Upcoming Dallas Mavericks dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Mavs seating, answered first

For a Dallas Mavericks game, the best seat for the money and the view is a Plaza Level sideline section from about row 6 up. From there you see past the floor seats and the people moving around the benches. If the Plaza is too rich, skip the middle of the Terrace and buy Terrace Preferred, rows E and lower in the 300s near center court, where you walk straight in from the section entrance.

  • Premium experience: courtside seats along the Plaza sidelines.
  • Best view: Plaza sidelines, row 6 and higher.
  • Comfort: the Platinum Club, for lounge access and service at your seat.
  • Budget sweet spot: low Terrace rows in a center-court section like 326.

American Airlines Center holds 19,200 for basketball, and the Mavs play 41 home games across a season that starts in late October and ends in mid-April.

Plaza, Platinum and Terrace explained

Doors first opened on July 17, 2001. The address is 2500 Victory Avenue, in the Victory Park district north of downtown, and the NHL's Dallas Stars are co-tenants. Add standing room and the basketball count reaches about 21,100. The map reads best by level name rather than number.

Plaza Level (100s)

The ring nearest the court. Courtside seats line both sidelines here.

Platinum Club and suites

The upscale layers between the bowls, sold on lounge access and service at your seat.

Terrace Level (300s)

The top ring. RateYourSeats describes roughly 20 lettered rows per section, running from A up to T. The first five, A to E, open directly off the section entrance and sometimes sell as "Terrace Preferred." Anything higher requires an extra staircase, which is worth knowing if you have bad knees or small children in tow.

Bench sections are not published by the arena, so use your listing's seat map to check which sideline you are buying.

Seats to rethink at American Airlines Center

  • Right behind a bench: close to the players, but standing players and staff can fill your view at key moments.
  • Low baseline rows: fine for one end, poor for the other, and the stanchion (the frame that holds the hoop) can block the lowest rows straight behind the basket.
  • High Terrace rows behind the baskets: as far from the floor as the building gets, and you pay for them with that extra flight of stairs.

Better options sit nearby. Plaza corners are the lower bowl's smartest middle ground: you see the whole court on a diagonal and pay less than center court. The Platinum Club is a fair alternative to a middle-row Plaza seat; choose it if amenities matter more to you than being a few rows closer. In the upper bowl, a low Terrace row at center court usually beats a high row anywhere.

Texas rivals and other big Mavs nights

The preseason fills early October. The 82-game schedule, 41 of them in Dallas, starts in late October and wraps in mid-April. Since 2023–24, the NBA Cup has turned a handful of November games, typically on Tuesdays and Fridays, into tournament nights that still count. After the play-in round in mid-April, the postseason can stretch to June.

  • Spurs and Rockets: division rivals from San Antonio and Houston, both within driving range, so road fans turn up in numbers.
  • Miami Heat: the Finals opponent in 2006 and 2011.
  • Star players and contenders: plus homecoming nights for ex-Mavericks.
  • Holidays and weekends: the days around Christmas and New Year's, and most Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Playoffs: home dates go fast, and resale prices shift after each game in a series.

For the deepest selection, shop Monday-to-Thursday games against East opponents during the winter months.

Victory Station, parking and AAC policies

Transit is easy. Victory Station, beside the arena, is a stop for both DART light rail and the Trinity Railway Express commuter trains from Fort Worth. For drivers, Ticketmaster's guide reports upward of 5,000 spaces in the area, a good share of them within a couple of blocks; lots open two hours ahead, and the arena sells parking in advance. Pregame crowds gather on Victory Plaza outside.

The arena's published rules:

  • Bags: a purse, clutch or wristlet is fine if it fits within 14 inches by 14 inches by 6 inches. Leave backpacks and big totes at home. Diaper and medical bags are checked and then allowed.
  • Tickets: phone-based, through the Mavs app or Ticketmaster.
  • Payment: no cash at concessions; Cash-2-Card kiosks on the Plaza Level turn bills into a card.

The arena last revised these rules in 2022, so verify them on the arena's fan safety page before you go. Reserved Seat orders come with guaranteed entry.

Dirk, 2011 and the arena question

Dallas joined the NBA in 1980 and played its first 21 seasons downtown at Reunion Arena before moving to Victory Park in 2001. The new building arrived alongside the rise of Dirk Nowitzki, who played all 21 of his seasons in Dallas and is the face of the franchise. His statue went up outside the arena on Christmas Day 2022.

  • 2006: a first Finals trip, lost to Miami.
  • 2011: the rematch with Miami and the franchise's only title.
  • 2023: Mark Cuban sold majority control to the Adelson and Dumont families and held on to a smaller share.
  • 2024: a third Finals appearance.

The rafters hold five retired jerseys: 12, 15, 22, 24 and Dirk's 41.

The arena's future is open. The current lease ends in 2031. Speaking to FOX 4 in April 2025, the team's CEO said Dallas was searching for land in the city for a new arena district built around basketball, with 2031–32 as the target season. The backup was Irving, near the old Texas Stadium site, as part of a Las Vegas Sands resort plan. No site had been picked as of that report, so check current news. For now, American Airlines Center is where the Mavs play.

Frequently asked questions

What rows count as Terrace Preferred?

Generally row E and lower in the 300-level Terrace sections. You reach them straight from the section entrance, while higher rows need an extra staircase.

Which Plaza Level rows are best for a Mavericks game?

About row 6 and higher on the sidelines. You see over the floor seats and benches and still sit near the action.

Is section 326 a good seat at American Airlines Center?

Its lower rows are. Section 326 is a center-court Terrace section, and its first five rows offer an unobstructed look down the court.

Can I bring a backpack to American Airlines Center?

No. The arena's rules bar backpacks and large totes, though a purse within 14 by 14 by 6 inches is allowed.

Are the Mavericks moving to a new arena?

Not yet. Their lease runs through 2031, and as of April 2025 the team was seeking a new site, with Dallas preferred and Irving as an alternative.

How many titles have the Mavericks won?

A single title, won against Miami in 2011. They also reached the Finals in 2006 and 2024.
