Boston Calling Tickets

Back June 4–6, 2027 · Allston · lighter days, smaller crowds

Boston Calling sat out 2026 and comes back to Allston in early June 2027. Pick the day before the tier, since one night usually draws the crowd.

Boston Calling Day Picking, Made Simple

Boston Calling returns June 4–6, 2027, at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Boston's Allston neighborhood, after taking 2026 off. As of October 2026 the festival's site lists the dates but not the lineup. Once the bill appears, the most useful decision is which day to attend, not which tier.

The reason is crowd size. Demand piles onto the day with the biggest headliner. In 2024, Sunday drew an estimated 40,000 people while Saturday drew about 16,000. A lighter day can mean easier movement between stages, shorter lines and a ticket that is simpler to find. If your favorite act plays the big night, consider an upgraded tier for that day only, since that is when getting around is hardest.

GA, GA+, VIP and Platinum, Based on 2025

Boston Calling has not published its 2027 tiers. Here is what the 2025 festival offered:

  • Four tiers, each as a single-day or three-day pass: General Admission, GA+ (General Plus), VIP and Platinum.
  • A two-day GA pass.
  • Reduced-price single-day and three-day GA for students, military, first responders, medical staff and educators.
  • Payment plans at checkout.

The upgrades earn the most on a sold-out day, when the walk between stages and the restroom lines are at their worst. On a quieter day, GA is usually enough. Whatever you choose, Reserved Seat orders include a 100% guarantee.

Why the Festival Skipped 2026

Organizers announced a one-year pause on June 20, 2025, and named June 4–6, 2027, as the return. They gave no reason. A few days later, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu told a radio interviewer that the organizers expected 2026 events, including the nation's 250th anniversary celebrations and FIFA World Cup matches at Gillette Stadium, to put heavy pressure on hotel rooms, events and sponsorships.

The return also moves the festival on the calendar. Every edition from 2016 through 2025 took place in the second half of May; 2027 lands in early June.

Past Bills, Night by Night

The booking spans rock, indie, hip-hop, pop and country, with a headliner closing each of three nights:

  • 2025: Dave Matthews Band, Fall Out Boy and Luke Combs, with Vampire Weekend, Avril Lavigne and Megan Moroney as co-headliners.
  • 2024: The Killers, Tyler Childers and Ed Sheeran, plus co-headliners Hozier, Trey Anastasio and Leon Bridges.
  • 2023: Paramore, The Lumineers and Foo Fighters, whose set was their first major show since drummer Taylor Hawkins died.
  • 2022: Metallica, with Nine Inch Nails playing two nights after Foo Fighters and The Strokes pulled out.
  • 2019: Tame Impala, Travis Scott and Twenty One Pilots.
  • 2018: Jack White, The Killers and Eminem.

Earlier editions featured Beck, Sia, Of Monsters and Men, Vampire Weekend, Kendrick Lamar and The National. The lineup announcement has historically come months ahead of the festival, and that is when demand jumps.

The T to Allston, and Why Not to Drive

Boston Calling was planned around public transit. There is no parking on site, none on the neighborhood streets, and the city tickets and tows aggressively.

  • Red Line: ride to Harvard Square and walk about 10 minutes to the main gate at 65 N. Harvard Street.
  • Bus: MBTA routes 66 and 86 stop near Harvard Stadium.
  • Commuter rail: Boston Landing station sits about a mile away.
  • Rideshare: use 65 N. Harvard Street as the destination and get out on N. Harvard Street. Soldiers Field Road has enforced no-stopping rules.
  • Bicycle: bike parking has been offered on site.

For hotels, food and other events while you are in town, see the Boston city guide. If you want a game on the same trip, check the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park or the arena calendar at TD Garden.

Bags, Kids and Layout Fixes

These rules come from the 2025 festival and could change for 2027. Confirm them on the Boston Calling site before you go.

  • Bags: a single-pocket clutch or fanny pack up to 6 by 9 inches, or a clear bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches.
  • Not allowed: glass, coolers, chairs, blankets, umbrellas, strollers, drones, professional cameras, tobacco products, weapons and pets other than service animals.
  • Children: under 10 admitted free, no wristband required.

The layout has changed in response to crowding. Fans criticized overcrowding at the 2024 edition, especially when moving between stages, and organizers pledged improvements. For 2025 they replaced the separate Red and Green stages with one rotating main stage, added water stations and reopened the indoor arena on site, with air conditioning and jazz from Berklee College of Music performers. Whether those changes return in 2027 has not been announced.

From WFNX Idea to Harvard Fields

Brian Appel and Mike Snow, who had worked together at the alternative rock station WFNX, developed Boston Calling after the station went off the air in 2012. Their aim was a major festival inside city limits that people could reach on the T. The name riffs on the Clash album London Calling, and Aaron Dessner of The National helped shape the early lineups.

  • 2013: a two-day Memorial Day weekend debut at City Hall Plaza that sold out early, the first major event in Boston after the Marathon bombing.
  • 2013 to 2015: two editions a year, in May and September, expanding from two days to three.
  • 2016: the Madison Square Garden Company took a controlling stake and the festival became a single late-May event.
  • 2017: the move to the Harvard Athletic Complex, with more stages and non-music acts. Crowds rose to about 40,000, from roughly 20,000 to 22,000 before.
  • 2020 and 2021: both canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • By 2023: part of Live Nation Entertainment.
