Upcoming Wake Forest Demon Deacons Football dates
Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
The Deacons seat call in one minute
For a Wake Forest Demon Deacons Football game, buy a sideline seat between the 30-yard lines, a handful of rows up from the field. The home stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, seats 31,500, so you are close to the action from nearly any sideline row; going a few rows up simply clears the benches and the people standing in front of them.
- Best overall: mid-level sideline rows near midfield.
- Best for families on a budget: Deacon Hill, the grass general-admission berm.
- Best for comfort and premium service: seats tied to Deacon Tower, the press box and premium structure.
- Least useful: the very first rows, where the near sideline is partly hidden.
The home slate runs from the end of August or the start of September to the end of November, mostly on Saturdays with the occasional televised weeknight. Wake Forest is an ACC charter member, in the league since play began in 1953.
Two bowed grandstands and an open-ended field
The stadium opened in 1968 and is built simply: two curved sideline grandstands, nothing enclosing either end. Three rounds of work (1996, 2005–2008 and 2011) delivered Deacon Tower, which opened in 2008, an artificial FieldTurf surface put down in 2006 and a replacement scoreboard.
Watch the name on your ticket. It opened as Groves Stadium and kept that name until 2007, then became BB&T Field, then Truist Field, and has been Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium since June 2023. To add a wrinkle, the school's 2026 gameday guide uses Allegacy Financial Stadium, so maps, listings and signs may not agree. Whatever the label, the address is 411 Deacon Boulevard, next to the school's baseball park.
Sun and heat
Much of the seating has no cover. An early-season afternoon game in North Carolina is often hot and humid, so bring sun protection and water for a day kickoff. Late-season night games can turn cool. The field's compass orientation is not documented in the sources for this page, so there is no reliable shade side to recommend; plan for sun wherever you sit at a day game.
Deacon Hill: who it suits and who it does not
Behind the southeast end zone sits Deacon Hill, a sloped lawn sold as general admission. The athletics department lists it as sections 11 and 12, entered through Gate 5. Students use Gate 4.
- It suits: families with kids who need space to move, groups who want to spread a blanket, and fans who care more about the afternoon than the play-by-play.
- It does not suit: anyone who wants a seatback, or anyone hoping to follow action at the far end. From a low, flat angle behind one goal line, the opposite end zone is hard to read.
A simple rule: if you will watch every snap, buy a reserved sideline seat. If the game is part of a day out, the Hill is a fine way in.
Tobacco Road dates and other Wake Forest sellout risks
A small stadium means a popular opponent can soak up public inventory quickly. These home games carry the most risk of a tight market:
- North Carolina, Duke and NC State: the three in-state Tobacco Road schools, each within easy driving distance. Each leads its series with Wake Forest, and visiting fans travel easily, which adds demand on both sides of the aisle.
- Clemson: a long-standing ACC opponent with a fan base that travels in numbers.
- Virginia Tech: paired with Wake Forest as an annual opponent in the ACC's 2023 scheduling model, with Blacksburg close enough for a road trip.
Add a ranking on either side or a night kickoff and supply gets thinner still. September non-conference dates are where you will find the widest choice of seats.
How a 31,500-seat stadium changes the buying math
The athletics ticket office handles season plans, single games and groups. Athletics-fund donors generally get first claim on the best season locations and parking, and students use their own allotment.
With so few seats, North Carolina, Clemson or a ranked visitor can exhaust public inventory well before kickoff, and resale becomes the main route in. On the resale side, three things move prices most: who the visitor is, when the game kicks off and how good the Deacons look that fall.
- Highest demand: midfield sideline seats and Deacon Tower premium seating.
- Lower demand: corner seats and Deacon Hill general admission.
For a rivalry date, settle on a section early rather than waiting for a late drop that may not come. Every Reserved Seat order is backed by a 100% guarantee.
Remote lots, shuttles and the clear-bag rule
These are the gameday rules published for the 2026 season. Rules change, so check the Wake Forest football gameday page before you go.
- Bags: one clear bag no bigger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches (plastic, vinyl or PVC), or a gallon-size clear freezer bag, and a hand-size clutch of roughly 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
- Gates: general gates open an hour and a half before kickoff; ticket holders for McCreary Tower and Bridger Field House can enter those spaces 30 minutes earlier.
- Payment: concession stands are cashless.
- Parking: paid lots ring the stadium and open at 7 a.m. To skip the fee, use the remote lots at 2400 Reynolda Road or 3730 University Parkway; shuttles from both are free and begin running two hours ahead of kickoff.
- Mobility help: golf carts ferry fans who have trouble walking, including older and injured fans, between the parking areas and the gates.
- Tailgating: kegs are permitted, glass is not, and whoever supplies the alcohol is responsible for keeping drinking in check.
If you walk in, the Grounds trail by the stadium is open from three hours before kickoff until an hour and a half after the final whistle.
Rolling the Quad, Brian Piccolo and two ACC crowns
The best-known Deacons ritual happens only when they win. Going back to the 1950s, students have rolled the Quad, throwing toilet paper over the trees in the heart of campus, with extra gusto after beating a Tobacco Road rival. Stay in town after a home win and it is worth a walk over that night.
Football at Wake Forest dates to 1888, decades before the school relocated from its namesake town to Winston-Salem in 1956. The nickname comes from a sportswriter's 1923 account of a victory against Duke, which said the Deacons fought like demons.
The program owns two ACC titles. The first came in 1970, when the Deacons finished first at 5–1 in league play. The second, under Jim Grobe in 2006, ended a 36-year wait: an 11–2 season and a trip to the Orange Bowl. Bill Dooley's 1992 team finished 8–4, won the Independence Bowl and closed the year at No. 25. The 2021 team opened 8–0, a first for the program, and won the ACC Atlantic Division. The most famous Deacon is probably Brian Piccolo, ACC Player of the Year in 1964, whose life inspired Brian's Song. In the postseason, Wake Forest holds a 12–6 bowl record.
Frequently asked questions
What is the stadium called on Wake Forest football tickets?
Since June 2023 it has been Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium, though the school's 2026 gameday guide shortens it to Allegacy Financial Stadium. Older listings may still say Truist Field, BB&T Field or Groves Stadium.
Is Deacon Hill a good seat?
It is a good choice for families and casual fans who want space, but it has no seatbacks and a poor view of the far end zone. The athletics department lists it as sections 11 and 12, through Gate 5.
Which rows are best on the sideline at Wake Forest?
Rows a few up from the field near midfield. The front rows sit behind the team benches, where standing players and staff block part of the near side.
Where can you park free for a Deacons game?
As of the 2026 season, use the remote lots at 2400 Reynolda Road or 3730 University Parkway, where free shuttles begin two hours before kickoff.
How many ACC titles has Wake Forest won?
Two: 1970 and 2006, the second of which ended in the Orange Bowl. The 2021 team added an Atlantic Division title.
