Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
Wolverines seats: the row decides more than the section
For a Michigan Wolverines game, buy a sideline section between the 30-yard lines and aim for rows 25 to 60. Sit lower and the people standing along the sideline get in your way; sit much higher and the players look like game pieces. The Big House has no upper deck at all. It is one enormous bowl sunk mostly below ground level, and some sections run to 98 rows, so a seat near the top of a section and one near the bottom are barely the same product.
Capacity is 107,601, more than any other stadium in the country, and crowds have topped 100,000 at every home game since November 8, 1975. Expect six or seven home Saturdays, starting around the end of August and finishing near Thanksgiving.
- Best view: west sideline, rows 25 to 60, between the 30s.
- Best for noise: sections next to the student block, without the obligation to stand all game.
- Best for comfort: the limited chairback seats high on the west side and in the clubs.
- Avoid at a day game if you can: low east sideline rows facing the afternoon sun.
West sideline, student block and the east-side sun
A listing's price tier is a shortcut to its location. Michigan sorts the bowl into five tiers: Victors, Valiant, Maize, Blue and End Zone. Here is what each area feels like.
West sideline
Outside seating guides place the Wolverines bench below Sections 22 through 24. That stretch and the sections beside it, between the 30s, are where the money goes. Most of the building's seats with backs are also on this side, near the top; almost everywhere else you sit on an aluminum bench with no armrest.
Student section
The same guides show students in Sections 26 through 33 plus portions of 25 and 34. Nobody sits there, and most of the stadium's noise starts there. Want the energy without standing the whole game? Buy a section or two over.
East sideline
With the end zones at the north and south, an afternoon sun settles above the west side of the bowl and glares across at the east stands. The bowl has no roof and next to no overhangs, so pack sunglasses and rain gear either way.
End zones
The End Zone tier is the entry price for the Big House. Low rows there give a flat view of the far end; higher rows help.

Ohio State years, Spartan visits and the Jug
Rivalries set the price of a Michigan ticket more than anything else.
- Ohio State: "The Game" goes back to 1897 and is always the final regular-season Saturday, in late November. The host has rotated since 1918: Michigan gets it when the year ends in an odd number, Ohio State when it is even, so the November 28, 2026, edition is in Columbus. Michigan holds the series lead. A decade of Bo Schembechler against Woody Hayes, 1969 through 1978, turned it into a national fixture, and in 2000 ESPN ranked it first among all North American sports rivalries. Expect an odd-year home date to be the costliest seat Michigan sells.
- Michigan State: The winner keeps the Paul Bunyan Trophy, a carved wooden figure four feet tall, in play since 1953. Hosting alternates, and a year with the Spartans in Ann Arbor ranks right behind Ohio State.
- Minnesota: Nothing in the sport is older as a rivalry prize than the Little Brown Jug, first claimed in 1903.
- Notre Dame: First played in 1887, the series has come and gone ever since. Michigan Stadium staged its first night kickoff for the Irish in 2011 and drew its all-time record crowd of 115,109 for them in 2013.
Prime-time kickoffs and ranked conference opponents also lift demand. Early September games against nonconference teams are the easiest way in.
Ann Arbor arrival: closures, FootballRide and lots
Give yourself more time than you think. You cannot walk from a hotel to the Big House, and streets near the stadium shut down long before kickoff. As of the 2026 season, South Main and East Keech close to traffic three hours out, and plenty of university lots are reserved for permit holders or season-ticket priority.
- FootballRide: TheRide runs a gameday shuttle that picks up at hotels and parking areas across town, beginning roughly two hours ahead of kickoff, and lets you off by Crisler Center near Gate 2.
- Tailgating and parking: Cars and tents fill school lots, the Ann Arbor Golf and Outing course, the grounds of Pioneer High School, business parking and plenty of front yards around the stadium.
- Gates: Doors open two hours ahead. Take your seat before the Michigan Marching Band starts its pregame show and the team runs out.
Current lots and road closures are posted on the Michigan Athletics parking page.
Getting in empty-handed: the Big House bag ban
Most stadiums let in a clear bag. Michigan does not. As of the 2026 season, you walk in with nothing: no purse, no clear tote, no fanny pack. Fans who need to carry medical supplies or childcare items go through one of two exception entrances, Gate 3 on the south end or Gate 9 West on the north, where staff check a single bag of reasonable size.
Also banned: bottles, outside food, umbrellas, strollers, and any seat cushion with a back or pockets. You can bring a blanket, rain gear, or a plain foam pad, and on aluminum benches the pad is worth it. Big Ten rules require a ticket for every person who enters, babies too. Confirm the latest rules on Michigan's stadium safety page before game day.
Season seats, PSC and the resale route at Michigan
Current season-ticket holders renew every spring and keep their seats. If you are new, you sign up for Michigan's football ticket interest list. Where you land depends on the Preferred Seat Contribution (PSC), a donation tied to many seats, and on priority points, the same system that decides parking. Students buy season passes in two windows: March for returning students and June for freshmen. The university stops selling online five hours ahead of kickoff.
A 107,601-seat bowl usually leaves single-game tickets for September nonconference dates. It does not for an odd-year Ohio State game, a Spartan visit or a top Big Ten opponent; season holders and students absorb nearly every seat, and buying resale becomes the realistic plan. Expect those prices to rise through November as the title picture sharpens. Reserved Seat orders include guaranteed entry.
Winningest program, winged helmet: Michigan background
No college team has more wins than Michigan, which played its first game in 1879. The school counts 12 national championships, beginning with Fielding Yost's four straight from 1901 to 1904 and most recently in 1997 and 2023; the 2023 title came with a playoff final win over Washington. Michigan owns or shares 45 Big Ten crowns and was in the inaugural Rose Bowl in 1902.
Three Wolverines have the Heisman: Harmon in 1940, Howard in 1991 and Woodson in 1997. The winged helmet arrived with Fritz Crisler in 1938, maize and blue are the colors, and "The Victors" dates to 1898. Bo Schembechler coached from 1969 to 1989 and won 13 conference titles.
The stadium opened in 1927. It hosted its first game under lights on September 10, 2011, and its largest crowd ever, 115,109, saw the Wolverines defeat Notre Dame on September 7, 2013.
