Upcoming Marco Antonio Solís dates
Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
Sound and sightline first at an El Buki show
For Marco Antonio Solís, buy a seat in the lower bowl facing the stage. His concerts are built on romantic ballads that the audience sings back at full volume, so the experience depends far more on hearing a balanced mix and seeing him head-on than on being a few rows closer. A centered seat a little farther back usually beats a close seat at a hard angle.
Most of his solo dates are arena shows. The Los Bukis reunion, his former group's comeback, played stadiums. The guidance below covers both, and the seating map on your event shows which setup you are buying into.
Arena seats, ranked for a singalong night
- Lower bowl, center: the top choice. You get the sound as the engineers mix it and an unobstructed look at the stage without relying on the screens.
- Floor: the closest seats, but the floor is usually flat. Front rows are worth it if you want to be within reach of the big moments; rear floor rows see mostly heads and video.
- Lower bowl, sides near the stage: close, but the angle narrows your view of the band behind him.
- Upper level, middle sections: the budget option, and better than it sounds. With a crowd this loud, the atmosphere reaches the top rows, and sitting high but straight on often outperforms a low seat in the corner.
Buying for three generations at once
His audiences often include grandparents, parents and children in the same row, because his songs have been family music for decades. That changes the seat decision in a few ways:
- Favor aisle access. Seats on or near an aisle make restroom and concession trips far easier than a block buried mid-row on the floor.
- Buy early for large blocks. Groups purchasing four or more seats together thin out side-by-side inventory quickly.
- Think about stairs. Upper-level rows are steep in most arenas, which matters for older relatives.
At a stadium date, stay in front of the stage and close to the mixing desk at the field's midline. Seats deep along the sidelines turn the stage into a sliver, and entry and exit lines are long, so arrive early.
Songs, band and the shape of the night
Expect a full band, not a stripped-down set. The music shifts from Latin pop to cumbia to grupero (Mexican regional pop driven by keyboards and guitars, with love songs at its core), the sound of the Los Bukis years. His solo hits, including "Si No Te Hubieras Ido," "O Me Voy o Te Vas" and "Más Que Tu Amigo," are the moments the crowd waits for, and Los Bukis songs such as "Tu Cárcel" and "Y Ahora Te Vas" draw the same response. Set lists change from tour to tour.
Los Bukis back together, then a 45-year solo tour
This record comes from the sources listed below; upcoming shows appear in the event list on this page.
- 2021, Una Historia Cantada: a quarter century after breaking up, Los Bukis returned with a sold-out stadium opener in Inglewood, California, where SoFi Stadium held about 70,000 people. Chicago's Soldier Field and an Oakland date came early in the run.
- 2022, a second round: the reunion resumed with a Los Angeles show on August 18, 2022, moved into Mexico and wrapped in Monterrey in December.
- 2023 to 2024, El Buki, La Gira Mundial: his own tour, later retitled Eternamente Agradecido, celebrated 45 years on stage and visited cities throughout Latin America.
Chile knows him well, too: he has played the Viña del Mar Festival five times, in 2005, 2008, 2011, 2016 and 2019.
When El Buki dates sell, and to whom
Demand follows his audience. Markets with big Mexican and Mexican-American populations sell hardest, which explains why the reunion launched in the Los Angeles area and stopped in Chicago. Weekend nights suit families traveling together, so Fridays and Saturdays tend to go first. Resale prices can sit over or under the printed price and often move during the last week. Every Reserved Seat order ships free. Tour news is posted on marcoantoniosolis.com.
From Ario de Rosales to Person of the Year
Born Marco Antonio Solís Sosa in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán, at the end of 1959 (December 29), he started Los Bukis in his hometown in 1973. He sang, played guitar and wrote most of the material until the band broke apart in the mid-1990s, and the nickname El Buki stuck with him. En Pleno Vuelo, his first album under his own name, arrived in 1996. The honors since include five Latin Grammy wins, induction into Billboard's Latin Music Hall of Fame (2000), a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (August 5, 2010) and the Latin Recording Academy's 2022 Person of the Year award.
Frequently asked questions
Are floor seats worth it at a Marco Antonio Solís concert?
Front floor rows are worth it if you want to be close for the biggest songs. Farther back, the flat floor limits your view, and a centered lower-bowl seat is usually the better buy.
Is an El Buki show a good outing for a family?
Yes. His audiences commonly span several generations. Aisle-adjacent lower-bowl seats make it easier for a mixed-age group to step out during the show.
Where does the name El Buki come from?
It is borrowed from Los Bukis, the band he started in his Michoacán hometown in 1973 and fronted for more than two decades.
How big was the Los Bukis reunion?
The 2021 Una Historia Cantada tour opened with a sold-out show of about 70,000 at SoFi Stadium, and a second round followed in 2022 through the US and Mexico.
What awards has Marco Antonio Solís received?
Five Latin Grammys, a place in Billboard's Latin Music Hall of Fame since 2000, a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and the Latin Recording Academy's 2022 Person of the Year honor.
