FIFA Intercontinental Cup Tickets

Final in December · Europe's champion waits · midfield sideline first

Six continental club champions, five knockout matches and one December final. Here is which match to buy and which side of the stadium to sit on.

Upcoming FIFA Intercontinental Cup dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Pick the match first, then the seat

At the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, the match you choose matters more than the section. The final is the one big crowd of the tournament; the neutral-site rounds before it have drawn fewer than 10,000 people. So if you want atmosphere, buy the final and aim for a sideline seat near midfield. If you want an easy, uncrowded look at elite club soccer, buy a December semifinal-stage match and take almost any sideline seat you like.

The tournament is FIFA's yearly club championship, first held in 2024, contested by the reigning champions of its six confederations. Europe's champion skips ahead to the December final. Paris Saint-Germain hold the title after winning in 2025.

Crowd size by round, and what it means for you

Attendance figures from the first two editions show a clear pattern:

  • Final: 67,249 at Lusail Stadium in 2024 and 42,150 at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in 2025. Midfield seats go first.
  • Derby of the Americas and Challenger Cup: 7,108 and 8,368 in 2025. Expect plenty of empty seats around you.
  • Early rounds at club grounds: it depends entirely on the host. Al-Ahli filled 49,284 seats in Jeddah in 2025 and 46,628 in 2026; Pyramids drew 4,157 in Cairo in 2025.

One factor overrides the bracket: traveling supporters. A big South American club or a Mexican side with a large following can lift demand for a December match well above what its round would suggest.

Sideline, end or upper tier

The December matches in 2024 and 2025 were played in Qatar at stadiums that hosted 2022 World Cup matches, including Lusail Stadium and Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, which was rebuilt from 2017 to 2020. Both are soccer venues, with stands close to the pitch, so sightlines are good almost everywhere. The decisions that remain:

Midfield sideline

The best seat for reading the game: you see both penalty areas, the team shapes and the space between the lines. This is the premium zone for the final.

Behind the goals

Organized supporter groups, especially from South American clubs, tend to gather at the ends. Choose these seats for singing and flags. The far end of the pitch will look distant.

Upper sideline

The value choice at a lightly attended match. You get the full pitch, a tactical view and room around you.

Which end

Rival fans may be placed at opposite ends. If you are backing one club, confirm which end a listing sits in before you buy.

Who sells Intercontinental Cup tickets

Two sellers matter, depending on the round:

  • FIFA sells the neutral-site December matches through its tournament pages. In 2025 it opened a presale for Visa cardholders covering the last three matches before the general sale began.
  • Host clubs handle the early African–Asian–Pacific rounds played at their own stadiums. Watch the club's announcements.

The resale market fills gaps once official inventory is gone, which is most likely for the final or for a home-ground match with a large local following. Reserved Seat orders come with no digital transfer fees, which helps when tickets for a match abroad arrive electronically.

Five matches from August to December

The six qualifiers are the winners of the AFC Champions League Elite (Asia), the CAF Champions League (Africa), the CONCACAF Champions Cup (North America, Central America and the Caribbean), the Copa Libertadores (South America), the OFC Professional League (Oceania) and the UEFA Champions League (Europe). The rounds run in this order:

  • African–Asian–Pacific Cup play-off: Oceania's champion against the Asian or African champion, at the higher-ranked club's stadium.
  • African–Asian–Pacific Cup: that winner against the remaining Asian or African champion, again at the higher-ranked club's ground.
  • Derby of the Americas: the South American and CONCACAF champions, at a neutral venue.
  • Challenger Cup: the two previous winners, at a neutral venue.
  • Final: the Challenger Cup winner against Europe's champion, at a neutral venue.

Level matches get 30 minutes of extra time, then a penalty shootout. Every round has its own trophy, and the champion wears the FIFA Champions Badge until the next final. The early rounds fall from late August through September; the last three matches are grouped in December.

The 2026 edition so far

The 2026 tournament opened on August 26 at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, with Al-Ahli beating Auckland FC 1–0. On September 19, Mamelodi Sundowns won 2–1 against Al-Ahli at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria. In December, Toluca of Mexico meets the 2026 Copa Libertadores winner in the Derby of the Americas, the winner plays Mamelodi Sundowns in the Challenger Cup, and that survivor faces Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

As of mid-September 2026, FIFA had not named the venues for the December matches. Confirm the stadium, dates, local transit and entry rules on FIFA's tournament page once they are published.

Why the tournament exists, and the first two champions

FIFA's Council approved the event on March 14, 2023, three months after voting to turn the Club World Cup into a 32-team tournament held every four years, starting in the United States in 2025. The confederations wanted an annual meeting of champions to continue, and FIFA treats the Intercontinental Cup as the continuation of the yearly world title the old Club World Cup awarded from 2000 to 2023. It is a separate competition from the original Intercontinental Cup (1960 to 2004), a Europe against South America match organized by UEFA and CONMEBOL.

The trophy follows the 2005 to 2023 Club World Cup design, a gold globe on six pillars, and a new one is made each year.

  • 2024: Real Madrid beat Pachuca 3–0 at Lusail Stadium on December 18. Pachuca had beaten Botafogo 3–0 and then Al Ahly on penalties to get there; the early rounds were in Al Ain and Cairo, and the December matches were split between Stadium 974 in Doha and Lusail.
  • 2025: Paris Saint-Germain drew 1–1 with Flamengo on December 17 and won the shootout for the club's first world title. Flamengo had beaten Cruz Azul 2–1 and Pyramids 2–0. The early rounds were in Cairo and Jeddah, and all three December matches were at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan.

Real Madrid were not in the 2025 edition because the place goes to the current European champion, and Arsenal had eliminated them from the 2024–25 Champions League.
