Albertsons Stadium seats: what to buy first
At a Boise State game, a sideline seat in either upper deck is the pick most fans underrate. From up there the blue field and the white lines read like a diagram, and you can follow every route and blocking scheme. If you would rather be close, choose the lower deck between the 30-yard lines, in the middle rows. Home is Albertsons Stadium on the university's Boise, Idaho, campus, with a home slate that begins in late August or early September and wraps up in November.
- Most complete view: upper-deck sideline.
- Closest good view: lower sideline, middle rows, between the 30s.
- Most affordable: end zone bleachers, mostly benches.
- Premium: the Stueckle Sky Club on the west side, with suites, loge boxes and club seats.
Two decks, wrapped corners and bleacher ends
The playing field is oriented north–south, with a lower and an upper deck along each sideline. The tallest piece is on the west: the Stueckle Sky Club, added in 2008, which holds the press box plus suites, loges and club seating. On the south end, the lower grandstand wraps the two corners, and each end zone is lined with bleachers. The 2012 expansion set the listed capacity at 36,387; elsewhere the school uses a rounder 37,000.
Trade-offs by area
- Front rows on the sideline: the benches take over the near side of the field. A seat 10 to 20 rows up sees more.
- South corners: a decent angle on the near end zone and a cheaper alternative to the sideline.
- End zone bleachers: the lowest cost and closest to scoring plays, but you sit on a bench and the opposite goal line looks a long way off.
Sun and cold
On day games, the afternoon sun sits in the western sky. That puts it behind the west sideline and in the eyes of everyone on the east sideline. September in Boise is dry and bright, so the difference is real. Late in the season, night kickoffs remove the glare but get cold fast; dress for the fourth quarter, not the first.
Matchups that empty the box office
Albertsons Stadium is smaller than most stadiums at this level, so a high-profile opponent can wipe out public inventory quickly.
- Fresno State: the two schools play for the Milk Can, a series that has been regular since 2001 and stays annual in the Pac-12.
- Washington State: the Snake River Rivalry, new in 2024. That first meeting drew 37,711, the largest crowd in stadium history.
- Nevada: a long conference series remembered for Boise State's 69–67 four-overtime win in 2007.
- Idaho: the former in-state rivalry has been dormant since 2010, with nothing on future schedules.
A visitor from a power conference, any ranked opponent and a night kickoff push demand up. September games against lighter opponents are the simplest tickets to land. The 2026 move to the rebuilt Pac-12 brings in a new set of league opponents; for nearby programs, see Oregon Ducks Football and Washington Huskies Football.
Seeing the Blue in person
Many visitors come for the field itself. Boise State put down blue turf in 1986, christening it by beating Humboldt State 74–0. No football field anywhere had been anything but green, and no other top-division program had one until 2014. Locals simply say "the Blue," and the university owns a trademark covering non-green fields, which it licenses. The often-repeated story that the NCAA banned colored fields is not true.
- Home dominance: a 151–16 record on the Blue from 1999 to the 2024 league title game, including a run of 65 regular-season home wins in a row from 2001 to 2011.
- New for 2026: Kellen Moore now stands outside the stadium as an 11-foot bronze statue, and the field's hash marks are painted orange in tribute to Moore and Ashton Jeanty.
- December football: a postseason game has been played here every year since 1997; today it is the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
Parking, tailgating and entry procedures change from season to season. Check Boise State football's site before you travel. As of the 2026 season, Albertsons Stadium operates under a clear-bag rule with a list of banned items; expect to carry a see-through bag that meets the posted size limit.
Season tickets, donors and resale for Boise State
Tickets come in three forms: full season, single game and student. The prime sideline locations go first to season-ticket holders who give to the Bronco Athletic Association (the department's booster and fundraising group), and students draw from their own pool.
A smaller stadium means fewer seats to go around when a marquee opponent visits, so resale carries most of the demand for those games. Big-game prices usually rise as kickoff nears, and a matchup of two ranked teams climbs fastest, while early nonconference dates are where the value is. Each Reserved Seat purchase comes with a 100% guarantee.
How a junior college became a Playoff team
The program dates to 1933, when the school was a junior college; it won that level's national championship in 1958 and the Division I-AA crown in 1980. Promotion to Division I-A came in 1996, followed by WAC membership, the Mountain West from 2011 and the Pac-12 beginning in 2026. The stadium, first called Bronco Stadium, opened in 1970 on the campus's east side, bounded by Broadway Avenue, University Drive and the Boise River; Albertsons acquired the naming rights in 2014.
- 2007 Fiesta Bowl: an upset of Oklahoma finished an unbeaten 2006 season and made the Broncos a national story.
- 2010 Fiesta Bowl: beating TCU capped a perfect 14–0 year.
- 2008 to 2011: Kellen Moore went 50–3 as a starter, the most wins by an FBS quarterback at the time.
- 2014 season: a third Fiesta Bowl win.
- 2024: the Broncos won the Mountain West, earned the Playoff's No. 3 seed and met Penn State in a Fiesta Bowl quarterfinal.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best seat for seeing the Blue at a Boise State game?
An upper-deck sideline seat. The height makes the blue field and its markings easy to read and shows every route and formation.
Are the end zone seats at Albertsons Stadium bleachers?
Mostly, yes. Both ends are lined with bleachers, so plan on a bench and a long look toward the opposite goal line.
Which sideline faces the sun at Boise State day games?
The east sideline. With a north–south field, the afternoon sun sets behind the west stands and shines on east-side fans.
Why do some Boise State games sell out so quickly?
With roughly 36,400 seats, the stadium is compact for a top-division program, so a power-conference visitor or a ranked opponent can exhaust the public supply fast.
Is it true the NCAA banned colored fields because of Boise State?
No. There is no NCAA rule on field color. The school does own a trademark on non-green fields, which it licenses.
Which conference does Boise State play in?
The rebuilt Pac-12, starting in 2026, following the WAC years and a Mountain West run that began in 2011.
