Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Start With the Venue, Then the Ticket

Broccoli City Festival brings hip-hop and R&B to the region around the nation's capital, and it rarely returns to the same place twice in a row. Since settling near Washington it has been held in spring, midsummer and early fall, at an open festival ground, NFL and MLS stadiums, a ballpark and an amphitheater. So the best ticket depends on where that year's edition lands. Check the venue first, then read its seat map.

The 2026 edition, billed as the Holding Hands R&B experience, took place on a single day, September 19, 2026, at Jiffy Lube Live, the open-air amphitheater out in Bristow, Virginia. Nothing about 2027, whether timing, location or performers, had been made public as of October 2026.

Field, Stadium or Amphitheater: Where to Sit

Each venue type changes the trade-offs:

  • Festival grounds (such as the RFK Festival Grounds in 2023): general admission (GA) means standing room. Your view depends on how early you arrive and how far forward you get.
  • Stadium years (such as Audi Field in 2024): the field is usually standing GA, while the stands offer reserved seats. A lower-level section toward the stage end gives a cleaner view than standing at the back of the field. In 2024 buyers could also choose skyboxes, climate-controlled VIP lounges and reserved seating blocks; none of those exist unless the festival is booked into a stadium.
  • Amphitheater years (Jiffy Lube Live in 2026): GA typically means the lawn. A reserved seat in the covered pavilion (the fixed seating in front of the lawn) gives you better sightlines and sound than anywhere past the middle of the lawn.

When VIP is sold, expect its own entrance, a lounge and nicer restrooms. In two-day years you choose between single-day and weekend passes; 2026 was a single day.

Presales and What Moves Demand

Early-access windows tend to start several days before public tickets go live, unlocked by credit-card or festival codes shared on the festival's social channels; in 2024 that included a Chase cardholder presale. Interest follows the headliner more than the Broccoli City name, so the lineup announcement is the biggest single driver of demand. Buy after you know who is playing and where. Reserved Seat orders are backed by a 100% guarantee.

Edition by Edition: Sites and Headliners

A sampling from Wikipedia and local coverage, newest first:

  • 2026, Sept. 19, Jiffy Lube Live: an all-R&B day topped by Summer Walker, with kwn, Destin Conrad and Elmiene lower on the bill.
  • 2025, Aug. 8–10: the festival partnered with Chris Brown, whose Breezy Bowl XX tour played Nationals Park on the Sunday with Bryson Tiller and Summer Walker in support. A Friday trap karaoke party and a Saturday block party filled out the weekend.
  • 2024, July 27–28, Audi Field: the first stadium edition in Navy Yard, with Gunna, Lil Yachty, PartyNextDoor and Megan Thee Stallion, and side programming in comedy, gaming and karaoke.
  • 2023, July 15–16, RFK Festival Grounds: Asake, Ice Spice, Kodak Black, Brent Faiyaz and Lil Uzi Vert, though storms knocked out part of the schedule.
  • 2022, May 7–8: Wizkid, Summer Walker, Lil Durk, 21 Savage, Ari Lennox and Wale over two days.
  • 2019, FedEx Field, Landover, Maryland: Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino.
  • 2017, May 6: Solange, with Rae Sremmurd, Lil Yachty and 21 Savage.

Getting There Depends on the Year

  • Navy Yard (Audi Field, Nationals Park): just blocks separate these two stadiums, and one Metro stop, Navy Yard–Ballpark, covers both. From a downtown hotel, ride the train.
  • FedEx Field, Landover: a suburban stadium east of the city where most fans drive or take rideshare.
  • Jiffy Lube Live, Bristow: far out in the suburbs and off the Metro map. You will drive, pay to park and wait in a long line of cars leaving after the closing set.

Staying overnight? In stadium years, book in Navy Yard, the Capitol Riverfront area or central Washington, D.C.; in amphitheater years, a hotel in Northern Virginia cuts the commute. Each venue writes its own bag rules, so check the festival's and the venue's current policy before you go. The Broccoli City site posts each year's details.

Earth Day Roots and a D.C. Identity

Broccoli City began on the West Coast. In 2010, Greensboro, North Carolina, native Brandon McEachern and his friend Marcus Allen put on a Los Angeles show tied to Earth Day and to the apparel brand they were building. Skeme, Casey Veggies, Dom Kennedy and Kendrick Lamar performed. Two more co-founders, Jermon Williams and Darryl Perkins, joined for the relocation east. Wikipedia places the first D.C. edition in 2013, headlined by Big K.R.I.T.

From the start the organizers framed it as a cause festival, raising awareness of the environment and of health issues among Black Americans, and it has drawn about 35,000 people (a 2018 figure). The 2022 festival weekend doubled as the debut of BLK Change Weekend, a program on racial equity aimed at a younger Black audience.

Frequently asked questions

Are there reserved seats at Broccoli City Festival?

It depends on the venue. Stadium editions, such as Audi Field in 2024, sold reserved sections and skyboxes; amphitheater editions have pavilion seats and a lawn; festival-ground years are standing GA.

Where was Broccoli City Festival in 2026?

The 2026 edition was a single R&B day on September 19, held at the Bristow, Virginia, amphitheater Jiffy Lube Live, with Summer Walker on top.

Has Broccoli City announced 2027 dates?

Not as of October 2026, and past editions give little guidance: they have landed anywhere from April to September.

Is the lawn or the pavilion better at an amphitheater edition?

For sightlines and sound, a reserved pavilion seat wins over the rear of the lawn, which is general admission.

Which Metro stop serves Broccoli City's Navy Yard venues?

Use Navy Yard–Ballpark for either Audi Field or Nationals Park. No Metro line reaches Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow.
