Picking a Chargers Seat: The Quick Version
The best Los Angeles Chargers seat for most fans is a middle row on the lower sideline at SoFi Stadium, the 70,240-seat Inglewood stadium the team shares with the Los Angeles Rams. You are near the field but above the players and staff who stand along the bench. For value, the upper sideline is unusually good here, because the whole bowl is sunk below ground level and the upper sections sit closer to the field than their numbers imply.
Chargers tickets are often easier to find than tickets for many NFL teams, but the opponent changes everything. Los Angeles is home to large numbers of fans of other teams, and they buy heavily when their team visits. The regular season runs September into early January, with preseason in August.
SoFi's Levels, From the Field Up
Seating at SoFi is organized by level. Third-party guides describe the layout this way, so treat it as orientation and confirm on the seat map:
- 100s, field level. The lower bowl, plus premium field clubs with indoor lounges.
- 200s, club level. Raised sideline views, lounge access and better food, priced for those extras.
- 300s through 500s, upper bowl. The value tiers, and the sections most helped by the stadium's design.
That design is the key detail. Flight-path height limits near Los Angeles International Airport forced the field about 100 feet below the surrounding ground. You enter many sections from the concourse and walk down to your seat, and the upper bowl hangs nearer the action than it would in a conventional stadium.
Above the field hangs the Infinity Screen, a two-sided oval video board of about 70,000 square feet. Nearly every seat can see it, which takes much of the sting out of a corner or high-row ticket.
Seats to Buy and Seats to Reconsider
- Buy: lower sideline, middle rows. The best mix of closeness and a full-field picture.
- Buy: club sideline in the 200s. A slightly higher, cleaner view with indoor comfort.
- Buy: upper sideline. The strongest value in the building, thanks to the sunken bowl and the screen overhead.
- Reconsider: the first several rows on the bench side. Standing players and staff block much of the near field.
- Reconsider: end zones if you follow strategy. They are fun for scoring plays and the sound system, but play between the 30s is hard to read.
Sun, shade and the roof
A translucent roof covers both the seats and the field, while the stadium's sides stay open to the ocean breeze. You stay out of the rain and out of most direct sun, so the sun-side calculation that drives seat choice at open stadiums barely applies. Night games can get cool; pack a layer.
Opponents That Change the Crowd
Expect one or two preseason home games and eight or nine regular-season home games. At SoFi, demand follows the visitor.
- AFC West rivals. The Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos bring the biggest traveling crowds, and Southern California has an especially large Raiders following. These are the toughest tickets of the season.
- Teams with national fan bases. Their local supporters can turn much of the stadium into a road crowd and push resale prices up.
- Night games. A national television slot usually speeds up sales.
- Smaller-market, non-division opponents. Typically the easiest seats to find and the best value.
- Preseason. A relaxed way to see the stadium.
For a crowd that leans powder blue, choose a game against a team that does not travel in numbers. Visiting fans should expect plenty of company.
Metro, Parking and Gate Rules
SoFi stands on the former Hollywood Park site, roughly three miles from LAX and beside the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome. Game-day traffic is heavy, so arrive early or use transit.
- Metro: as of the 2026 season, the stadium recommends the Metro C or K Line to the LAX/Metro Transit Center and a game-day shuttle from Bus Bay 8.
- Parking: lots are split into color-coded zones, and passes are digital and sold before game day. Remote park-and-ride lots with shuttles have been offered in some seasons.
- Rideshare: pick-up and drop-off are on Kareem Court, between Pincay Drive and Manchester Boulevard.
Tailgating is restricted compared with older stadiums. As of 2026, it is limited to one designated zone for select events, with gas or propane grills only, and it ends at kickoff; many fans eat in Inglewood instead. Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC, up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, with a small clutch also allowed, and a paid bag valet operates near the stadium corners. There is no re-entry, the stadium is cashless, and some gates close after the first quarter of NFL games, so latecomers may walk farther to get in. Review the SoFi Stadium parking and transportation page and current policies before you go. Every Reserved Seat order comes with guaranteed entry.
The Chargers Story So Far
Founded in 1959, the Chargers spent their first season, 1960, in Los Angeles as a charter team in the American Football League (the AFL, which later merged with the NFL). In 1961 they moved to San Diego and stayed 56 years. Those San Diego teams won the 1963 AFL Championship, and in the late 1970s and 1980s coach Don Coryell and quarterback Dan Fouts built Air Coryell, a pass-first offense that changed how the game was played. The franchise's only Super Bowl, XXIX after the 1994 season, ended in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Nine players and two coaches from the franchise are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including receiver Lance Alworth, Fouts, linebacker Junior Seau and running back LaDainian Tomlinson. The lightning bolt logo has barely changed since 1960, and powder blue remains the look fans know best.
The team came back to Los Angeles in 2017, played three seasons at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson and moved into SoFi Stadium in 2020. The AFC West rivals are the Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders, with a crosstown rivalry against the Rams. SoFi hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022, was a 2026 FIFA World Cup venue and is scheduled to host Super Bowl LXI in February 2027.
Frequently asked questions
Are upper-level seats at SoFi Stadium worth buying for a Chargers game?
Often, yes. The field sits about 100 feet below ground level, so upper sections are closer to the action than in most stadiums, and the Infinity Screen is visible from nearly every seat.
Do I need to pick a shaded seat at SoFi Stadium?
Rarely. A translucent roof covers the seats and field, so direct sun and rain are seldom factors. Evening games can turn cool.
What is the easiest way to reach a Chargers game without driving?
As of the 2026 season, ride the Metro C or K Line to the LAX/Metro Transit Center and take the game-day shuttle from Bus Bay 8. Confirm current service on SoFi's transportation page.
Is tailgating allowed at Chargers games?
Only in one designated zone for select events, with gas or propane grills, and it must end at kickoff. Check the stadium's current rules before game day.
What happens if I arrive late to a Chargers game?
Some gates close after the first quarter of NFL games, so you may need to walk to a different entrance. Re-entry is not permitted once you are inside.
