Gator Bowl Tickets

Main bowl only, about 42,500 seats · Wed., Dec. 30, 2026, 11:30 a.m.

The upper decks are closed for construction, so the 82nd Gator Bowl is a main-bowl-only game: fewer seats, all of them closer to the field.

Upcoming Gator Bowl dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Best Gator Bowl seats this season

Sit on your team's sideline, between the 20-yard lines, in the middle rows of the main bowl. The 82nd TaxSlayer Gator Bowl kicks off Wednesday, December 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. Eastern on ESPN at Bill Gay Grounds at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville. Because the upper decks are closed for renovation this season, every ticket sold is a main-bowl seat, so the choice comes down to which side and which rows.

The bowl assigns sides by conference. In 2025 the SEC team took the west sideline and the ACC team the east, and the bowl typically posts the split in its FAQ. If sitting among your own fans matters, wait for that before you pick.

EverBank under construction: what is open

The Jacksonville Jaguars' home is partway through a rebuild the team calls the Stadium of the Future. Work started in February 2025, with the grand opening scheduled for August 2028. For the 2026 season:

  • Capacity drops to about 42,500. The Jaguars cite 42,465, with roughly 27,308 seats offline, mostly in the 400 level; Wikipedia gives 42,507. The building held about 67,800 before construction.
  • Closed: the Upper Decks, the North End Zone Deck and the Sky Patio.
  • Open: the main bowl, reached by new grand staircases near the West Club gate and Gate 3, with four new breezeways cut into the bowl for airflow.

These details are as of fall 2026. Construction can shift gates and areas, so check the bowl's and the stadium's latest information before you go.

Ranking the open sections

First choice: sideline between the 20s

The best seats available this year and the first to draw demand once the teams are known.

Comfort pick: west-side club

A higher angle down the sideline, entered through the West Club entrance. Good for reading the game and for a late-morning start.

Smart row choice: the middle of the lower level

The front rows sit at field level behind the benches. Ten or more rows up usually shows more of the field.

Value pick: south end zone

With the north end zone deck shut, the south end is the budget option. Expect to lose detail on plays at the far goal line.

For an 11:30 a.m. start in late December, the sun stays low in the southern sky. Jacksonville at that time of year can be mild and bright or cool and damp, so layers are the safe call.

How the reduced capacity affects demand

Take away roughly 27,000 seats and the market behaves differently. In a normal year, the cheap upper-deck seats soak up late buyers. This year they do not exist. If two schools with strong traveling followings are paired, inventory can tighten fast after the announcement.

Matchups follow conference agreements. The 2025 game was SEC against ACC, and recent deals have also included the Big Ten. Those arrangements rotate and get renegotiated, so treat any pairing as unconfirmed until teams are named after the playoff field is set in early December.

Gate times, mobile tickets and parking

The bowl's FAQ for the 2025 game listed the following. Use it as a guide and confirm current details, since construction can move lots and entrances.

  • Lots opened about five hours ahead of kickoff; stadium gates about two hours ahead.
  • Tickets were mobile only, so download yours before arriving. Anyone 24 months or older needed a ticket.
  • Postgame rideshare pickup was on Beaver Street.
  • Accessible drop-off was available on both the east and west sides.
  • Payments are cashless; Guest Services at Section 123 turns cash into a payment card.

The 2027 detour to Gainesville

According to the Jaguars, the following season's game will be played in Gainesville, then return to the finished Jacksonville stadium for the December 2028 or January 2029 game. Bowl president Greg McGarity has said the event needs a stadium with at least 40,000 seats that suits a national broadcast. The game has made this trip before: when Gator Bowl Stadium was rebuilt into today's stadium, the December 1994 edition moved to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, and Jacksonville got it back in January 1996.

Since 1946: games and sponsors

Gator Bowl Sports, once called the Gator Bowl Association, has staged the game every year since its debut, which makes it the sixth-oldest bowl. Wake Forest won the first one 26–14 over South Carolina on New Year's Day 1946 at Fairfield Stadium, with 7,362 in the stands. Gator Bowl Stadium hosted from 1948 until 1993.

  • 1978: Ohio State's Woody Hayes hit Clemson's Charlie Bauman on the sideline, the act that ended his coaching career.
  • New Year's Day 2010: Florida State over West Virginia, 33–21, before a record 84,129.
  • January 2020: Tennessee slipped past Indiana by one point, 23–22.
  • December 2022: Notre Dame outscored South Carolina 45–38 with 67,383 watching.
  • December 2023: Clemson held on against Kentucky, 38–35.
  • January 2, 2025: Ole Miss rolled past Duke by 32 points, 52–20.
  • December 2025: Virginia edged Missouri 13–7 to cap a 10-win season.

Sponsors over the decades: Mazda (1986 to 1991), Outback Steakhouse (1992 to 1994), Toyota (1995 to 2007), Konica Minolta (2008 to 2010), Progressive (2011) and TaxSlayer since 2012. Under TaxSlayer the name went from TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl to TaxSlayer Bowl for 2014 through 2017, then to TaxSlayer Gator Bowl from 2018.
