Upcoming Formula 1 dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Your F1 seat decision at a glance

At a Formula 1 race, no single seat sees the whole lap, so you are choosing which part of the race you want to own. Sit at the start/finish line for the launch, the pit stops and the podium. Sit at the end of a long straight for overtaking. Buy general admission (GA, a grounds pass with no assigned seat) if you would rather roam and see several corners over a weekend.

For the three US races in 2027, the short version is this:

  • Austin, October 22 to 24: Turn 1 at Circuit of the Americas, where the field brakes at the top of a steep hill on lap one.
  • Miami, April 30 to May 2: Turn 18 or the Marina stands for passing; Start/Finish for the beginning and end of the race.
  • Las Vegas, November 18 to 20: a stand near the pit building for the start and finish, or one on the Strip straight for raw speed. Every session runs at night.

The United States is the only country with more than one round on the 24-race 2027 calendar.

GA, grandstand, club or Paddock Club

Nearly every Grand Prix sells the same four tiers, and nearly every resale listing fits one of them. Identify the tier before you look at anything else.

  • General admission: grounds access from grass banks, standing areas or viewing platforms. It is the most affordable way in and the most flexible, but expect long hours on your feet, early competition for the prime spots and, on race day, a partial view at best. In Miami the GA product is called the Campus Pass, and in Austin it comes as a 3-day wristband.
  • Grandstand: your own numbered seat in one stand, normally valid Friday through Sunday. Stands are named for the corners in front of them, so Turn 1 means Turn 1. A few promoters offer single days too, Miami sells a Grandstand Pass that moves you to a different stand each day, and Miami and Austin offer team grandstands where one team's fans sit together.
  • Club and hospitality: promoter-run lounges with food, drinks, shade and usually a better seat. Names and inclusions differ widely by race.
  • Paddock Club: Formula 1's own top hospitality tier, located beside the team garages and pit lane and sold only as a full weekend. It is the most expensive way to attend. For 2027 Miami put its Paddock Club on public sale for the first time.

Before you buy, check three details in the listing: the number of days, whether it is GA or a reserved seat, and the exact grandstand.

Miami International Autodrome stands, corner by corner

The Miami circuit is a temporary 3.36-mile, 19-turn layout built through the grounds and parking lots around Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Crews assemble it in the weeks before the race and take it down afterward. According to the promoter, the first five editions sold out, and the race is under contract through 2041.

The 2027 grandstands, from most to least useful for a racing fan:

  • Turn 18 Grandstand (Turns 17 to 19): cars arrive here off one of the fastest straights on the lap and brake hard. The promoter names it one of the two prime overtaking spots.
  • Marina Grandstands (Turns 6 to 8): the other prime passing zone, in the Marina section.
  • Start/Finish Grandstand: the grid, pit lane and the start. Pick it for the opening seconds and the finish.
  • Turn 1 Grandstand (Turns 1 to 3): the funnel where the field squeezes together on lap one.
  • Beach Grandstands, North and South (Turns 11 and 12): a slower part of the lap, livened up by performances on the trackside video boards.
  • Team grandstands: eight teams have their own fan sections for 2027, a good fit if you want to sit among supporters of one team.

Campus Pass holders get the fan zone, trackside decks and a look into the team village, without a seat of their own. Any Miami ticket also lets you up into the 300 level of Hard Rock Stadium, a high perch with a wide view across the circuit and a smart place to watch a few laps.

As of the 2026 event, the circuit is cashless and discourages bags; the exceptions are a transparent bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches or a small clutch within 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Brightline trains stop at Aventura Station, with a free shuttle to the track, and rideshare runs through off-site lots with free shuttles. Review the Miami Grand Prix FAQ before race weekend.

Circuit of the Americas: Turn 1 and the alternatives

Circuit of the Americas (COTA), east of Austin, is a permanent track that opened in 2012. The Grand Prix layout runs counterclockwise for 3.426 miles and 20 turns. Its defining feature is Turn 1, nicknamed Big Red: a tight left-hander at the top of an uphill run from the grid, on a slope of more than 11 percent. The venue cites total capacity of about 120,000, about 9,000 of them in the Main Grandstand, and Austin holds the race under contract to 2034.

The stands

  • Turn 1: the seat most fans want. You look down the hill at the whole field braking for one corner, and the race often reshuffles right there on the opening lap.
  • Main Grandstand: on the start/finish straight, opposite the pits and grid.
  • Turn 4: the start of the quick, flowing esses after Turn 1.
  • Turn 12: where the long back straight ends and drivers stamp on the brakes, the most natural place to pass.
  • Turn 15: in the slower stadium section that follows.

Roaming with GA

GA is sold for one day or all three, and the GA areas ring the circuit, which lets you watch from the hill at Turn 1 early and move to the back straight later. Collapsible chairs are allowed, and collapsible wagons are permitted in GA areas.

Concerts and a fourth day

When the cars stop each evening, a headline act takes the stage, so the weekend works as a concert series too. For 2026 COTA added Grand PrixView Thursday, with F1 Academy on track and pit lane walks. Weekend attendance peaked at nearly 270,000 in 2016.

