Porter Robinson Tickets

Best spot: center floor or a raised seat facing the screens

Porter Robinson performs his songs live against a wall of visuals, so a spot square to the screens often beats a crowded one closer to him.

Upcoming Porter Robinson dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Porter Robinson seats: face the screens

Pick a spot that looks straight at the stage and its screens. A Porter Robinson concert tells its story through video and lighting as much as through sound, and he performs the songs himself, singing and working synths and sample pads, instead of mixing records. A position centered on the stage, whether on the floor near the sound desk or in a raised seat, catches all of that.

At most electronic concerts the floor is general admission (GA: you stand wherever you can find room), and assigned seats ring it on the levels overhead. Check the map on your listing, because buildings differ.

GA floor zones and reserved tiers, compared

  • Front third of the floor: peak energy and a near view of him at the keyboards. It is packed, and you need to arrive early to hold a place.
  • Center floor, by the sound desk: the mix engineers aim for, with the whole video and lighting design in front of you.
  • Rear floor: elbow room, short walks to the bar and the doors, and a view that depends mostly on the video wall.
  • Lower tier, facing the stage: because the visuals carry so much of the night, a raised seat here often outdoes standing deep in the floor crowd.
  • Sharp side angles: avoid them. Speaker towers and truss can hide the main screen from there.

His crowds sing the vocal hooks back to him, which makes even a festival tent feel closer to an indie or pop concert than a rave.

Festival sets and Second Sky

Festival stages have no seating at all. Get to the field one act early and settle on the stage's center line rather than beside a sound tower. His festival history is long: the Worlds Live show topped bills at Ultra, EDC and Coachella, and the Nurture Live run ended its North American leg at Coachella in April 2023.

Second Sky is his own festival, a one-day event in Oakland, California, that he curates. Goldenvoice co-presented the 2019 debut on the Oakland waterfront at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, and the presale went so quickly that organizers added a second day. Later editions came in 2021, which also saw the debut of his Air2Earth project, and 2022, with an online spin-off called Secret Sky filling the pandemic years. If you can only see him once, this is the version with his chosen lineup, a complete headline set and an audience that came specifically for him.

A live show, not a DJ set

The break with conventional DJ sets came with Worlds Live in 2014. Robinson has explained that formula EDM, with its scheduled build-ups and drops, wore him out, so his concerts lead with melody, singing and visuals. The format has changed with every record.

  • Worlds Live (2014): the debut of the live format, colored by the anime and game imagery he loves.
  • Shelter Live (2016 to 2017): roughly twelve months co-headlining with Madeon, with both producers on stage together.
  • Virtual Self (2017 to 2018): an alter ego playing faster sets drawn from trance and hardcore.
  • Nurture Live (2021 to 2023): new on-stage versions, which he calls live edits, of material from both Nurture and Worlds.
  • The Smile! :D era (2024 and 2025): a guitar-heavier sound with a live band, which he took to triple j's Like a Version in February 2025.

Album cycles and on-sale timing

Robinson tours in distinct cycles with long breaks between them, and that shapes how his tickets sell.

  • Pent-up demand. Tours follow albums (2014, 2021, 2024), so years of waiting land on one short on-sale window.
  • Fast, organized fans. His audience is young and online. The 2019 Second Sky presale moved so fast a second day was added.
  • Tiered releases. Bigger shows and festivals often sell in price tiers, and the cheaper early tiers vanish first; after that, resale is the main source.
  • Weekend city dates go first. Weekend nights in the biggest cities sell first, while weeknights in smaller cities leave more choice late.

On the resale market, prices may land over or under face value and tend to shift during show week. Reserved Seat orders include free shipping.

Tours from Language to Smile! :D

His first headline run was the Language Tour of 2012. Worlds Live followed in 2014, and the Shelter Live Tour with Madeon was up for Live Act of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards in 2017. In 2018 his Virtual Self alias worked the festival circuit, Bonnaroo included, then spent two months touring North America as Utopia System.

Nurture Live lasted from September 2021 to November 2023, moving from North America to Europe (April 2022), Asia (March 2023), Coachella and finally Australia. His first true world tour, for Smile! :D, began in August 2024 and passed 70 shows, and support changed by region: Ericdoa in North America, Galileo Galilei for the two Japan cities, Ninajirachi in Australia, Underscores in Europe. Any scheduled dates appear in the event list on this page and at porterrobinson.com.

Chapel Hill producer, OWSLA's first release

Robinson was born in Atlanta in mid-July 1992 and grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Self-taught, he was making tracks by age 12, and by 18 he had a deal with OWSLA, the label Skrillex founded. The 2011 Spitfire EP was OWSLA's first release and went to the top of Beatport's overall chart.

Worlds (2014) and Nurture (2021) both topped Billboard's dance and electronic albums ranking; The Fader named Nurture the best album of 2021. Smile! :D arrived in July 2024. Other credits: a co-writing role on "Clarity," Zedd's top 10 single; mtvU's 2015 Artist of the Year award; seven straight appearances in DJ Mag's annual Top 100; and a Grammy nod for the Virtual Self track "Ghost Voices."

Frequently asked questions

Where should I stand at a Porter Robinson show?

The middle of the floor, close to the mixing desk, sounds best and faces the screens head-on. The front third is closest but crowded, and a raised seat facing the stage is a strong alternative.

Is a Porter Robinson concert a DJ set?

No. His headline shows since 2014 are live performances with vocals and synths, and his most recent era brought a full live band.

Where is Second Sky held?

Second Sky is held in Oakland, California. The first edition ran in 2019 on the Oakland waterfront with Goldenvoice, followed by 2021 and 2022 editions.

Why do Porter Robinson tickets sell so fast?

He tours in album cycles with long gaps, so demand builds for years and lands on a short on-sale window. His fan base is young, online and quick to buy.

What is Virtual Self?

Virtual Self is Porter Robinson's alias for faster, trance- and hardcore-influenced music. Its track Ghost Voices earned a Grammy nomination, and the project toured North America in 2018.
