Best volleyball seats at a glance
The view that serves most fans is along the sideline, a handful of rows above the floor. From there you see both halves of the court, follow the ball over the net, and have enough height to read the block and the back-row defense as a play develops.
- Front-row courtside: loud and close to the players, but at floor level the net, antennas and the referee's stand can hide part of the far side.
- Behind the end line: a strong angle on serves and rotations, but it is hard to judge depth and whether a ball landed in.
- Final Four arenas: a volleyball court looks small inside an NBA-size building. Pay for lower-level sideline seats; upper corners feel very distant.
- Beach center courts: the bleachers are close to the sand, but you sit in direct sun for hours. Pick a side that puts the sun at your back if you can.
Pro indoor volleyball: LOVB and MLV
Women's pro indoor volleyball plays from January into spring in two leagues.
League One Volleyball
LOVB grew out of a youth club network and started its pro league in 2025 with six teams: Salt Lake City, Madison, Houston, Austin, Atlanta and Omaha, which became Nebraska for 2026. LOVB Austin took the first two titles, in 2025 and 2026. The 2026 schedule expanded to 20 matches per team, with the semifinals played in Louisville and the final in Long Beach, California. For 2027, expansion clubs in Miami, San Francisco, Minnesota and Los Angeles are due to start play.
Major League Volleyball
The Pro Volleyball Federation, after two seasons, merged with Major League Volleyball in August 2025, and the combined league kept the MLV name. Its 2026 campaign, counted as season three, opened in January with eight clubs: San Diego, Orlando, Omaha, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Dallas, Columbus and Atlanta. Washington, D.C., and Northern California are slated to get teams in 2027.
Both leagues are new, and names, cities and arenas have shifted from year to year, so confirm a team's current home building on its own site.
The college game and its December finish
NCAA women's volleyball runs from late August to a December championship, and it draws crowds few other women's sports can match. On August 30, 2023, Nebraska played Omaha in Memorial Stadium in Lincoln in front of 92,003 people, the biggest crowd on record for a women's sporting event in the United States. At its usual home, the Bob Devaney Sports Center, Nebraska has sold out every home match since 2001, the longest such streak in college women's sports.
The Division I bracket opens with 64 teams and ends with a Final Four at a neutral arena. Texas A&M beat Kentucky for the 2025 title at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City; the Alamodome in San Antonio is scheduled to host in 2026 and Nationwide Arena in Columbus in 2027. Stanford has the most titles with nine, ahead of Penn State with eight and Nebraska with five. Many of the leading programs play in the Big Ten and the SEC, and most of their home matches are in campus gyms seating a few thousand, so seats for a top team are hard to come by.
Summer on the sand with the AVP
Beach volleyball, two players a side instead of six, is a summer sport played in temporary stadiums on the sand. The Association of Volleyball Professionals, founded in 1983, runs the leading US beach tour, and in 2024 it added the AVP League, a team format in which each city fields one men's pair and one women's pair, alongside the classic tournaments. The biggest event, the Manhattan Beach Open, has been staged beside the Manhattan Beach Pier in California since 1960, making it the country's longest-running beach tournament, with an estimated 60,000 or more spectators across three days.
Beach events frequently pair free open seating around the outer courts with paid or reserved seats at center court, so confirm what your ticket includes.
Buying patterns and match-day advice
Because the pro leagues are so new, most pro tickets sell one match at a time, with season plans for regulars, and fan bases are still forming city by city. Deloitte's 2026 women's sports report forecasts that global women's elite sports revenue will reach at least 3 billion US dollars in 2026, roughly 30 percent of it from matchdays, and points to relatively few repeat ticket holders. Put simply, many people in the stands at a pro match are buying a single game for the first time.
- College seats are scarce. Top programs fill small gyms through season tickets and donor priority, which leaves resale as the main route in for everyone else.
- Final Four packages: tickets may cover every session, both semifinals and the final, so read whether a listing means one session or the full package.
- Get there for warmups. A match is best-of-five; a sweep may wrap up in an hour, a long match can go well past that, so do not plan around a fixed end time.
- Look up the bag policy for the specific arena before you go; college venues set their own rules.
