Dance on the GA floor · watch the show from a centered lower seat

Marshmello plays DJ sets, not band concerts, so the right ticket depends on whether you want to dance in the crowd or take in the lights and screens.

Dance floor or a seat: the Marshmello decision

Marshmello performs DJ sets: one unbroken mix of his tracks, remixes and other artists' songs, played from a booth rather than by a band. That makes the choice simple. If you came to dance, buy general admission (standing room) and get on the floor. If you came to see the lighting rig and the giant screens, a seat facing the stage beats being close, because the booth itself is a small target.

Most of his dates fall into three formats: Las Vegas nightclub nights, festival slots and arena shows. Each one changes where the good spots are.

Spot-by-spot advice for each format

Las Vegas nightclubs

A general-admission club ticket gets you onto a crowded dance floor, and from most of it you will barely glimpse the DJ. Clubs sell tables and bottle service on their own, which buys room to move and a perch above the crowd. Headline sets in Las Vegas often begin long after midnight, so time your arrival to his slot rather than to doors.

Festivals

Up front it is packed and shoving. The better move is to stand by the front-of-house tent, where the engineers mix the sound midway back on the field: the audio is cleanest there, and every screen is in view.

Arenas

Floor GA is for dancing, and that is the reason to pay for it. If you would rather watch, a lower-level seat straight across from the stage takes in the full lighting and video design, which does more of the work than the booth.

Where not to be

Seats pressed against the stage's flanks often lose sight of the video walls, and a steep side angle hides the booth entirely.

Bass drops, guest vocals and the smiling helmet

The pace is quick: trap and bass drops (the heavy low-end hit after a buildup) stitched between his pop crossover songs, with big lighting cues and a cartoon grin on the helmet filling the screens. Since most of those songs feature guest vocalists, expect the recorded vocals unless a featured singer shows up in person.

His audience is wider than a typical dance crowd, because a string of collaborations reached pop radio. "Alone" (2016, released on Monstercat) gave him his first Hot 100 entry. "Silence" with Khalid, out in August 2017, topped Dance charts in three countries, and "Wolves" with Selena Gomez went top 10 across more than 20 markets that year. "Friends" with Anne-Marie followed in 2018. The biggest was "Happier" with Bastille, which peaked at number two on the Hot 100 and held the top spot of Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs list for a record 69 weeks. In 2020, "Come & Go" with Juice WRLD matched that number-two peak.

Clubs, festivals and a Fortnite stage, by date

  • 2015 and 2016: early bookings included HARD's Day of the Dead event in Pomona and Miami Music Week, followed by an EDC Las Vegas set on June 19, 2016.
  • 2016 to 2017: the Ritual Tour, his first headline run under a tour name, ran from late September into January and visited the US, China, South Korea, India and Paraguay.
  • February 2019: a concert inside Fortnite pulled more than 10 million players on its first day and set a template for virtual shows.
  • 2019: he signed a two-year deal at Kaos inside the Palms, which ended when the club shut that November. XS Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas booked him afterward, for example on September 25, 2021.
  • May 2021: headliner of the opening ceremony at the UEFA Champions League Final.
  • August 2025: an opening slot on a handful of Jonas Brothers shows, from MetLife Stadium (August 10, where he came out for "Slow Motion") to Hershey, Toronto, the Chicago suburb of Tinley Park and Dallas.

DJ schedules change fast, and many bookings are single nights. Check the listings on this page, or the tour section of marshmellomusic.com, for what is on sale.

Format, not date, drives Marshmello demand

  • Club capacity is small. A Las Vegas club holds a fraction of an arena, so holiday and big-event weekends go first.
  • A festival pass covers the lineup. He is one draw among many, though the one-day ticket for the day he plays usually sells quicker than the others.
  • A support slot is the headliner's ticket. When he opens for another act, demand and pricing follow that headliner.
  • Age limits split his audience. Fortnite and the pop features won him a young following. Those fans can get into plenty of arena and festival shows, but most Vegas clubs admit adults only, so read each event's age rule.

Reserved Seat includes guaranteed entry with every order. ID, bag and entry rules at clubs and festivals change often; confirm them with the venue shortly before the date.

From Dotcom to an anonymous helmet

The man in the helmet is Christopher Comstock, born May 19, 1992. He first uploaded music to SoundCloud in 2010 as Dotcom, mostly mashups and dubstep edits, and debuted the Marshmello name with an original called "Wavez" in early 2015. When Skrillex reposted "Find Me," the project took off, and in 2017 Forbes reported who he was. Deadmau5, with his own respelled name and oversized mask, is the clear model for the persona.

The catalog starts with Joytime (2016) and includes Shockwave (2021), nominated for the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album, plus a Latin record, Sugar Papi (2023). In 2025 he released "Slow Motion" alongside the Jonas Brothers and "Holy Water" alongside Jelly Roll, and that January he unveiled Underbrook, a pop-punk group he leads as Comstock.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Marshmello show a live band or a DJ set?

It is a DJ set. He plays a continuous mix from a booth, and the lighting and video carry the visuals.

What is Marshmello's real name?

Christopher Comstock, born in 1992. His identity was reported by Forbes in 2017.

Can under-21 fans see Marshmello?

Usually not at Las Vegas clubs, which are generally adults-only for 21 and up. Arena and festival shows set their own age rules, so read the policy on the event you are buying.

Where should I stand at a festival Marshmello set?

By the soundboard tent midway back on the field. The audio is best there and you can see every screen; the front is closer but tightly packed.

Did Marshmello tour with the Jonas Brothers?

Yes, as an opener on a few August 2025 dates. At MetLife Stadium on August 10 he also joined the band on stage for Slow Motion.
