Best overall: center covered seats at a shed, lower bowl indoors

Most Dierks Bentley nights happen in a summer shed or an arena, and the seat that wins in one building is not always the one that wins in the other.

Upcoming Dierks Bentley dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Your Dierks Bentley seat, decided fast

For most fans the best Dierks Bentley seat is in the center of the covered reserved area at an amphitheater, or in a lower-bowl section facing the stage at an arena. Those two spots give you a clear look at the band, the cleanest sound and a seat you can actually use, since his crowds stand and sing for most of the night anyway.

Go closer only if you want the pit experience. Go farther back, to the lawn or the upper level, if the night matters more than the view. Everything below explains the trade-offs so you can pick with your eyes open.

Amphitheater choices, front to back

Summer sheds (outdoor amphitheaters with a roofed seating area and an open lawn behind it) are where Bentley has spent much of his headlining career. Here is how the zones compare.

  • Pit: when a venue sells a standing pit at the stage lip, it is the loudest and closest spot in the building and the priciest. Expect to stand the whole show.
  • Center covered seats: the best all-around choice. You are under the roof if it rains, square to the stage and in the main sound field.
  • Side covered seats: still sheltered, but the angle gets steep toward the outer edges.
  • Back rows under the roof: often the value buy, with one catch. In the last few rows the roof line can clip the top of the video screens, so look at the view before you commit.
  • Lawn: the lowest-cost ticket and the most social. You watch mostly on the screens and sit exposed to sun and rain, so bring a blanket and rain gear if the venue allows them.

Arena choices and the seats to skip

Indoor dates use buildings of roughly 12,000 to 20,000 seats, usually with an end stage (the stage at one end of the floor).

  • Lower bowl facing the stage: the top pick indoors. You sit above the floor crowd with a straight view of the band and screens.
  • Front floor: close and loud, but the floor is flat. After about the first 15 rows you are watching over a sea of hats.
  • Upper level, center: distant but complete. A reasonable choice for the budget-minded.

Skip side sections level with the stage, which sit at a sharp angle, and any seat marked limited view. Those are the seats people regret.

A night at a Dierks Bentley concert

Expect a fast, loud country show built on singalong radio hits, with a full band and a loose, party mood that fits a warm summer evening. The crowd knows the words to "What Was I Thinkin'" and "Drunk on a Plane" and stays on its feet. Bluegrass (acoustic string music built on banjo, fiddle and mandolin) sometimes surfaces in the set, so the night has more range than straight arena country.

Fair, festival and Grand Ole Opry appearances in Nashville are shorter and often shared with other artists. If you want the full headlining set, choose a headline date over a festival slot.

Hits, awards and the Grand Ole Opry

Bentley was born on November 20, 1975, in Phoenix, Arizona. Before his career took off, he worked as a researcher for The Nashville Network on the Opryland grounds and spent many nights backstage at the Opry. Capitol Nashville signed him in 2003, and his first single for the label, "What Was I Thinkin'," reached No. 1 on the Billboard country chart that year.

The Grand Ole Opry (Nashville's long-running country radio show and stage) inducted him on October 1, 2005. That same year he won the Academy of Country Music's Top New Artist award and the Country Music Association's Horizon Award. His studio albums have produced 27 singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, and 18 went to No. 1. "Gone" (2020) became his highest-charting Hot 100 single since his debut. Recent albums include Gravel & Gold (February 2023) and Broken Branches (June 13, 2025).

Two side projects show his range. Up on the Ridge (2010) was a bluegrass-leaning record with Vince Gill, Alison Krauss and Del McCoury. Hot Country Knights is his 1990s country parody band, in which he plays "Douglas 'Doug' Douglason"; it released The K Is Silent in 2020.

Tours on the record

  • 2007: Live and Loud at the Fillmore, a concert DVD filmed in Denver, Colorado.
  • 2013: the Locked and Reloaded Tour, 33 co-headlining shows with Miranda Lambert, starting January 17.
  • 2021 to 2022: the Beers On Me Tour, named for his 2021 single with Hardy and Breland and extended into 2022.

New runs have tended to follow album releases. Scheduled dates, when there are any, appear in the live event list on this page.

When his tickets move

Bentley dates usually sell at a steady pace instead of vanishing in minutes, which gives you time to compare sections. A few patterns are worth knowing.

  • Presales take the front: fan-club, venue and credit-card presales claim many of the best reserved seats before the public sale.
  • Weekend summer shows lead: Friday and Saturday amphitheater dates, especially near Nashville and in the Southeast and Mountain West, draw the most interest.
  • Lawn stays steady: lawn tickets tend to hold flatter than pit and front sections, which swing with resale demand.
  • Forecasts matter: rain in the forecast can soften lawn demand in the final days.

Frequently asked questions

Is the lawn a good seat for Dierks Bentley?

It is the most affordable and social option, but you watch mostly on the screens and are exposed to weather. Choose it for the atmosphere, not the view.

Why should I avoid the last rows under an amphitheater roof?

In some sheds the roof edge cuts off the top of the video screens from the back rows. Check the view before you buy those seats.

Does Dierks Bentley play bluegrass at his concerts?

Bluegrass is part of his catalog and sometimes appears in the set, though most of the show is his country radio hits.

When did Dierks Bentley join the Grand Ole Opry?

He was inducted on October 1, 2005, two years after his Opry debut.

Who is Doug Douglason?

It is the name Bentley uses in Hot Country Knights, his 1990s country parody band, which released The K Is Silent in 2020.
