The Eagles seat question, answered fast

For most Eagles fans, the right seat at Lincoln Financial Field is on the west sideline, behind the Eagles bench, between the 30-yard lines. If that is out of reach, an upper-level sideline seat is a smarter buy than a low row in the end zone. The stadium seats 67,594 and has no roof, so the side you choose also decides how much sun and wind you get.

Three quick rules cover most buyers:

  • Home fans: sit on the west side, sections 101–104 and 137–138, with 101–102 at midfield.
  • Visiting fans: sit on the east side, sections 118–123 downstairs or 223–228 upstairs, where road fans tend to cluster.
  • Value hunters: buy height on the sideline rather than closeness behind the goal posts.

The regular season runs from September into early January, with preseason games in August.

Lower bowl, club tier and the 200s compared

The Linc stacks three main tiers. Knowing what each one gives up helps you decide quickly.

Lower level (sections 101–138)

This is the closest you can get to the players. Midfield rows on the west side put you behind the Eagles bench, and the Firstrust Bank Club sits at section 101, right behind it. The trade-off in the end zones is depth: low rows behind the goal line feel close, but plays at the far end of the field flatten out and become hard to read.

Club level (sections C1–C40)

The club tier (the middle ring of padded seats with indoor lounge access) sits at an ideal height for watching a play unfold, from the snap to the route combinations downfield.

Upper level (sections 201–244)

The 200s are the least expensive tier and often the loudest. A sideline seat here, between the 30s, shows the whole field like a coaching tape. One caution: the top rows of some east-side upper sections, such as section 122 from about row 29 up, sit beneath an overhang. The roof edge keeps rain off you, but it also cuts off high punts and the video boards.

Sun, wind and wearing the wrong jersey

Lincoln Financial Field runs north to south. That means the east-side seats face west, into the afternoon sun, and the east side is also the visitor sideline. In September, a 1 p.m. kickoff on the east side can mean squinting and sweating for three hours, so the west side behind the Eagles bench is the more comfortable pick. By December, the logic flips: the sunny east side is the warmer place to be, and wind off the open ends makes the shaded rows feel colder.

Visiting fans should think about atmosphere as well as angles. Philadelphia crowds are partisan and loud, and a road jersey draws comments. You will have an easier afternoon on the east sideline, surrounded by other fans of your team.

Opponents and kickoff slots that sell out first

The Eagles host eight or nine regular-season games a year. These are the dates where you will compete hardest for seats:

  • Dallas: the Cowboys game tops the list most seasons, because Dallas fans travel from all over the country to buy in.
  • New York and Washington: the Giants and Commanders are a drive or a train ride away, so their fans fill the east side.
  • Night games: Sunday, Monday and Thursday night kickoffs bring a national audience and a louder building.
  • Big-name opponents: recent playoff foes and teams with national followings pull extra buyers.
  • The postseason: the Linc hosted the NFC Championship Game in January 2025, a 55–23 Eagles win. Playoff seats go on sale only days before kickoff, so be ready to move fast.

If your dates are flexible, preseason games and early non-division matchups give you the most choice. When the team is contending, resale prices tend to rise from November on.

Broad Street, the lots and the gates

The stadium sits at the south end of Broad Street in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, next to Interstate 95. The easiest trip is SEPTA's Broad Street subway line to NRG Station, a short walk from the gates. SEPTA buses 4 and 17 also stop at the complex.

Here is what to plan for, based on the stadium's posted guide as of the 2025 season:

  • Tailgating: lots open about four and a half hours before kickoff. Grills are allowed in Lots A–G and M, N and P, but not in Lots Q–W, north of Pattison Avenue and west of Darien Street.
  • Gate times: Pepsi Plaza opens about three hours before kickoff, clubs and suites about two hours before, and the main gates about 90 minutes before.
  • Bags: a clear bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag, or a small clutch about 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
  • House rules: the stadium is cashless and smoke-free (e-cigarettes included), and there is no re-entry.

From the Baker Bowl to two Lombardi Trophies

Bert Bell and Lud Wray founded the franchise on July 8, 1933. Jeffrey Lurie has owned the team since 1994. The Eagles moved through the Baker Bowl, Shibe Park (later Connie Mack Stadium), Franklin Field and Veterans Stadium, where they played from 1971 through 2002, before the Linc opened in August 2003.

The trophy case holds NFL championships from 1948, 1949 and 1960, plus two Super Bowls. The first was Super Bowl LII, a 41–33 win over the New England Patriots after the 2017 season. The second was Super Bowl LIX, a 40–22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans on February 9, 2025.

A few moments every Eagles fan knows:

  • 1943: a one-season wartime merger with Pittsburgh produced the team nicknamed the Steagles.
  • 1978: Herman Edwards returned a fumble for a touchdown against the Giants, the play remembered as the Miracle at the Meadowlands.
  • Super Bowl LII: the trick-play touchdown known as the Philly Special.

The team plays in the NFC East, and its rivalry with Dallas dates to their first meeting in 1960. Expect to hear the fight song, Fly, Eagles Fly, after every home score. Team news is at philadelphiaeagles.com.