As of the 2026 event, bags may be up to 12 by 12 by 20 inches, coolers are prohibited, small hand-held umbrellas are fine and re-entry is allowed. Parking costs extra; the alternative is a shuttle from Downtown Austin or from the Travis County Expo Center. Accessible seating is in the Main Grandstand and at Turns 12 and 15. See COTA's venue policies for current rules.

Las Vegas Strip Circuit: night race viewing choices

Las Vegas races on public roads: 3.853 miles and 17 corners, driven counterclockwise. The pits and paddock are housed in a permanent structure, built on what used to be a parking lot close to the corner of Harmon Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard. The lap climbs Koval Lane, loops around the Sphere, follows Sands Avenue and then turns south onto the Strip for roughly 1.2 miles at full throttle in front of the Venetian, Caesars Palace, the Bellagio and the Cosmopolitan. The race is under agreement through 2037.

Pit building or Strip straight

  • Near the pit building: the start, pit stops and finish. The choice for most first-timers.
  • Along the Strip: cars at their fastest, passing 220 mph by the end of the straight, with the casino fronts as a backdrop.
  • General admission: sold as a set of viewing platforms as of the 2024 event, not open lawns. Fences and barriers line a street circuit, so expect a narrower view than at COTA.
  • Partner venues and Paddock Club: Strip properties sell their own viewing packages, and the Paddock Club sits at the top.

The night schedule

For 2027, track action fills three nights from November 18 to 20: practice Thursday, final practice and qualifying Friday, and the race Saturday night. Lights out in 2025 came at 8 p.m. Pacific time. Formula 1 warns that November nights can fall to around 50 degrees Fahrenheit, so bring layers. Many hotels are within walking distance, but closed streets and limited track crossings turn short walks into long ones, especially after the checkered flag.

Demand, days and race weekend habits

Four forces move F1 ticket demand:

  • Position on the track. Start/finish and first-corner stands sell first because they cover the start, the stops and the podium.
  • The day. Sunday-only tickets outsell Friday, and a 3-day seat in a popular stand is usually the hardest item to find.
  • The title race. A tight championship lifts demand for Austin and Las Vegas late in the season.
  • Entertainment. Austin's concerts and Miami's campus draw casual fans as well as racing devotees.

A standard weekend has two practice sessions Friday, a third practice and qualifying Saturday, and the race Sunday, a day earlier in Las Vegas. Sprint weekends compress practice and add a short Saturday race, but none of the three US races is on the 2027 sprint list. Between F1 sessions, junior series like Formula 2 and F1 Academy take the track.

  • Protect your ears, especially children's.
  • Wear walking shoes. GA fans can cover several miles a day.
  • Face a video board and keep the timing app open, since any one seat shows only part of the lap.
  • Go for more than Sunday if you can. Friday and Saturday are quieter, and qualifying often shapes the race.

Reserved Seat backs every order with a 100% guarantee, which matters when flights and hotels are booked months out.

American Grands Prix, from Savannah to the Strip

Formula 1 sits at the top of open-wheel, single-seat road racing. The FIA writes and enforces the rules, while the Formula One Group runs the business side. Its world championship began in 1950. Liberty Media bought the commercial rights in 2017, and the new ownership added Miami (first raced in 2022) and Las Vegas (2023) to Austin, which has hosted since 2012.

The United States Grand Prix itself is far older than the championship: its first edition, the 1908 American Grand Prize, was held in Savannah, Georgia. Over the decades it wandered through ten host sites, Watkins Glen, Phoenix and Indianapolis among them, until COTA took over. Other American rounds have come and gone: the United States Grand Prix West at Long Beach (1976 to 1983), the Caesars Palace Grand Prix in Las Vegas (1981 and 1982), the Detroit Grand Prix (1982 to 1988) and a single race in Dallas in 1984.

The modern Las Vegas race began badly. During opening practice in 2023, a loose drain cover tore into Carlos Sainz's car, and the second session was pushed into the small hours, after spectators had already been cleared out. Max Verstappen won that race and again in 2025, with George Russell winning in 2024. Apple took over US television rights in 2026 on a five-year deal after ESPN's run. Fans planning a trip abroad can compare the street-circuit experience with the Monaco Grand Prix, and open-wheel fans at home often pair a Grand Prix with the Indianapolis 500.

Frequently asked questions

Is general admission worth it at an F1 race?

It suits fans who want to move around and see several corners over a weekend. You will stand a lot, the best spots fill early, and on race day you may see only part of the track.

Where is the Paddock Club?

Right beside the team garages and pit lane. It is the premium hospitality product Formula 1 runs itself, sold for the whole weekend.

What are the 2027 dates for the US Grands Prix?

Miami runs April 30 to May 2, Austin runs October 22 to 24, and Las Vegas runs November 18 to 20, with the Las Vegas race on Saturday night.

Which Miami grandstand is best for overtaking?

The promoter names Turn 18 and the Marina Grandstands as the prime overtaking locations. Start/Finish is the choice for the start and the podium.

What should you wear to the Las Vegas Grand Prix?

Layers. All sessions run at night, and Formula 1 notes that November temperatures can fall to around 50 degrees Fahrenheit after dark.

Do Miami tickets include Hard Rock Stadium?

Yes. As announced for 2027, every Miami Grand Prix ticket includes access to the campus and the 300 level of Hard Rock Stadium, which overlooks the circuit.
