Upcoming Pittsburgh Steelers dates
Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
Your Steelers seat, decided in a minute
The best all-around Steelers seat at Acrisure Stadium is a lower-level sideline seat inside the 20s, roughly 15 rows up or more, on the west side, where the afternoon sun stays behind you. If comfort matters more than closeness, buy the 200-level club. If budget matters most, buy the front rows of a 500-level sideline section.
The stadium seats 68,400 and has no roof, so the side, the height and the month all change your experience. Use this quick filter:
- Want to see every play? Sideline, lower level, high enough to clear the benches.
- Want warmth and shade? The club level, tucked under the upper-deck overhang.
- Want the photo? The north end, looking out through the open south end at downtown.
- Want to spend less? Low rows in the upper sideline sections.
Preseason games come in August, the 17-game schedule fills September through early January, and January brings playoff football if the team qualifies.
Three tiers in a horseshoe: what each level gives you
Think of Acrisure Stadium as a horseshoe. Each sideline has its own grandstand of three stacked decks, the lowest deck runs all the way around the field, bleachers fill the top of the north end, and nothing at all closes the south end, which looks out over the Ohio River toward downtown.
The 100s
Sections 101 through 152 ring the field. Sideline rows from about 15 up give you enough height to see over players and staff standing on the sideline. Very low rows look close but put helmets and coaches in your line of sight.
The 200s
The club tier (sideline seats with indoor lounge access) is the comfort pick, and it earns its keep on cold December nights. Because the upper deck hangs over it, many rows stay shaded; a fan reviewer who sat in section 224 reported no sun at all from kickoff to the final whistle.
The 500s
The top deck runs down each sideline and across the north end. It is the least expensive part of the building. Low rows on the sideline give the best ratio of view to cost; high rows in the north end are the most distant seats in the stadium.
Afternoon sun, river wind and rain on grass
The open end points south, so the field is laid out on a north-south line. By midafternoon the sun hangs in the southwest sky: east-side fans stare into it, and west-side fans feel it on their backs. On a warm September afternoon, the west side or the shaded club rows are the comfortable choice.
In December, wind becomes the bigger factor. Air funnels off the rivers through the open south end, and the low rows of the south end zone take the worst of it. North end-zone seats are a little more sheltered and come with the skyline, though plays at the opposite goal line look shallow from there.
The playing surface is natural grass, and it has been criticized when it gets wet. That is mostly a player problem. Your problem is staying dry with no roof overhead: an umbrella can come through the gate but has to stay closed, so a rain jacket is the real answer.
The home dates Pittsburgh fans circle
Pittsburgh hosts eight or nine regular-season games a year, and demand is steady across the schedule. A few games still stand apart:
- Baltimore: the Ravens rivalry has defined the last few decades, and that date is normally the hardest seat to find.
- Cleveland and Cincinnati: both fan bases can drive in, adding buyers to a tight market. Fans call the Browns series the Turnpike Rivalry.
- Night kickoffs: prime-time games bring a national audience and higher resale demand.
- Home playoff games: these go on sale only after the bracket is known, so the window is short.
Preseason and early non-conference games are the easiest to get into. Crowds stay big in losing seasons too, which means resale prices dip less in a weak year here than in most NFL cities. For a rivalry game, buying early is usually the safer move.
Steeler Nation travels, and that affects your price
The Steelers following, known as Steeler Nation, has a long reputation for showing up in other teams' stadiums in large numbers. That cuts two ways for buyers.
- If you follow the Steelers on the road: Baltimore, Cleveland and Cincinnati are all reachable by car. Expect a crowd of fellow fans in black and gold, and expect those tickets to run above what the home team usually charges.
- If you follow another team: the Pittsburgh visit is often the priciest date on your own home schedule, because traveling Steelers fans are shopping for the same seats.
Pack a Terrible Towel either way. Broadcaster Myron Cope created the gold towel in 1975, and sales have benefited the Allegheny Valley School since 1996.
Light rail, North Shore lots and gate rules
You will find the stadium at 100 Art Rooney Avenue on the North Shore, with PNC Park just up the riverfront and downtown on the opposite bank.
- The T: Pittsburgh's light rail stops at Allegheny Station, where a covered walkway leads straight to the stadium, and also at North Side Station. Parking downtown and riding over is a common plan.
- Driving: lots carry color names (Gold, Red, Blue, Green, plus the Clark lots), and the Champions Garage stands between the two ballparks. Buy a pass in advance through ParkMobile; details are on the Acrisure Stadium parking page.
- By water or on foot: the Gateway Clipper riverboats run on game days, and downtown hotels are a walk across the bridges.
Tailgating is a big part of the day. ALCO Parking runs the lots and sets their rules and opening times, and tailgating is not allowed in the Champions Garage.
Entry rules as published for the 2026 season are below; confirm them in the current guide before you go:
- Doors open 120 minutes ahead of kickoff. Entrances are Gates A East and A West, Gates B and C, and the FedEx Great Hall.
- NFL-standard clear bags only.
- Cards and mobile pay only; if you carry cash, convert it to a prepaid card at the Great Hall ticket office.
- Once you exit, you cannot come back in, and smoking is banned throughout.
Every Reserved Seat order is backed by guaranteed entry.
Rooney roots, the Steel Curtain and a record draft
The franchise began on July 8, 1933, when Art Rooney launched it under the name Pittsburgh Pirates. The Steelers name arrived in 1940, and the team has stayed in Rooney hands from then to now. Pittsburgh has reached eight Super Bowls and won six, matching New England's total: IX, X, XIII and XIV came in a six-season burst during the 1970s, and XL and XLIII followed the 2005 and 2008 seasons.
- Three Rivers Stadium: home from 1970 to 2000, through the golden decade.
- The Immaculate Reception: the 1972 postseason catch that opened that era.
- The Steel Curtain: the 1970s defense anchored by Joe Greene, with Jack Lambert and Jack Ham behind him.
- The logo: adopted in 1962 and based on U.S. Steel's Steelmark.
Today's stadium was Heinz Field when it debuted in 2001; the Acrisure name came in 2022. The Pitt Panthers play there too, and the NHL brought outdoor hockey for the 2011 Winter Classic and a 2017 Stadium Series game. When the NFL Draft came to town on April 23–25, 2026, staged outside the stadium and in Point State Park, it drew a reported record 805,000 people over three days. Leave time for the 40,000-square-foot FedEx Great Hall on the east side, where team history and memorabilia are on display. The Steelers history page lists museum hours.
Frequently asked questions
Which Steelers seats stay out of the sun?
The west sideline keeps the afternoon sun behind you, and many club-level rows sit under the upper-deck overhang. Fan reviews of section 224 report shade for a full game.
Do north end-zone seats at Acrisure Stadium have a good view?
Yes, many fans love them for the skyline framed by the open south end. The trade-off is depth: action at the opposite goal line looks flat from there.
Can I bring an umbrella to a Steelers game?
As of the 2026 season, you can carry one in, but it has to stay closed in the stands. Pack a rain jacket instead.
Was Acrisure Stadium called Heinz Field?
Same building, new name. It debuted as Heinz Field in 2001 and has carried the Acrisure name since 2022.
What is the easiest way to get to the stadium without a car?
Take the T light rail. Allegheny Station has a covered walkway to the stadium, North Side Station is close by, and Gateway Clipper boats cross the river on game days.
How many people does Acrisure Stadium hold?
The listed capacity is 68,400, unchanged since 2015. Concerts can pack in more; Taylor Swift drew 73,117 in June 2023.
