Bench side or the clean sideline across from it? At Target Center that one choice shapes the night. Settle it before you reserve Timberwolves seats.

Upcoming Minnesota Timberwolves dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

Bench side or clean side: the first Wolves decision

The best seats for a Minnesota Timberwolves game at Target Center are the lower-level sideline sections 110–112 and 130–132, from about row 5 up. Row 5 is roughly where you clear the benches and the scorer's table. The real choice is which sideline.

  • The 130s sit on the bench side. Seating guides put the Wolves bench in front of sections 132 and 133 and the visitors in front of 129 and 130, so you see huddles, substitutions and the coaches at work.
  • The 110s face the benches from across the floor, which frames the whole court with nothing in your way.

On a budget, the front rows of the upper-level sidelines are the best buy. Avoid low baseline rows and the back rows of the upper corners. The 41-game home schedule runs late October to mid-April, with playoffs that can reach June.

How Target Center is laid out

The arena at 600 First Avenue North, facing Target Field from the other side of the street, first opened its doors on October 13, 1990. Its basketball listing is 18,798. Two upgrades shaped what you sit in today: new seats throughout and a reworked lower bowl in 2004, then a roughly 140 million rebuild, completed in October 2017, of the facade, concourses, seats and technology. The WNBA's Minnesota Lynx play here in summer.

  • Courtside: floor-level rows along both sidelines.
  • Lower level: sections in the 100s circling the floor. Within a section, seats count upward as you move around the bowl; seat 1 in section 111, for instance, is on the aisle next to section 110.
  • Upper level: the second deck, where most budget seats are.
  • Suites and clubs: including the Terrace, a casino-sponsored club perched above section 121 on the baseline.

Wheelchair-accessible rows sit at the top of most sections, according to seating guides, and companion chairs fold out beside them. Check the map attached to your listing before you buy.

Section-by-section picks for a Wolves game

Lower sideline

Sections 110–112 and 130–132, row 5 and up, are the reference seats. Go bench side for the human drama, opposite for the cleanest picture of the floor.

Lower baseline

Close to one basket, and fine for warmups and free throws. The front rows peer past the basket support, and the opposite end loses depth.

The Terrace club

Perched over section 121, it packages food, drinks, parking and a private entrance. Good for groups and client evenings, but you are watching from behind a basket, and play at the opposite end is tough to judge.

Upper sideline

The first rows show spacing and transition clearly, and the gap in demand compared with the lower level is usually wide. This is the value seat.

Seats to skip

  • The highest rows in the upper corners, unless price is all that matters.
  • The lowest baseline rows, for the obstructed far-end view.

Wolves games with the hottest demand

The NBA calendar opens with October preseason games, then an 82-game regular season through mid-April, with NBA Cup group play in late fall counting toward the record. The play-in round comes next, followed by four rounds of playoffs into June.

  • The Denver Nuggets. Minnesota beat the defending champions in seven games in 2024, rallying from 20 points down in Game 7, the largest Game 7 comeback in playoff history.
  • Dallas and Oklahoma City. The Dallas Mavericks ended the 2024 run in the West finals, and the Oklahoma City Thunder did the same in 2025.
  • Headline stars. The league's biggest names pull casual fans, and lower-sideline demand rises first.
  • End-of-week and holiday dates. Friday and Saturday games outpace Monday through Wednesday.
  • The playoffs. Each round raises demand, and the market firms up as soon as the matchup is set.

The simplest ticket of the year is usually a January weeknight against an Eastern Conference club with nothing to play for. Every Reserved Seat order carries a 100% guarantee.

Getting in without going outside

Target Center hooks into the downtown skyways (glassed-in walkways one floor above the street that link buildings), so if you park in a connected ramp or stay in a connected hotel, you can reach your seat without stepping into a Minneapolis January. Light rail stops one block over at Warehouse District/Hennepin Avenue, served by both the Blue and Green lines, so the airport, Mall of America and downtown St. Paul are all direct rides.

Drivers have close to 25,000 spaces across 38 downtown lots and ramps; the arena suggests Ramps A and B, which offer elevator and skyway-level access. The accessible drop-off point is the corner of First Avenue and Sixth Street. For food and drinks, the North Loop and Hennepin Avenue are both walkable. The same downtown also holds U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, while the Minnesota Twins play across the street at Target Field.

Posted rules as of fall 2026; confirm in the arena's guest guide:

  • Bags: 5 by 9 inches or smaller, about a clutch, with diaper-bag and medical exceptions. No strollers.
  • Doors: general ticket holders use the main skyway entrance; those with floor seats enter through the lobby.
  • Tickets: digital, in the AXS or Ticketmaster app.
  • Payment and exits: cashless concessions and no re-entry.

Metrodome crowds, Garnett and the 2024 breakthrough

Harvey Ratner and Marv Wolfenson won the expansion franchise in 1987, and the first season tipped off in the fall of 1989 with a road loss in Seattle. The home opener, a November 8 loss to the Chicago Bulls, was played under the roof of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, and the crowds never let up: the Wolves passed one million fans that winter, a league attendance record. A year later they moved into Target Center.

  • Kevin Garnett. Drafted in 1995 straight from high school, he won the 2004 MVP and led a 58-win team to the first division title and the West finals, lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
  • The drought. Garnett was traded to Boston in 2007, and the Wolves missed the playoffs until 2018, a 14-year gap. They went out in the first round in both 2022 and 2023.
  • 2024. A 4–0 first-round win over the Phoenix Suns ended a 20-year wait for a series victory and was the first sweep ever by a Minnesota men's pro team. The Denver comeback came next.
  • 2025. A third conference finals appearance.

The franchise has not yet reached the NBA Finals. Glen Taylor's long ownership ended in 2025, when the sale of the team and the Lynx to Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez was finalized. Rosters change each season, so check the team's site before you buy around one player.

Frequently asked questions

Which sideline is the Timberwolves bench on?

According to seating guides, the home bench is at sections 132–133 and the visitors sit at 129–130. Sections 110–112 look at both from across the court.

Is the baseline club at Target Center a good seat?

It is comfortable, with food, drinks, parking and a private entrance, but it hangs over section 121 behind a basket, so the far end is harder to follow.

Can I bring a purse to a Wolves game?

Only a small one. The fall 2026 limit is 5 by 9 inches, though diaper and medical bags are exempt; strollers stay outside. Confirm on the arena's site first.

Can I reach Target Center through the skyway?

Yes. The building is linked to the skyway network, and Ramps A and B let you enter at skyway level.

Which light rail station is nearest Target Center?

Warehouse District/Hennepin Avenue, one block away, served by both the Blue and Green lines.

Where did the Timberwolves play their first season?

Under the Metrodome roof in 1989–90, where attendance topped one million for a league record. They moved to Target Center a year later.
