Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
The Blazers seat call, made quickly
For a Portland Trail Blazers game at Moda Center, buy a sideline seat a few rows up in the 100 level if you want the best basketball view, and the lower rows of a 300-level sideline section if you want the best value. Courtside is about atmosphere, the 200 level is about comfort, and the back rows of the 300 level behind the baskets are the seats to avoid unless price is all that matters.
The arena sits in the Rose Quarter, across the Willamette River from downtown Portland. The regular season runs from October into April, with 41 home games.
Moda Center's 100, 200 and 300 levels
Built as the Rose Garden in 1995 and renamed Moda Center in 2013, the arena holds 19,393 for basketball. It is built as two bowls with suites between them.
- 100 level: the front of the lower bowl, wrapping the court from the floor up.
- 200 level: the rear of the lower bowl, with club seating and premium amenities.
- Suites: 70 suites and 8 skyboxes ring the building above the lower bowl.
- 300 level: the upper bowl, above the suite ring.
Exact section numbers and the home bench side are not confirmed here. Use the seat map on your listing to check where a section falls relative to center court.
Choosing a Blazers seat by what matters to you
If you want to be close
Courtside and the first rows of the 100 level carry the highest demand. Sitting at eye level with the players is a thrill, but it compresses depth, so plays on the far side of the court are harder to read.
If you want the clearest view of the game
A middle row on the 100-level sideline is the answer for most fans. A little height shows you spacing and rotations, and you are still near enough to hear the calls.
If you want to save without sitting far away
Lower-bowl seats behind the baskets usually cost less than the sideline at the same distance. You get a great look at the near hoop and a flattened look at the far one, and in the lowest rows the stanchion and backboard can block part of the view.
If you want amenities
The 200 level puts you at a centered height with quieter concourses and club perks. It suits a client night or a fan who would trade proximity for comfort.
If price comes first
The 300 level is the budget tier. Its lower sideline rows show the whole floor for a fraction of lower-bowl cost. The top rows behind the baskets are the weak spot.
One small tip: on a sold-out night, an aisle seat in the lower bowl is worth a little extra, since leaving during play means waiting at the section entrance until a stoppage.
Opponent, weekday, standings: what moves Blazers demand
The NBA year follows the same outline each season: a few preseason games in early October, the 82-game schedule from late October to mid-April, then playoffs from late April through June. Four factors shape demand for a Portland home game, and they stack on top of each other.
- Who is visiting. Lakers and Warriors visits, and any opponent with a national star, bring traveling fans and casual buyers, and those dates tighten first.
- Which night. A Friday or Saturday sells faster than a Monday or Tuesday against the same opponent.
- The calendar. Holiday-week games and giveaway nights fill earlier.
- The race. A late-season playoff push lifts demand quickly, and a home playoff game is the toughest ticket of the year.
Midweek games against Eastern Conference teams usually offer the widest choice of seats. On the resale market, prices for lower-demand games often ease in the last few days, while marquee matchups tend to climb toward tip-off.
MAX, Rose Quarter garages and the 10-inch bag rule
Transit is the easy way in. Three MAX lines, Blue, Green and Red, pull into the Rose Quarter Transit Center beside the building; Yellow Line riders use Interstate/Rose Quarter station a few minutes' walk away. TriMet buses also use the transit center. If you drive, the Rose Quarter operates the Garden, Annex, West Broadway and East Broadway garages plus the small Benton surface lot, and the operator notes that parking often sells out early. Rideshare drivers meet riders outside the east entry along NE Multnomah Street and NE Wheeler Avenue.
As of fall 2026, the Rose Quarter's rules for basketball limit bags to about 10 by 6 by 2 inches, with secondary screening, and medical and childcare bags may be larger. Your ticket lives in the team and arena app only; a screenshot will not scan. Doors for regular-season Blazers games have opened 75 minutes before tip-off. Every order through Reserved Seat is backed by a 100% guarantee. Rules change, so read the Rose Quarter visitor guide before game day.
Blazermania, pregame spots and road trips
Portland crowds have a reputation for noise and staying power. From April 1977 until the team left Memorial Coliseum in 1995, the Blazers sold out 814 straight home games, then the longest streak of its kind in American major professional sports. That run gave the city the word Blazermania, and red and black still dominate the stands. The mascot since 2002 has been Blaze the Trail Cat, a silver mountain lion.
This is not a tailgating scene. Pregame plans usually mean a meal downtown, a stop in the Lloyd District immediately east of the building, or a bar on the river's east bank. On nights when Veterans Memorial Coliseum next door also has an event, the garages and transit center are shared, so allow extra time.
Since the Seattle SuperSonics left for Oklahoma City in 2008, Portland has been the only NBA team in the Pacific Northwest, and its fans come from across Oregon and southwest Washington. The shortest road trips are to Sacramento's Golden 1 Center and the Bay Area's Chase Center.
Rip City milestones
Founder Harry Glickman lobbied for years before the NBA expanded to Portland in 1970, alongside Cleveland and Buffalo. The team name came from a public contest with over 10,000 submissions. That first season also produced the city's nickname: broadcaster Bill Schonely shouted "Rip City" when Jim Barnett hit a long shot against the Lakers.
- 1977: a title in the franchise's seventh season, with Bill Walton as Finals MVP; he was league MVP the next year.
- 1983 to 2003: 21 straight playoff seasons. Only the Lakers, Celtics and Spurs have more total playoff appearances.
- 1990 and 1992: two Finals trips with Clyde Drexler.
- 2000: a 15-point fourth-quarter lead over the Lakers in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals disappeared in a 25 to 4 run.
Paul Allen owned the team from 1988 until his death in 2018; in 2025, his estate's sale of the team to Tom Dundon's group was reported. The city bought the arena in 2024; a five-year bridge lease approved that year keeps the team in place while a longer agreement and renovations are worked out. Number 77 hangs in the rafters for coach Jack Ramsay and the 1977 champions, among 12 retired numbers. Walton, Drexler, Scottie Pippen, Arvydas Sabonis and Drazen Petrovic all played in Portland on their way to the Hall of Fame.
Frequently asked questions

The lower rows of the 300 level along the sideline. They show the whole court for far less than the lower bowl. Avoid the top rows behind the baskets.
Can I show a screenshot of my Blazers ticket?
No. Tickets are mobile only through the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter app, and the arena does not accept screenshots.
Which MAX lines go to Moda Center?
Blue, Green and Red Line trains serve the Rose Quarter Transit Center, right beside the arena. The Yellow Line's Interstate/Rose Quarter station is a short walk.
How big a bag can I carry into a Blazers game?
As of fall 2026, the basketball limit was roughly 10 by 6 by 2 inches, and those bags get a second screening. Confirm the current limit with the Rose Quarter.
What did Moda Center used to be called?
It opened in 1995 as the Rose Garden and was renamed Moda Center in 2013.
Why do fans call Portland Rip City?
Broadcaster Bill Schonely coined it in the team's first season after Jim Barnett made a long shot against the Lakers, and the name stuck to the team and the city.
