rooms draw more. The band has used the biggest arenas in New York and London for its filmed and special nights, so dates in buildings like those attract extra interest.
  • The UK and the US lead. The largest cities in both markets draw the heaviest demand.
  • Weekends go first. Friday and Saturday shows sell before midweek ones in the same region.

On the secondary market, a seat can sell over or under its original price, and listings tend to reprice as the date gets closer. Reserved Seat orders include guaranteed entry. For band news, see the1975.com.
