Upcoming Music City Bowl dates
Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
Music City Bowl seats: start on the west sideline
For the Music City Bowl, the seat to buy is on the west sideline of Nissan Stadium, the Tennessee Titans' home side, a few rows above the field. Seating guides place the sections that shade first in an afternoon game around 128–142 in the lower bowl and 225–245 on the club level. Next up is the December 30, 2026 game in Nashville, Tennessee, where a Southeastern Conference (SEC) school meets a Big Ten school.
The east side offers the same view with more sun early in the game. In late December that is glare more than heat, but on a clear afternoon it is the difference between squinting and settling in, which is why the west side usually sells first.
Lower bowl, club towers and the 300s
The stadium debuted on August 27, 1999, under the name Adelphia Coliseum, and every bowl since 1999 has been played there. Its listed capacity is 69,143. A lower bowl wraps the field, and on each sideline a tower holds the club and upper levels, with suites stacked between them. The field is laid out on a rough northwest-southeast line.
- 100 level: the lower bowl. Sideline seats are closest to the benches; mid-rows see over them.
- 200 level: premium club seats in the middle of each tower. A higher angle and club access.
- 300 level: the top of each tower. High, but sideline 300s show the whole field and how plays develop.
East-side sections, around 105–119, 202–222 and 303–321, start the game in sun.
Seats that look better on a map than in person
- Low end zone rows. They seem close, but anything happening past midfield feels remote.
- Upper 300-level corners. As far from the action as you can get here, and chilly after sunset.
- The first rows behind the benches. Players, coaches and staff block your view for long stretches. Moving up a few rows fixes it.
For a family or a group, the sweet spot is a west-side sideline section in the middle third of the lower bowl, or a club seat if you want indoor space between quarters.
Two more judgment calls. First, sit with your own fan base if you care about atmosphere: at most bowls each fan base clusters behind its own team's bench, so check the bowl's seating details once the matchup is set before you lock in a side. Second, a 300-level sideline seat on the west tower is often a better buy than a low end zone seat at a similar price, because the height shows formations, coverages and the full width of the field.
Driving-distance SEC fans and Big Ten travelers
The matchup, set in early December, drives nearly all of the demand. Fans of SEC programs in Tennessee, Kentucky and neighboring states can make it a day trip, and the bowl's record of 69,489 came in 2021 when Purdue played Tennessee. Big Ten fan bases travel well from the Midwest too: the 2025 Illinois–Tennessee game drew 52,815.
- Before selection, listings reflect general interest, not a specific matchup.
- After the announcement, shaded west-side sideline seats move first.
- If you wait, the end zones and upper corners are where seats remain.
- Hotels: the game lands in a heavy travel week for Nashville, so book downtown rooms early, especially if a big fan base is coming.
Reserved Seat orders come with free shipping and no digital transfer fees, handy when entry is by phone.
Three bridges from Lower Broadway
Only the Cumberland River separates the stadium from downtown, so the stroll from Lower Broadway ranks among the simplest bowl commutes anywhere.
- On foot: pick any of three crossings. Woodland Street is the northern option, the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge sits in the center, and Korean Veterans Boulevard is to the south. In 2025, Woodland Street was closed to cars roughly 150 minutes before kickoff and handed over to pedestrians.
- Driving: stadium lots were sold out before the 2025 game. Buy parking ahead, or leave the car downtown and cross on foot.
- Rideshare: 2025 had pickup areas on Interstate Drive and Crutcher Street. Plan on a wait afterward.
- Buses: WeGo Public Transit ran four game-day routes in 2025.
Next door, crews are building a domed replacement that will keep the Nissan Stadium name, with a 2027 target. While that work continues, parking areas and walkways may move; the bowl's game-day guide has the latest.
Gates, clear bags and after the final whistle
In 2025, parking opened four hours ahead and gates two hours ahead. No backpacks or duffels were permitted; any bag larger than a small clutch had to be clear plastic, medical needs excepted. Lot T handled accessible drop-off. These rules are set each season and may change with construction next door, so check the bowl's website before you go.
Afternoon games finish in the dark, and wind off the river makes the top deck feel colder than the forecast, so bring a layer. After the game, the bridges lead straight back to Lower Broadway, the Ryman Auditorium and Bridgestone Arena, part of what makes Nashville such an easy bowl town.
TransPerfect, Liberty Mutual and a long sponsor list
TransPerfect, a translation and language services company, had its name on the game for five seasons, 2020 to 2024. Liberty Mutual Insurance took over as title sponsor in an October 2025 announcement, so the December 2025 edition was played under the Liberty Mutual banner. Many people still search for the TransPerfect version; same bowl, new sponsor. The organizer, Music City Bowl, Inc., calls the game a Nashville holiday fixture dating to 1998 and reports that almost 1.5 million fans attended over its first 27 years.
Earlier title sponsors: American General (1998), homepoint.com (1999), none in 2000 and 2001, Gaylord Hotels for eight years starting in 2002 (Bridgestone added presenting rights for 2003 through 2007) and Franklin American Mortgage from 2010 to 2019.
Vanderbilt Stadium to the east bank: notable Music City Bowls
Virginia Tech beat Alabama 38–7 in the inaugural game, played on Vanderbilt's campus on December 29, 1998; the bowl moved across town to the new east-bank stadium a year later. The SEC has always supplied one team. The other has come from the Big East (1998–2001), the Big Ten (2002–2005), the ACC (2006–2019) and, under the current deal, the Big Ten once more. Kickoff usually falls between December 28 and 31, most recently on December 30.
- 2017: Northwestern edged Kentucky 24–23, the closest finish.
- 2018: Auburn routed Purdue 63–14, the widest margin.
- 2020: the Missouri–Iowa game was called off three days before kickoff after COVID-19 problems within the Missouri team.
- 2021: Purdue outlasted Tennessee 48–45 in overtime before the record crowd.
- 2019: Louisville beat Mississippi State 38–28.
- 2022: Iowa shut out Kentucky 21–0.
- 2023: Maryland handled Auburn 31–13.
- 2024: Missouri and Iowa finally met, and Missouri won 27–24.
- 2025: Illinois held off Tennessee 30–28, with quarterback Luke Altmyer named MVP.
Kentucky has played in the game more than anyone, six times. The new Nissan Stadium is due in 2027, but the sources reviewed do not confirm when the bowl will move into it.
